Lo Loestrin Fe Missed Period (Thread 230855) (Page 2)

I started Lo Loestrin Fe four months ago. I am currently in the first week of my fourth pack. The first month, I had brown spotting for about 5 days two weeks before my period came. My period during the first pack lasted around 7 days, like it usually does, and arrived on time. The second pack, I had brown spotting instead of my period. I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. However, my period then came the second week of the third pack (which was really weird to me because my period always came during the last four pills of the pack). At the end of the third pack, I had three days of brown spotting when I was supposed to get my period. I am currently on the first week of the fourth pack, patiently waiting to see what will happen next. Can my diet and exercise have something to do with the changes? I'm worried this pill messed up my cycle. I have never missed a period and am NOT liking this. My doctor didn't say I would miss a period on this pill. What do you suppose is causing these problems and what should I do? Thank you!

My goodness, Vick, on your first month? Well, as soon as you reach the white pills you should have at least some spotting, but maybe you're different. Really I wouldn't worry, particularly if you've been having safe intercourse, etc. If it makes you feel better, might I suggest a pregnancy test? It should put your mind at ease and make you feel more comfortable with this pill.

I have been taking Lo Loestrin Fe since February. The first half of the time I would have my period when I was supposed to, but I would also have a day or two of spotting Btwn periods. In October I never got my period, took a test, it came back negative, so just said I'll wait and see what happens in November. When November came around, I did get my period. Now it's December and I'm skipping my period again. I don't mind only having my period 6 times a year, but I am really hoping there isn't anything wrong. I have moved since my last Dr visit and haven't established with a new one yet. Not to mention, I currently do not have medical insurance, so seeing a Dr is really impossible at this time. I'm glad I found this thread, as others have said, and am glad I am not the only one having these issues.

I initially had the Paraguard IUD but sadly I'm the 1% that can't because my body kept rejecting it. So my gyno suggested LLF since it has the lowest amount of hormones. When I started my first pack (December) I was 4 days into my period but my gyno said it was fine to start the pill that day. So I did that evening. Then when I was suppose to get my period during the 2 white/2 brown pills nothing happened, no spotting, nothing. I am currently on the first week of the second pack and haven't had any spotting, although I'm not sure I'm even suppose to? My gyno did say I may not have a period with this type of bc pill but I didn't think it would happen so soon. However, my period has been known to be irregular, especially since I came off of the IUD which was hormone free. Could my cycle be messed now? I keep feeling like I'm having period symptoms but then nothing. I plan on taking an at home PT but I read that you are safe after the first 7 birth control pills so I feel a little more reassured. JUST STRESSFUL! I mean the whole point of taking bc is to prevent pregnancy so a pill shouldn't cause you to wonder if you are!

Is anyone else experiencing this? Any advice? Thanks ladies.

I've been on LLF for like 5 months now and I'm 1 pill away from the end of the pack I'm on. I started lightly spotting in the middle of the pack. I missed the first pill due to the pharmacy not having it in stock but as soon as I got the pack I took the first pill and continued on. 5 days later I had intercourse, no condom, pulled out. Now it's time for my period and I'm stressed out because all I'm doing is spotting and that never happens. Should I be worried?

I'm very athletic and have been taking LLF. I'm on the second week of my second month on the pill. I had spotting when I first started the pill but now I don't, just occasional brown and mostly white discharge. I am active with my partner but have always used a condom. I am now 23 days late. I'm stressing out that I could be pregnant but I need advice! HELP

I have been taking lo loestrin for 6 months now and my periods have always been regular, I never spot they come right on time. I was on antibiotics 1 weeks before the the week I start the brown pills. I did have intercourse and we don't pull out or anything. I am now a week late. I have not spotted or have had any symptoms of starting. I took a pregnancy test And it was negative but I don't think (if I'm pregnant) I'm far along yet to be positive. Very nervous. Could I be pregnant and could it have been the antibiotics ?

Okay guys I have been on loloestrin fe since October 2012 and have not gotten my period once. No concerns BC of my health that's normal. But I am now in the middle of my pack and I spotted this morning and am having cramps. I haven't made any major changes to meds or anything. Of course I cannot call my doctor until Monday... Anyone have any ideas???

Funny timing... I actually had the same exact thing happen to me this month! It was my first real period since starting on this pill. Of course, cramping during my period is normal for me, and really we're supposed to still be getting periods every month. The timing is quite coincidental. Perhaps there was a slight formula change? I personally wouldn't panic, and I'm sure your Gyno won't be surprised. Obviously if it goes on for more than a few days there might be some cause for concern. I say call your Gyno, but other than that, don't sweat it. :)

I am having a similar issue. I have been on LLF since September 2012. I did not have a period while on the pill until May 2014, and my gyno said that was normal and not to be concerned. Since May, I've had a period every month, but the past few months I've also had spotting/bleeding for another 4-5 days after my period. It's been very stressful. I am switching pills soon, but was wondering if anyone else didn't have a period on LLF but then suddenly got one again?

I'm no longer on LLF (new insurance doesn't cover it), but my last two months on it were the only two months in years that I had any bleeding while on this pill. I'm a bit shocked that it wasn't just me. Perhaps there was a formula or dosage change we weren't notified about.

I hope you are right about the dosage change. It has been very stressful. I feel like most of the stories on here from people are about how they had abnormal bleeding/periods their first few months while on the pill, but it's the opposite for us.

Did your period go back to normal once you started a new pill?

I have been on this new BC for about 4 months. I have had one period and just a little spotting every 40 days or so. I get the cramps and bloating and everything normal with getting my period but no period. My prior bc I was getting a period every 2 weeks so I am just confused and I feel like my body is wanting it to come and it not...Also has anyone felt like they were always hungry. Since I started this bc all I want to do is eat..I was not a big eater before but feel like I am never full anymore and just need more. I have a very sensitive stomach and cant have anything with a lot of estrogen and my body really wants none...I am one to get very sick from it...I am just not sure what to do

Hi I am a little worried because I haven't have my period.. I have been taking LL FE for almost 8 months, the first months I was taking them wrong so my doctor made me start all over again since July... the month of November I had to take Nyquil because I got sick.. I don't know if that could of affect my period because of the mix of medicine. I had intercourse twice in November and I took my pills every single day not at the same hour but what happened twice was that I took them at 11:50pm and another at 11:58pm (blue pills) I haven't finished the pack yet but I haven't got my period on November... my boyfriend and I always use protection. can somebody please tell me whats going on... is that normal????

Hi, Kate - I'm so sorry I never got back to you. I must have missed the notification I usually get in my e-mail! Since I started taking a generic (It's called Junel Fe or something, but I take the generic of even that, lol... it's called microgestin or something to that effect), my periods have gone somewhat back to normal. Basically I get my period every month, now, but the flow is probably half of what it used to be before I started taking birth control. That's actually pretty significant, and a good thing for me, because I used to have very heavy periods when I did have them. The cramping and pain have also decreased considerably, so I will probably keep taking this generic for as long as it suits me. I have noticed that I break out a little more often on it, but a lot of it is probably due to a lot of other factors. Other than that, I'm pretty happy. In a way, I'm glad I didn't have to go through the tumultuousness of dealing with whatever change happened with Lo Loestrin Fe... something definitely happened along the way.

My daughter hasn't had a cycle in almost 3 months. She is 14 but the gyno says this is normal with this type of pill. Have anyone else been told this?

I’ve been taking Lo Loestrin Fe for 3 months now since I had my iud removed. I’m getting my period on day 14 of the blue pills but never during during or near the brown pills. Is this normal? Because I’m not getting my period when I’m supposed to and I’m not taking any active pills for two full days, I’m concerned that I’m at a greater risk of getting pregnant around that time. I do have an appointment with my doctor next month but was curious to see if anyone else had a similar experience with this birth control pill?

I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe 6 months ago. It messed up my menstrual cycle. 1st month I got my period and the 2nd month it was lighter. 3rd month no period. 4th month I had my period. 5th to 6th month, no period at all. ABOVE all, the longer I took the pills the more I got sick - the 5th and 6th month, daily headaches/nausea, I was vomiting every week and had terrible terrible headaches. Diarrhea and vomiting. And my mood swings were terrible. I really felt that my body was rejecting it. April 2nd 2018 I was off Lo Loestrin Fe and no birth control pills for a month now (no intercourse at all) and I see the changes and I feel so much better. No more headaches and vomiting. And no period still. I am seeing my OB-GYNE tomorrow because of the no period issue which I don't like and will try to switch to a new brand/kind.
