I've been taking Linzess (290mg) since May 8th, 2018 and it has really helped me have a complete bowel movement. Now I'm so glad for this medicine, I should've been on it. I can deal with diarrhea ok, don't like it but it beat not being constipated & not being able to completely empty your bowel properly like it should be done. I suffered from not having a complete bowel movement for 6yrs now, due to the fact that my spinal cord was damaged severely in car wreck damages. This causes my bowels to not function properly like it should and stools were not passing through the rectum. My colon was storing up stools in the rectum. Whenever I have a bowel movement I could still feel stools in the rectum and the urge to go was always there. That feeling that I had to go. This makes me feel bloated and discomfort. All the times my social LIFE just when down I didn't want go anywhere for fear of having bowel leakage unexpectedly, because my rectum was full. It would push out stools without me knowing, causing embarrassing accidents. I spend most of my time in the bathroom for hours sitting on the toilet pushing on my stomach trying make the old stools pass through, but it didn't work. I have bowel movements but not a complete one. Linzess has helped me pass old and new stools that were clogged up over periods of time. I'm forever grateful for this med. I take Linzess 290mg everyday with hot coffee everyday and drink plenty of water. It works... I hate the diarrhea but it's better than having no diarrhea and I feel so much better people. Yes, Lord!!!

I am glad it's working so well for you, I can see where dealing with such an issue would be a pain, literally. They advise you take it with water, a half an hour before eating and drinking anything else, but if your doctor approves of your taking it with coffee, then it's likely that you should stick with what works best for you.

The FDA does warn that diarrhea can be a normal side effect, along with nausea, dizziness, and stomach pain.

Have you had any other issues with side effects?

You can buy disposable underwear for those small losses of urine or diarrhea. I feel a lot more confident now that I'm doing this, for urine.

Bless your Heart ma'm I too hve severe constipation from years now , dr put me on 290 mgs daily as well but it does not work unless i take a laxative the night before , then in the morning the linzess 20 minutes before i eat , then i get going for real , empties me out too , but my dr wants me to be able to go daily so he is going tp try e on relistor .. am afraid of side affects but need help to balance things out .. I am happy for you , this makes me miserable and has caused to to stop going out or doin anything as well... thank the lord for your help as well .. hope mine goes well

I took Linzess once and every awful side effect took place. It was AWFUL. I hope it is good for others but read the warnings and side effect to be prepared if you’re not Lucky like me
