Lyrica Is Dangerous / Class Action Suit Anyone? (Page 15)

I have crps in both hands from carpal tunnel release...after several months, I was worse, not better. My workmens comp dr. said " You will have chronic pain the rest of your life and you will just have to learn to live with it"...oh thanks doc for screwing my hands up, not to mention how it has drastically has changed my life and limitations. I have been seeing a pain specialist ever since and that was back in 2001 when I had the release. I was on lyrica for the last 6 years, I have been off of it for three months. Now that I think back to when my severe depression started was not long since I started taking it. I don't know how many times I said I hate my life and I wish I was dead, I had thoughts of taking all my prescriptions and going to sleep for good! By the grace of god, I had my four nephews to take care of and I truly believe they saved my life! My pain management N.P wanted to keep a close eye on me when I started taking it, so I went from going every six months to every three months and when my depression got worse every two months...nothing was done, I was on 600 mg. a day, why didn't she try to lower my dose? I complained about the swelling and she said she didn't have any other patients complain, I was taking lyrica for the pain in my hands and the whole time it was making them worse! There were many time I would be driving and make a turn and not know where I was...one day I couldn't remember my address, I couldn't remember conversations I had with my boys, I had no brain! When I came off lyrica and I did it slowly...it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Hot, cold, night sweats, nauseous...I was at the grocery store and literally felt like a monster coming out of me, thank god I am off lyrica! My lawyer is checking on a class action lawsuit, all of us that has had a horrible experience with lyrica, we all need to come together and they need to pay for putting this horrible drug on the market!

Hi Larry,
In Australia, Shine Lawyers do a pro bono sort of thing. They call it no-win, no-fee. They would be my only option due to my own lack of funds, and presumably it would be similar for other people who are ill and have been damaged by lyrica. As Shine is the 'Erin Brocovich' team which I believe was started in the US, perhaps they do a no-win, no-fee service there also. I'll let you all know how I get on. The first stage is to recruit other Aussies who've had Lyrica impact their lives and health negatively. Apparently, there need to be at least 7 people involved for a class action.

Hi,
I'm not sure which country you're from but I'm thinking of getting a class action together in Australia, which is where I live. I know absolutely nothing about how to go through the process but will begin with Shine Lawyers for two reasons. Firstly, they have a no-win, no-fee policy, and secondly, I believe they're very good. If you happen to be in Australia and are interested in joining the class action, please send me a reply and we can take it from there. Thank you and best wishes for a healthy future.

WOW! I don't feel alone anymore after reading all of these posts. I too, was on Lyrica for diabetic neuropathy. I developed a lot of the same symptoms described by many of you. The scariest was the falling down all the time. I lost my job as well. After seeing what this drug was doing to me, my doctor took me off of it. I have gone to a pain specialist to get relief from the pain in my feet. We have tried everything, from topical lotions, TENS, different pain medications and nothing has worked. The worst part now besides the pain is the lingering side affect dyskinesia from taking the Lyrica. I take two pain medications that give me some relief but now I have to realize that I will be on this for the rest of my life. It puts me in a fog and still limits me to what I can do.
I would be very interested to learn of any class action suit. Good luck and God Bless.

My husband was taking Lyrica for one year and ended up with all the same complaints we have all heard . On November 15th 2013 I took my husband to the emergency room. Only 30 minutes later I was told he had a 27% of making it through the surgery. He was diagnosed with fournier's gangrene. Doctors had not seen this for over 20 years. How did he get this? The lyrica lowers you immune system which made him have this problem. He stopped the lycria and went through the depression and sick feeling. This caused a real problem in our marriage. I thing if he never took Lycria he would not have suffered this life changing disease. Please let me know if this happened to you or your loved one.

Carol, I am also from Canada living in Vancouver.. I was on Lyrica since 2009 and finally just came off it. For 3 years I have been living in hell felt like I was going to die several times and have also lost my job due to this. My issues where the Cyclical vomiting that it would cause. once a month i would get viciously sick for 3-7 days puking every 20 minutes not keeping anything down..solar plexus area would burn causing burning back pains ( this was supposed to be for pain management) hot and cold sweats all night like the flu.. numerous stomach scopes and xrays ruled anything else out. Now they say you know your own body and once i started coming off my dosage (300mg a day) i knew for sure it was the Lyrica making me fell odd.. lil memory loss issues, dry drunk feeling, non stop vomiting all this came to an end once i was fully off these pills. Now i understand side effects but puking to the point of having to go to hospital for an IV...memory loss at times and the fact they say this pill is not addictive really bothers me. This pill was very new to Canada when i was introduced to it in 2009 an dim 99.9 % convinced this is what made my life hell for last 3-4 years!! all this being said Carol I also contacted Paul with my story and hope we can get some Class Action Suit going. I even have my Dr on my side as we have been trying to see what was getting me so sick all this time. She sees a huge change.. Please anyone else in Canadas if you are taking Lyrica and experiencing any of this jump on board!!

Have spoken to Canada prescribed compliance government agencies. They are investigating lyrica. Class action suit filed and won in USA. Canadian llawyers and government now looking into class action suit after business week of August 2013 published findings. Was on it for my fibro myalgia. Too much damage to mind and body.

Wow I can't believe what I'm reading, I started some research on lyrica after I started to notice changes in my fiancé , he is just not the same person since he started this crap. Now he got a call today that his ck level is elevated. Not only mood swings, swelling of the legs, large increase in muscle pain and a large weight gain, and no energy. I know some things go along with being a diabetic but not this it's way too much in a year and 1/2 time he tried to stop it but the withdrawal was just too much, I'm so sick of the drug companies making money over another miracle pill, they just don't care .

First four weeks in a coma caused by bacterial meningitis - causing gangreen in my feet - then six toes amputated - then dozens of prescribed meds non prescribed meds - then the worst mistake of my life Lyrica. I am currently in lyrica hell after a month of taking only 75mg twice a day I am not myself and I now know going cold turkey stopping it was stupid but starting it was really the BIG mistake. And the worst pain of all I have been through. HELP

Bobbie, I'm down for joining your group. Lyrica has been a nightmare for me and I have only taken on and off for 2 weeks. My eyeballs feel swollen and gritty and I have a huge headache at all times. I want to get off of it, but i'm terrified of the withdrawals.

As difficult as it may be to prove the harm that Lyrica has caused, I know without a doubt that it has brought me many problems much worse than the initial reason for taking it.
It did help with the pain I was suffering for a time, however this didn't last and the issues that have come from the use of it have put me through a hell I surely didn't expect. Even coming off of this poison is horrendous. I have minimized much of it in my mind, but am now coming to a clear realization about the damage this drug has caused mentally, emotionally and physically. It's near impossible to be clear about much of anything while on this, but having cut down to less than half of the 450mg dosage I was prescribed, I'm slowly getting some mental capabilities back.
This drug may not be detrimental to all who take it, and may help some, but that doesn't take away the multitude of issues, some even life threatening that many of us have encountered. People have the right to know what they may face if they choose to take it.
One small example... I used to write grants for a living, and could have written this in no time at all, it has taken me three times as long to put my thoughts together, be able to put them into words and type them out.
I strongly feel that those of us who have been harmed DO need to come together and take action, not only for ourselves, but for others who may be affected in the future.
Anyone interested in joining me, please let me know. I believe we can all come together possibly thru social media and get this ball rolling.
Blessings and better tomorrows!
