I have had 4 surgeries in the past 2 years and because I am prone to blood clots I have been taking lovenox twice a day (100 mg 2 times a day). I just had a doppler of my leg and the blood clot is still there. I do have an umbrella filter to stop the clot from travelling. How long can the body tolerate lovenox. I am sick of theses injections, and it is getting very frustrating. ## As far as body tolerance goes, I haven't come across many scenarios where people experienced side effects. So I can only assume that most people tend to tolerate it well. Lovenox (Enoxaparin) is a Heparin drug, thus only available as an injection unfortunately. There are other blood thinners available in pill form, but you would need to discuss your options with you doctor, as sometimes the oral version do...

Is there an alternative medication to lovenox that can be taken oraly or otherwise instead of shots? ## This is a Heparin drug, thus only available as an injection. there are other blood thinners available in pill form, but you would need to discuss your options with you doctor, as sometimes the oral version do not work adequately for all conditions. ## My mother started takin Lovenox shots and Coumadin beause of a blod clot in her leg. Since sarting those medicines she has been very nauseated. Could that be a side effect of either of those medicines and is there alternative medicine for both of them. Thanks for your help.

How does Lovenox bridge therapy work? I need an explanation in full detail. Thanks ## Lovenox contains the active ingredient Enoxaparin, it is used for its ability to thin the blood, to prevent clotting. Bridge therapy refers to using it, for its immediate effects, during a time period when the patient is started on a new medication, such as Warfarin, or when they are at higher risks of blood clots. The dosage of a medication like Warfarin must be carefully adjusted to get the desired results and like many medications, it takes some time to reach its full effect in the body. And since it does, the Lovenox is often used during that time period, to help prevent clotting in the patient, until the Warfarin or another medication can reach its full effectiveness, then the Lovenox is usually s...

My mom's 88 yrs. She has a pacemaker, AFIB, CHF, History of TIA's, and both her siblings had strokes. She has to have a bronchoscopy so they want her blood thicker. She's been on coumadin since 2009. Her cardiologist called her 'low-risk', and told her to stop coumadin 5 days prior to procedure, but my sister and I think lovenox is more appropriate? I don't get how they can say she's low stoke risk. Stroke is our biggest fear. ## Have you discussed your concerns with her and her doctor? His opinion of her being at low-risk is based on her current health and medical history, but by all means if you disagree you should say so. It may also be safer for her to taper for awhile before the procedure, rather than just stop abruptly.

I have been taking Lovenox for 1 1/2 years for a DVT (ankle to groin) and multiple clots in my lungs (all four quadrants). No one can figure out WHY I grew the super clot...it did not reabsorb and is still there. I had a Tulip filter put in before surgery (remove ovary) because suspected cancer...pathology was normal, but the CA 'number' went down. I now have osteoporosis (my Dr. says is from Lovenox)...I don't want more clots, what am I to do???? ## Clots are generally related to one's diet and/or smoking habits. In my honest opinion the best way to clear blood clots is to clean your blood. The best way to clean your blood is to eat primarily fruits and vegetables in their fresh raw state. For something similar to a blood transfusion, I'd highly recommend a double s...

I went for an op and they gave me an injection in my leg I don't know the name they said it was for my tromboses I have. But then the nurse gave me a second injection anand I started to bleed everywere they said my blood was to thin and that she was seposed to only have given me one injection got 2 plasma transfusions. Now I suffer from high blood presure I never had a problem with that. Can you please tell me if it is because of the overdose of blood thinner that they gave me or what? ## The one commonly given, in injection form, by doctors and hospitals is Lovenox, which contains the active ingredient Enoxaparin. I'm not sure if that's what you were given, but it is highly likely. It is unlikely that it caused high blood pressure, usually the thinning of the blood and blee...

I had hip replacement surgery on 7-2 and had to inject Lovenox into my stomach for 28 days following. I had a huge post op bruise on my knee that would not heal the whole time I was injecting this drug. It is now 8-14 and a small part of it still remains. I also was bothered with hemorroids before my surgery, but not all the time and not bad. Could these injections have made them worse, bleeding and swollen etc., as they are really painful and bothering me now as they were the whole month. ## Lovenox is a blood thinner, so yes, it will take longer for bruises to heal and since hemmoroids are prone to irritation and bleeding, they can do so even more during and for awhile after, the use of this drug. ## what dosage of eperisone HCL would I take.I have lumbar scoliosis & fibrocystic b...

The nurse explains that a 57 year old man presented in the emergency room with acute myocardial infraction and Dr. Tesoro has prescribe the drug at 30 mg intravenously followed by 1 mg/kg subcutaneous. The nurse explains that she looked in the packaged insert and found nothing about using the drug intravenously. What is the use of this drug to the patient? Is it safe to use intravenously? Are there restrictions to this medicine in the terms of its means of administration? ## Lovenox contains the active ingredient Enoxaparin, it is primarily used as a blood thinner, since most heart attacks are caused by blood clots. IT can help prevent new ones from forming. From what I can find, it is usually given as an injection and isn't even listed as being manufactured in an IV preparation. You...

Hi there! I am 27 and have been on lovenox injections (2 a day) for over a year due to a stroke when I was 25. I have A LOT of scar tissue that has built up and its getting harder and harder to do the shots. Anybody have tips or tricks on how to make is easier? Also, I get some bad red, swollen, warm to the touch and painful injection sites from time to time. Should I worry about these? Any help would be awesome! Thanks! ## I am 28 weeks pregnant and I have to take Lovenox due to a blood clotting factor. My shots are getting harder and harder to take as well. I've tried taking them in my legs and butt as well as my stomach. They hurt so bad that sometimes I skip it and I'm terrified of losing my baby. I want more children but fear taking this shot so many more times. My dr presc...

I was given a shot of Lovenox after being admitted to the hospital. I had NEVER had Lovenox before. I felt just fine while sitting there talking to the nurse before the shot. I developed a bad case of Gastrtis, and stomach pain, loss of appetite and EXTREME weakness, Diarreaha for the next 16 days. for getting an authorization thru pt's insurance what cpt code do we use for Lovenox? ## I HAVE THE SAME DOUBT ## If you can't get it through the insurance company, apply directly to the mfg. When my husband was told he would need to be on Lovenox the rest of his life, we checked with our local Walmart and was told that the monthly prescription cost for 60 shots was going to be $8,100 (no, this is not a typo) without any insurance contribution. With his Part D contribution, the price went down to $5,100 which still wasn't an option. He applied to the mfg for relief and was denied since he had private Part D insurance. He appealed the decision and was authorized by the mfg to receive the Lovenox at no cost.

I took Lovenox as a post surgical bridge therapy for my coumadin needs. I had a radical prostectomy and began lovenox treatment about 30 hours afterwards. Within 2 days I was readmitted to the hospital with a massive internal hemitoma. My bladder tore away from my urethra and left me with permanent nerve damage in my legs and facing numerous surguries including urethra reconstruction. I've had a catheter for over a year and a half. Be VERY careful with this drug. I now opt for heparin which is monitored in Hospital until my coumadin levels are acceptable. This drug is not FDA approved for these uses, please use caution.
