Katie from Indiana Says:

I have been seeing a doc in Ft. Wayne, IN for a year and a half. His nurse called yesterday to say, He is no longer doing the narcotics side of business, one week before my monthly script is written. I have a crooked tail bone that sends pain down my leg. This drug has worked tremendously. I have been working as a waitress all my life and need to stay walking. this is the only drug that has helped. Does anyone have any idea besides writing that in search box on computer? Nurse told me to find pain Doc, but all I have called say they don't prescibe methadone.

Hello, Katie! How are you doing? Sorry about the problems that you're having.

However, if you were calling them and asking them up front about prescribing any particular medication, then it really isn't surprising that they told you no. Doctors and their staff are taught to view that as drug seeking behavior.

The proper way to go about it is to set up an appointment with a pain specialist and then make sure they get a full copy of your current medical records, so they can speak for you. Once they see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past, as documented by a fellow physician, they will be more prone to prescribe accordingly.

Learn more Methadone details here.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Did you try asking if the doctor you've been seeing could refer you to anyone?

I am going thru the same thing and pain clinics do prescribe this, have your Dr give you your last refill which they are supposed to do, and ask him to refer u to a pain clinic, and when they see what you have been on, and for what they will prescribe some times even better meds, good luck

A few yes ago, I had to cal a Rite-Aid regarding the availability for eosin (methamphetminae HCL0 for an old friend/s\'s 5- pr 6=y/o song. Ive called in prescriptions and the/ve only asked me for my office number! Here I was asked to provide my name as it appears on my license to Practice, office address and phone number along with my License of Practice Medicine and Surgery, my specialty certs and my STATE Controlled Substance Registration before the Supervising Pharmacist — and she said she's the only one there who handles such calls. She was the only pharmacist in town who actually could have a few months worth Desoxyn upon receipt of my script. This was a chain store and she called around or sent out a professional email and the drugs were hand delivered the next day. Since her store was just across the street, 'stopped in" and write, signed and dated the scripts. She recognized me as a regular customer, and as an MD whose scripts she and her staff had filed following telephone orders and, of course, as Official NYS written scripts. She said she was so embarrassed because "all your patients say you're the best, Doctor and I know my records swill show you're definitely no "Dr. Feelgood."
