Long Term Methadone

I’ve been on methadone for over 20 years. I do not take anything else except what my Dr gives me for high BP and trazodone for sleep. Why am I so weak and tired all the time? Is it the methadone or something else?

Hello, Calu! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems you're having.

What are your usual BP levels? Have you ever checked it at home, at the time when you feel the worst?

What blood pressure medications are you taking?

The reason I am asking these questions is because the symptoms you've described could be side effects of some medications, or symptoms of low blood pressure, so more information is needed in order to help you. Can you please post back with more details? Thanks!

My blood pressure stays at about 160/95. I take benazepril 30 mg and amlodipine 10mg every other day (sometimes). I have taken lisinopril and got the BP down to 130/80 but I can hardly move if it gets that low. I am going to do a sleep test in November (earliest I can get in). All my blood work comes back in the normal range with inflammation and wbc both a little elevated, but that does not concern the Doc. I know age slows a person down but this is past normal aging.

I do not take methadone, however I do have a sister who does,..and another sister also in another state that does,.. the sister who is on the higher split dose of maybe 210 seems to be tired, and has noticed it to,....my other sister out of state has dose of 75mg. A day,..she has no problems at all....seriously.....now for me I don't take methadone, I'm on buprenorphine treatment,...and I wouldn't change it for anything, but that's just an opinion...I do hear and read about methadone,..bringing down./or sleepy,..the other is weight gain,.
