Loss Of Effectiveness

Updated

I've been on contrave for about 5 or 6 months. I went from 205 to 188 in first 3 months. I'm back up to 195 now. It seems the medication has lost its effectiveness. Please help. I love this medication. No side effects for me. I don't want to regain my weight. Should my doctor increase the dose. I'm taking 2 in the morning and then 2 before I go to sleep at night. So 2 about 10-12 hours apart.

The same thing has happened to me at the exact same point in my usage. I lost about 13 pounds and now flat and feel like my eating is increased some. Four a day is the maximum. I tried to change up the times but nothing working yet.

4 pills a day is the maximum dosage that the FDA allows. They list the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, insomnia, and anorexia.

Most people do experience a plateau, but have found that it eventually starts working, again, after a month, or two.

Has there been any change for either of you, so far?

Are you making sure to eat a healthy diet and get plenty of exercise?

I have been on it for over a year. Even though I get a nasty headache here and there, I have lost 52lbs. But I am not losing any and have gained almost 10lbs back in 2.5 months. I truly want this to work. What can this be?

I have been on Contrave since January 2017 and did really well since then... lost 48 lbs. the last two months I gained 15 pounds back and I have done nothing different… This medicine is too costly for it not to work… I upped my work out and even cut out my calories . 15 lbs is a lot to gain in 2 months for someone who's working hard at it... my appetite I noticed has come back and I don't feel full anymore… Has anyone went off it for a few weeks then went back on? I know our body gets used to medication so I'm thinking perhaps that's going on with me… Anyone else had the same experience ? What did you do to make it kick in again? please help!

Same here... I lost 15 lbs in the 1st month or so - no appetite or cravings. But doesn't seem to be working that way anymore. I'm wondering if stopping the Contrave for a bit, then restarting would help?
