Lupin Lisinopril Pill Size Change (Page 4)

I take 10 miligram Lupin tables - have been taking them 2x a day for 20 years. Today, I opened the bottle and they were 1/2 the size. Same markings on the pill and container, same color, same manufacturer but 1/2 the size. I asked the pharmacy assistant about it and she said the company was making them smaller but they were the same. I asked how they were doing that - were they removing fillers? Why did they have so many fillers in the first place. She said she didn't know, but would transfer me to the pharmacist. I asked the pharmacist and she sounded like she had been asked what the weather would be like the next day - "oh, I don't know...yeah...I don't really know." I don't feel comfortable taking these.

Connie, yes I also have the smaller pill and have nausea and flu like symptoms which never had with the larger pill.... Have been taking these for 40 yrs. with no problem... I talke to my pharmacist at Walmart and was told that when certain fillers are removed you can have reactions.... He also said maybe to try lisinopril with the Hctz ....I also noticed this new little pill does not control my B/P as well... I will have to see my Doctor.......

I never had any side effects when I was taking old version (larger size) of Lisinopril for 5 years. Now my eyes are very blurry since I started taking new version of Lisinopril( smaller size) about 3 mos ago, I cannot tolerate any more plus I feel dizzy, headache and heat beats fast( went ER 3 days ago, did all kind of tests, EKG, Cat Scan etc, all normal).Today I left a message to my dr and wanted him to change to Diovan( my sister is taking no side effects at all). Hope I have good luck on Diovan.

On 30mg got new reformulated in nov 2 saw dr on 9 had bad cough more chest pain bps was okay he said. Went er on thanksgiving weekend bad chest pain short of breath. 8 hrs nitro and 2 I’ve sent home. Back again this week would not change prescription just offered same treatment. Called cardiologist still gone till next year. Ask for samples branded Lisinopril. Said no as the doctor always sees me instead of the pa or nurse so cannot alter meds. Insurance says which DR. You can see. Why does it have to be so difficult !.

I have been taking this medicine for years. The past several months have had symptoms of neuropathy in my feet and legs. This correlates to the new pill size. Yes. There is something wrong with this manufacturer. I switched to a new type of blood pressure and within days those symptoms are gone. I am a physical therapist. I know my body. This is not a psychosomatic response.

Yes, I started the smaller 20 mg pill several months ago. When I take my dosage my blood pressure seems to rise again in less than eight hours. I have never had this problem before they changed the size.

Saw Dr. again said it’s not the meds. Wants to do another stress test. Then catherization from leg and neck. Open up some small blockages take sample of heart tissue. Had to say no !. I ride 600-700 miles a month on a bike in good weather. This all got worse when med change in November. Starting search for another heart Dr. unable to accept his view at this time. Will not post anymore regarding the reformulated lisinopril in case Dr. is right or another proves him wrong.

Same thing happened to me w/the Lupin. Pharamacist just looked at me like I was delirious but I KNOW this pill. Mine went from smaller to bigger and the color was a bit lighter. Got it again later and it was smaller. I know lots are different, but now I don't trust it so I just take Prinivil, which is consistent every time.

I've been reading all the reviews on lisinopril's change in size to the smaller version and I totally agree this pill is horrendous.... headaches, chills and body aches. Have been on lisinopril 10 mg with no problems for over 30 yrs. and b/p under control... This smaller version does nothing and my blood pressure is always elevated... Stopped taking it and restarted in Dec and the same symptoms returned. I called Lupin and reported this and was informed that everyone that is having problems needs to call and complain. I have been on 10mg lisinopril for years with good control of my blood pressure. I got the smaller Lupin pill and my blood pressure has risen. Saw a doctor in December, my blood pressure was up..I dismissed it as a fluke. Was at my pcp in January, my blood pressure was up again...she questioned it and told me to keep an eye on it, which I didn’t..couldn’t find my blood pressure machine. Was at the doctor today and my pressure was up to 146/90. It’s never been that high, ever, ever. Called my pcp and she increased my lisinopril to 20 mg. I am wondering about the efficacy of the smaller 10mg pill the same as you are...

I think its wrong for you to dismiss everybody's concerns about this pill. I received my new smaller 10 mg pill in November 2017. It didn't concern me at all, I've had other changes in other pills that I take and was never concerned and never had a problem, thankfully. I always take my blood pressure pill before I go to bed and my blood pressure, at every doctor that I see, has always been in a good range...average 120/70. ALWAYS! My blood pressure was up at my cardiologists office in December 2017; I dismissed it as just a fluke. Saw my PCP in mid January 2018, and my blood pressure was 140/80...she told me to start taking my blood pressure at home-I couldn't find my Omron monitor so I didn't bother. I just saw my vascular doctor on 16 Feb 18, my blood pressure was 140/90. She took it a second time, it was 146/92. I have never had blood pressure readings like this at any of my doctors offices. I called my pcp when I got back home, she decided to increase my Lisinopril from 10MG to 20MG. After reading all of the similarities to my increased blood pressure problem after getting the smaller pill change, I am not picking up that prescription. I am calling my pharmacist to see if they can get my 10MG from another manufacturer and if they can't I'm calling my PCP back on Monday and telling her what I have read on this site. I want to try another time with the 10MG pill, but one NOT from the Lupin manufacturer. Companies are always trying to cut corners to increase their profit margin. Lupin has had recalls of their medicines in the past. Who's to say this one doesn't have a defect and shouldn't be recalled? I am going to contact the FDA about my problem with this pill.

The big increase was in systolic pressure jump of 20-30 . Still trying to get cvs to give me a different manufacturer. Based on past 5 months I would say I believe the binding agent is not keeping a good level through the whole day. It makes peak and is flushed out in less than 8 hrs. I take at 6:00 am .if I work out in am pressure stays at around 127-130 over 70 pulse 70. Work out in pm pressure is 147-157 over 80 and pulse 88 short of breath . To many Dr. will not listen ? To their patients. I live with this body 24 hrs a day they see you once every few months.

This is not true - the fillers definitely make the absorption rate slower - why did they have them there to begin with? Everyone is different and a change can affect one person and not the other. You should research it. My son has Epilepsy and it took us 8 years to find the right combination and dose to control his seizures - a change like this could be catastrophic for him. In my state (CT) we have a law that Pharmacies have to give the same generic anti seizure medication to each patient with every refill - they cannot switch manufacturing brand. Obviously there is a difference.

The fillers also slow down the absobtion rate of the medication in your body which can effect some people who are more sensitive to changes. The pharmacy did not give you the correct info. Sure it is true that some people may have sensitivity to some fillers, this does not mean if they remove all the fillers that people have been used to, there will not be a problem. The only reason that the fillers were removed was $$$$$$!!

I had a problem with the smaller Lupin 10mg Lisinopril pill. Higher blood pressure readings than what I had with the larger pill, Talked to my doctor and she prescribed a 30 day scrip for 10mg pill specifically from Mylan. I have been taking it for about 2 weeks now and taking my blood pressure twice daily. I am now back in the normal range,

Just came across your post. I had been prescribed the 20mg pill when it was larger, and was cutting it in half and taking the half pill per day (was all I needed as I hate taking more of any drug than needed) which kept my blood pressure around 130 over 78 which is good for me. When the mfr. changed the 20mg pill size to a smaller physical size, I have to take the whole pill (I take half in the morning and half at night), and my average blood pressure is typically 140 over 84 or 86, which is really too high In my opinion. I have to go back to my doctor and do something different. My point is, the smaller pill is a much weaker strength or flat does not work like the larger pill worked. I check my blood pressure fairly often, sometimes 2 times a day.
