I've had chronic pain for fifteen years and been on many types of medications, opiate and non-opiate. When I changed insurance and couldn't see my regular doctor, I ran out of fentanyl patches and oxycodone. I had never abused my medication, but after going through a few days of horrible withdrawals, I became desperate and made the dumb mistake of trying H. That was three months ago and I'm too ashamed and embarrassed to attempt to try a new pain specialist.

I did go to a suboxone clinic for about a week, but the pain was too unbearable and I went back to the dope. I have really bad veins, plus I'm not good at inj's. so I have bad bruises and marks.

I want to get on legitimate pain meds, even methadone if that's all I can get. I can't go on like this anymore and I'm desperate for a doctor who won't be cruel and judgmental (I'm going enough of they myself).

Does anyone know of a doctor they would recommend? I also can't wait forever for an appointment which makes it challenging.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hello, Gia! How are you?

If you went to a Suboxone clinic, then that is listed in your medical records, which means no private practice doctor is going to be able to prescribe Methadone for you for pain. Thus, a clinic is really your only option.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Otherwise, for other pain medications or treatment alternatives, you should try seeing a pain management specialist.

Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?

You can absolutely be prescribed methadone for pain. It doesn't matter that you have issues with substance abuse. You need to find a pain management doctor that is also experienced in substance abuse.

Unfortunately if you've ever been treated by a dr or a clinic with suboxone or another drug like it for active addiction and it is annotated in your medical records, it is going to be nearly impossible to find any dr willing to treat you. A methadone clinic is likely going to be your only option

Re: Verwon (# 1)

I need to find a Dr in the salt lake area, who will prescribe methadone. I have been going to a pain clinic for the past three years. Just this last month, my physician assistant said he wanted to reduce my dose from 50mg to 30mg. I have MS and degenerative arthritis. My pain has been severe, and methadone has been the only med that has helped me. I have been a stable patient, and not abused this med. I don't know where to turn. If anyone knows where I can go, and to find a compassionate Dr, please let me know.

Is there a new law in Utah, that is requiring Drs in pain clinics to cut back on their dosage of methadone? This what my physician assistant told me about changing my dose of methadone from 50mg to 30mg. I honestly thought that pain clinics could prescribe methadone, without such repercussions. I mean, isn't that what pain clinics do...manage pain with meds? If I decide to go to another pain clinic, will I get the same story? I'm still looking for a Dr in the Salt Lake area. Please help me locate a Dr.

Verwon (# 1) methadone and Suboxone Clinic are protected the medication they give you there does not go on your DOPL report your privacy is much more protected there then when you go to a private doctor it's like when you go to a hospital and you're there for a couple of days and they give you meds those meds are prescribed under the hospitals license and will not go on your. Will only controlled substance prescribed that you get filled at another Pharmacy will go on your dopl
