My husband takes lithium 600mg/day and takes 4mg of Ativan per day. When his Urine test is dipped in front of us, it shows no benzos in his system. Does the lithium cancel out the Ativan in urine? ## Did you ever get your answer? I'm on lithium carb and just had to take a mouth swab test and wondering what ever came of your story

I just started taking Lithium a few weeks ago and i recently failed my drug test for THC? I havent used Marijuana in over a year. I'm also taking Wellbutrin XL daily and Remeron as needed as a sleep aide.. Can you tell me why I failed this drug screen? ## Same crap here. I am also on lithium and keep failing my UA's. About to just suffer thru with no lithium and hope to not snap on people. ## I took lithium and tried a few others but always failed uas. Especially the cheap tests at my Drs office. I was on drug court and never failed those. Just the cheap ones at the suboxone clinic. I don't know why but every anti depressant or anxiety or bipolar med I've took causes me to fail except seroquel and inderal.

Marazipe with lithium..thyroid meds..larazidine and 1/2 sleep aid. My stomache has started to ache and have to keep running to restroom. I have sopped nuts..popcorn..dairy... Very agruvating. ## Did you mean Mirtazapine? I'm unsure, because there are several similar medication names. Can you please check the spelling of your medications and post back? As reported by the FDA, most antidepressants can cause diarrhea and stomach pain as side effects, along with headache, dizziness and weight gain. Usually, such side effects are transient and taper off, as your body adjusts to the medication.

I was diagnosed with BP2 and on Lithium, antidepressants etc and prescribed Purata for about a year to sleep at night (my brain just won't ever switch off) the Purata 30mg worked excellent but then I had colon problems and the spes said it could have been caused by all the meds I'm on, so I was weaned off everything. Then they discovered my colon was more than twice the normal lenght and it was shortened. I'm doing quite fine off all the meds except that I could not sleep. So last week doc prescribed 30mg Purata again, but now its not working at all! Is it because its the second time around? Should I take it just before going to bed or how long before it kicks in? I really suffer to fall asleep, but once I'm sleeping I have no trouble to stay asleep. P.s. I go to gov cli...

I take 1x250mg lithium morning & @2x 250mg at night I want to reduce by one 250mg lithium ## Hello, Lenore! How are you? Why do you want to lower it, are you having some problem with it? Have you consulted your healthcare provider? Lowering your dosage too fast could cause some rebound effects, such as a manic depressive episode, that could be problematic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, thirst, dizziness, weakness and itching skin.

l lost my mother to Lithium Poisoning/Toxicity last year. Although this drug has been around so long, I need to express my concerns. Why are there no REAL rules and regulations regarding how drug is dispensed and monitored? Her life could have been saved if the proper levels were taken as they should have been.I thought that a physician is supposed to take levels at least every 3 months? The doctor also had her on celexa, which I think complicated things even more. I wish there was an advocacy group or regulations that could bring awareness and try to protect people from this deadly drug and its dangers. My mother accidentally got the wrong dose and no labs for 18 months. She died 15 days after levels reach toxic and became flu like symptoms. Please be careful if you are taking this dru...

My psychiatrist prescribed me 450 mg of lithium twice a day. I'm supposed to take my first dose tonight but i'm VERY afraid it's going to harm me. I am also taking 5mg of Risperdal and a half a mg of Klonopin as needed for anxiety. I've read a lot of horror stories about Lithium and i'm afraid that the first dose could hurt me. Should i be worried? ## Hello, Amanda! How are you? Lithium is most commonly used to treat the manic episodes of manic depression. As to the horror stories, I want to make you aware that mostly what you'll find online are tales from people that have had problems with a medication, because the millions that are taking it successfully, without problems have no need to go hunting information online about it. Thus, what you're reading is r...

Dr. Says dangerous to quit c.t. I want to quit feel they are harming me ## Hi Steve, Based on my findings from PubMed, it's recommended that you discontinue use via a gradual tapering process. Reason being is that Lithium has been known to cause withdrawal symptoms with abrupt discontinuation, and even if you were to only miss it for just a few days. PubMed goes on to describe Lithium withdrawal to be more so associated with an increased risk of relapse or recurrences of the condition you're using it to treat (e.g. bi polar disorder); especially within the first few weeks. Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12404784 That said, it sounds like it would be best to work closely with your Dr. on a dosing regimen that titrates your overall usage of the drug over time, in order to lessen any...

My doctor is tapering me off of lithium treatment slowly due to random huge painful cysts on my face after 10 yrs of treatment. I was on a therapeutic level of 900mgs at bedtime for the beginning 8 yrs, gradually downgraded with blood levels always being fine. Im 100 lbs. I workout often. I cant take these cysts anymore so getting lowered with frequent and professional monitoring and blood level checks. However, I'm curious to know how long it remains in my body as I have not been able to get to my pharmacy due to the weather in my work the past two days and missed my 575 milligram dose the past two nights. I'm curious to know if it is still in my body? Or will i experience any bad Random side effects? being that I haven't had it for two nights? Not saying I should just stop...

Haven't found one that helps me what is the longest time one has taken to work for you please tell me. I have seem no improvement at all ## Hello, Theresa! How are you? Usually, it should be about 4 to 6 weeks, that's the time frame it usually takes for them to reach their full effectiveness in your body and for you to know if it's going to work for you, or not. What type of doctor have you been seeing, a general practitioner or a specialist? Your best bet would most likely be to see a specialist, since they know different combinations of medications that can work for someone who is resistant to conventional treatments. ## It usually takes a few weeks before you start feeling better, I've tried every antidepressant and seems to work the best for me... If all fails get on...

What type of doctor have you been seeing?
