Lyrica (benefits Vs Side Effects) Or Are They Side Effects ?

Hello, I am 55 and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia at the age of 32. I also have ddd,scoliosis, bulging disc and the list goes on. Due to circumstances, I have on and off Lyrica 3 times. I am seeing all these posts about side effects and I am truly sorry for all that have to go through all of this. Before I was on Lyrica, I had memory glitches, brain fog, and dizziness, and have been one of the lucky ones I guess, because I have never had suicidal thoughts, except twice and that's because I mixed whiskey with the lyrica and my husband and I got into it. I do not drink much anymore. My heart goes out to all people that have bad reactions to medications. For me, the lyrica mostly has benefits. So many things have to be taken into account, to actually determine whether or not side effects are from the medication, the illnesses or what's being mixed with the medication. Thank you for such a very helpful post! You are correct, so many people blame their medication(s), and don't take into account that other factors may play a role in any issues being experienced, such as alcohol, and food. The NIH does warn about such issues.

The FDA warns that typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, weight changes, and mood swings.

Are you on any other medications?

I have been on a Lyrica for 5 years. Have had no side effects except some weight gain. It helps my idiopathic Peripheral neuropathy quite a bit and I have less burning and pain in my legs. Still have numbness in my feet though. Also, I am able to get Lyrica for free thru Pfizer even though I am on Medicare and have insurance.
