Last month I took all the blue pills but I skipped the white and brown pills. I know the 2 brown pills are just iron pills but is it bad that I skipped the white ones too? ## Hello, Kate! How are you? No, the white ones have no active ingredients in them, whatsoever, so it doesn't matter if you skip them. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The other response is wrong! I just started this pill and was confused myself. The patient insert does indicate that the white pills have estrogen! I didn't take them either! But will from now on! I wish my doctor had told me...I'm so used to the white pills being inactive! ## The white pills have *estrogen* in them. What they are missing is the progestin. Without progestin, your body starts having a period. That's why it's...

I've been on Lo Loestrin Fe for 7 months now, I been getting my period twice a month and it's horrible. I hate periods, I only got on the pills because I have a history of bad cramps. Lo Loestrin Fe don't help me at all I have cramps before my period and my period last for a whole week. Please help my long distance boyfriend is coming to visit this Monday and I'm already cramping I'm having a feeling I'm about to be in my period. How do I stop it? I'm still on the blue pills I only take about 13 of them. What should I do to skip my period? I really hate the feeling of it. And also I don't want to switch my birth control pills I still want to give it time to get use to my system. ## Hello, Rose! How are you? If you've been on them for 7 months, your bo...

Hi, so I've been taking Lo Loestrin for 5 days now and ever since the day after I took the first pill, it's been difficult to swallow and eat without choking. I also have bad breath because of the dryness that I can't get rid of, no matter how many times I brush my teeth. If anyone is experiencing similar things, please let me know, and maybe we could work on a way to get rid of it or decide if it's better to stop taking Lo Loestrin all together. ## Most medications can cause dry mouth, but I've never heard of it being that severe, from oral contraceptives. As reported by the FDA, other typical side effects may possibly include dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Given the severity, I'd suggest speaking to your doctor about trying a different...

I've been on lo loestrin fe for like 7 months now. I rarely ever miss pills but sometimes I take them a hour or so late because I'm always busy! well I had unprotected sex twice for the first time ever. He pulled out and didnt go in me and it was a week apart. This was 7 weeks ago. I took 5 clear blue digital pregnancy tests spacing them out and they were all negative. Then I took an ept and it was negative too. Now I'm on my next period and its real light spotty brown? symptoms : 'feeling' pregnant boobs went up two sizes blue veins around chest and boobs being paranoid sore gums pimples feeling fat and gross depression and emotion. I'm a wreck because I'm just a teen still. Don't know what to do? ## These same symptoms can be caused by the hormones in th...

My period came on Aug 7th and I got started on a new birth control (Lo Loestrin Fe). Since the end of my period I have been having brown vaginal discharge. Its now Aug 30th and I'm still having this discharge. And no, I'm not pregnant. This discharge comes out in spots and sometimes its in clots. It happens daily and it's really embarrassing and annoying. Is this normal? Im still on my first pack and Im really considering to stop taking the pill. My next period is in a few days and I'm afraid about what will happen when It starts. ## I started lo loestrin fe on aug. 5th the last day after my period just like my doctor said. Through out this time I had vaginal discharge various times during the beginning of the weeks. It was brownish and it smelled like old blood. like if...

I've been on LO LOESTRIN FE for 6 months. This month I took the wrong blue pill on the wrong day instead of taking my Tuesday pill I took my Monday pill of the following week which were located on the same line on week four of the packet. So I chosed to take my wenseday pill, Thursday pill and so on until I reached Monday and I took the Tuesday pill instead. Would I be okay?! ## Hello, Aisha! How are you? Yes, all of the blue pills are the same and contain the same dosages of the hormones, so they don't have to be taken on any specific day of the week. The days are marked on there just to help you remember to take one each day. However, the only tablets that are different are the white ones and the brown ones. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as poss...

Last month, I started taking Lo Loestrin FE for perimenopause symptoms. I am 47 years old, My cycles were irregular, messy and for the last few years I have been depressed (off and on), fatigued, low libido, vaginal dryness, crampy, irritable, etc. (you know the drill :) . So, finally, I asked for a low dose combination pill to try and help. So far, the only relief is that my bleeding is 100% better - everything else is a huge mess. Have any of you experienced perimenopausal RELIEF using LoLoestrin? ## Hi Kim, I am on loestrin fe also for persistent bleeding, which it did help with but months later I developed depression and hot flashes and was also put on natural Estradiol which helped tremendously with all. Recently however I missed a loestrin fe and had a few days run of hot flashes,...

Hello! I’m a pharmacy technician trying to help a patient afford this and she’s tried many different insurance companies and coupons but the lowest she can get it is $141. Does anyone have any advice on the cheapest place to get it, good insurance that covers this, or good coupons? Anything would be greatly appreciated as she has tried so hard and I’m just starting to look around. Thanks I’m advance. ## Has she considered asking her doctor to prescribe a cheaper alternative? It might be cheaper for her to take a different one and just add an additional iron supplement, but only her doctor can help decide if that's safe for her to do. NDC code: 0430-0420 The FDA lists is typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, weight changes, mood changes...

Just started taking Lo Loestrin a week ago and traveled across the world and alarm was set without remembering time zone so took pill 4 hours and 15 minutes late. I won't be having sex for another 8 days at least (since out of the country) and know to be careful for the first month since I just started. Two questions. First will taking it 4 hours late hurt anything? I'm usually really on top of it so it shouldn't happen again. And secondly, how long is it recommended to wait before not using additional birth control measures? ## mera nam alal uddin (assam)ka rehnewala hun muje ak aisa medichine chahiye jis medichine se ak ghonta tak sex kar saku

I am 53 and have been taking lo loestrin fe 1/10 for about two years. I stopped taking it for 2 months and have lots of hot flashes and mood swings. I have started taking junel 1/20. What is the difference in these two drugs? When/Will the hot flashes etc stop? ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? Yes, that would happen if you stopped taking abruptly and two months wasn't enough time to allow your body to balance things back out on its own. From what you've listed, the Junel contains twice the amount of estrogens as the other. And its difficult to say when they will stop, it could take awhile for the hormones to balance back out. Have you consulted your doctor for advice? ## I was on Lo Loestrin for years. Had to switch to junel fe or Blisovo for insurance reasons. Both have twice the ...

I have been on this pill since March and only got my period the first month I was on it and it was very light and only lasted a couple of days. haven't gotten it since. I have taken tests...all negative. Any one else experiencing this? ## Since there are hormonal based contraceptive tablets, both of these symptoms can be normal side effects of using the medication. There is really no harm in skipping your menstrual cycle, there are even contraceptives on the market that are specifically designed to let you skip for several months in a row. However, if you are concerned, you should consulted your doctor. Are there any other questions? ## I probably started taking this in April/May. I can't remember exactly. For the first three packs I didn't get a period. On the fourth pack I...

I started taking Lo Loestrin FE on Feb. 2nd and it is now Feb. 21st and I have been bleeding non-stop (literally all day, every day). Doctor says to wait it out for 3 months... 3 months of non-stop bleeding? I've heard of breakthrough bleeding but this crazy! ## While I agree that it is crazy and unacceptable, yes, even if it lasts for a long time, continuously, they still consider that to be just breakthrough bleeding. However, you should give it at least a full month, to see if your body adjusts to these pills. If you are still bleeding by the time you start your second pill pack, you should call and insist on a change and if they don't agree, you may want to consider seeing a different doctor. To be honest, there is no reason for a woman to have to put up with it, for that lo...

I accidentally missed a Lo Loestrin Fe pill on a Friday due to being busy at work. I took a pill the next evening (Saturday) not realizing that I missed a pill. I was intimate that same night with my significant other, but I took the pill beforehand. Sunday evening I take my pill and realize my mistake and took a second pill that was missed. I've taken the pills the past 7 months without missing a pill. This would be my 8th pack and still on the first week. I plan on taking Plan B to prevent a possible pregnancy, but I wanted to make sure if in any way I was still protected and what are the chances of becoming pregnant? ## Every missed pill does increase your risk of pregnancy, though the risk is not as high as if you had missed several, or weren't using any form of contraceptio...

Well crap. I missed the last white pill. The brown are placebos so im bot worried. Im on my period now, so Im not preg (yay!)... but should I start the next pack now, or two (brown pill) days from now? ## Hello, Sara! How are you? You should start the new pack on the normal day, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. That late in your cycle, the chances of it having allowed ovulation to occur are very slim, but you should use backup protection for the first 7 days of the new pack, just to be safe. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi...I'm new to bc...should I expect my period the week I'm schedule to take to white and brown pills? ## Hi guys, I've been taking Lo Loestrin Fe for about 3 months. I forgot to take the last blue pill last night @ 9:00. I had unprot...

My marriage is coming and i want to get my menstrual cycle before the time, so plz suggest a tablet for that. ## Hi priya, If you have a preferred doctor or gynecologist, I would suggest discussing hormonal contraceptive options with him/her. Usually these types of medications (when taken in a particular manner), can significantly influence the timing and duration of your period. For example, with something like Lo Loestrin Fe (norethindrone acetate + ethinyl estradiol), there are 2 or 3 different color tablets. 1 blue, 1 brown, and 1 placebo. Taking these in a certain order for a set period of time can provoke an early period or delay it, depending on how you use them. Your Dr. or gynecologist should be able to prescribe you the necessary medication as well as offer you instructions on...

I started Lo Loestrin Fe four months ago. I am currently in the first week of my fourth pack. The first month, I had brown spotting for about 5 days two weeks before my period came. My period during the first pack lasted around 7 days, like it usually does, and arrived on time. The second pack, I had brown spotting instead of my period. I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. However, my period then came the second week of the third pack (which was really weird to me because my period always came during the last four pills of the pack). At the end of the third pack, I had three days of brown spotting when I was supposed to get my period. I am currently on the first week of the fourth pack, patiently waiting to see what will happen next. Can my diet and exercise have something ...

I take my Lo Loestrin Fe pill every days around 9:30 in the morning. I set my alarm to even wake me up at that time. One morning I woke up but still was very sleepy and took my pill. (Let's say it was a Monday) I went on with my day. It is now Tuesday at 930 and it's then that I realized my Monday pill is still there and Tuesday is gone. So I just take the Monday pill like normal, and continue my pack like regular. I took Wednesday on Wednesday and etc. . They were my regular pills and no where near my placebo pills. But since then I did miss my period. I've read that lo loestrin can make you have non bleeding periods or skip periods. So should I be concerned? ## Hi, Melissa! How are you? Those active tablets all contain the same active ingredients in the same amounts, so it...

I've been taking Lo Loestrin Fe at the same time every day consistantly for two months with no period... is this normal? ## Yes, it can be. These do contain hormones, to prevent pregnancy and they can affect different people in different ways. Some women will menstruate regularly and some won't. There is really no harm in skipping, but if you are concerned about it, you should consult your doctor. Many women use their birth control to skip their menstrual cycle, especially for important events, such as marriage or vacations. Have you contacted your doctor? ## i started taking lo loestrin fe the first day of my last period and during the 3rd week i had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. i had been having breakthough bleeding. I am leaving a response on this forum because I am really disappointed with this brand of birth control. I am turning 22 in less than a month and have had struggles with birth control for about 4 years now, I never have any bad symptoms from the pill except for on about the third week on the pill I always end up breaking out with horrible acne, especially in the chin area (mostly painful under the skin cysts). This happened with every type I tried, but felt the worst with Lolo which was prescribed to me by my OBGYN despite how I told her my struggles with hormonal acne from the pill. I tried Lolo for one month in December, and stopped it due to the painful acne, during my time off from the pill my boyfriend and I had a scare and I took plan B, then once I got my period I decided to give...

My doctor put me on Lo Loestrin to regulate my periods. Sometimes I go three months without one and then go a month continually having one. My question is this: which pills in the Lo Loestrin pack are inactive? I've heard that if you skip the inactive ones, you can skip periods. Please help. Really tired, cramping, and drained here.... ## Hi Amy, According to NIH.gov, each Lo Loestrin (Fe) blister pack of 28 tablets contain: 24 (active) blue, round tablets imprinted with “WC” on one side and “421” on the other and each containing 1 mg norethindrone and 10 mcg ethinyl estradiol 2 (active) white, hexagonal tablets imprinted with “WC” on one side and “422” on the other and each containing 10 mcg ethinyl estradiol 2 (non-hormonal placebo) ...
