Changing Levothyroxine manufacturers every 2 years

I've been taking synthroid/levothyroxine for over 35 years. Since Medicare Part D I have changed pharmacy 3 times due to costs. Although my TSH reads normal I have more hypo symptoms. Most worrisome is a change in LDL. I always had perfect heart ratio. Nails and skin are very brittle/dry, some hair loss, breast enlargement with weight gain (walk 3 miles/day), and GERD. All related to age? These issues are increasing over time with keeping same dose of Levothyroxine. Any suggestions if I should attempt taking Synthroid and stay with one manufacturer? But then I would be paying out of pocket or get a more expensive RX plan? Or take my chances on new plan thyroid med called EUthyrox? Anyone's experience with this issue would be appreciated. ## Has your doctor done any testing, outs...

Levothyroxine side effects

I was recently diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. I have been taking levothyroxine for almost two weeks. For the last four or five days I have had a weird feeling. It is hard to explain. I don't really feel dizzy but I get a strange feeling in my head. I guess you would describe it as a head rush. Has anyone else had this feeling and will it go away as my body adjusts to the levothyroxine? ## yes i would get that every morning after i took my pills and drank coffee. I think its inmortant to eat a little over an hour after to avoid the dizziness. It does go away though. ## Levothyroxine Info and Side effects Click Here ## my pharmactist changed my thyroid pills because my insurance doesn't cover my other ones. I am cold all the time again and i am dizzy. I came home from work...

results of forgetting to take levothyroxin

I have been taking levothyroxin for 3 or 4 years. Recently, somehow I forgot to take my dose each morning. Completely forgot about it. As a result, about 6 weeks later, a phone call from my doctor after reading my lab results from blood test ended with advice to get to the emergency room ASAP and get admitted to the hospital. My blood saline level had fallen to a dangerous level and I was in danger of stroke, heart attack, death, or coma. I had been feeling very weak for some time and had no idea why. Even standing and walking around the house at home had become a major effort. So, I went to the hospital as advised. I ended up spending 3 days in the hospital, getting a saline IV the full time, as well as starting back on my levothyroxine regimen. My saline count had fallen to 118. 3 day...

Small white round pill with P 12 on it

Have pills in zip-lock bag, which I have no idea what they are. Small, round, white, with P on top of the scored line and 12 on the bottom. Can someone help? ## The pill should actually be more of a light greenish color than white. P on top of a 12 (scored in between) is Levothyroxine 0.3 mg manufactured by Accord Healthcare (NDC 16729-0458). Levothyroxine is used to treat thyroid hormone deficiency (hypothyroidism), including Hashimoto's disease and a severe form known as myxedema coma. It may also be used to treat and prevent certain types of thyroid tumors.

Levothyroxine Feeling Numb

I've been on Levothyroxine for a couple years now but just recently have been feeling very, very numb after I take it. This feeling lasts practically until the next day. It's almost as if the ingredients have changed in the drug. I feel really weird in the head too. Before I would take it, I wouldn't feel half this bad. Anyone else feel like this? ## yes! althought i have only been taking it for 3 months, since i have started a new pack of the drug i have had heart palpatations and severe headaches and was admitted to hospital last night. what is going on?? ## Hello, I have been on levothyroxin since march of this year. Does levothyroxine cause acne

I have been taking 25mcg for about 6 weeks and feel much better, no weight loss, but no gain. I have developed acne on my chin and around the right side of my mouth...is this a side effect? Anyone else had this happen? ## ive been taking a 25mcg for a week now and am worried that i will develop acne. do many people get this ? ## I have been taking the same dosage as you for about 2 months and have had really bad breakouts EVERYWHERE that I didn't used to get. I now get them on my back, face, shoulders and neck. It's pretty gross and I've never had this problem before but I think it does have something to do with Levothyroxine. ## Hi, I am on thyroxine 4 weeks now and also have gotten acne on my chin and around the mouth. I am now 47 and have not had this problem since I was ...

Round White Pill Marked Tc One Side C The Other

Please identify small white round pill marked TC on one side and C on the other. Thank you ## Hello, I believe I have identified your pill as Levothyroxine sodium (100 mcg). From what I can gather, this specific pill is manufactured in the UK... Levothyroxine is typically used to treat hypothyroidism. It may also be used to treat goiter via its ability to lower thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), a hormone that is considered goiter-inducing. Adverse effects: Dosing must be carefully controlled to achieve TSH levels within the normal reference range. Long-term suppression of TSH values below normal values will frequently cause cardiac side-effects and contribute to decreases in bone mineral density (high TSH levels are also well known to contribute to osteoporosis). Patients prescribed to...

Levothyroxine100mg is no longer working for me ?

Hi, my100mg levothyroxine tablets are no longer working for me.I have been taking these for 2 years with a gradual spiralling weight gain. I am now tipping 12 stone instead of a normal 10 stones. I break out in hot sweats and have severe insomnia.. 6 days ago, I just collapsed and spent the day in bed instead. I have not taken levothyroxine since. Instead I am taking, high dose multi vitamins, sea kelp and selenium, I eat natural porridge for breakfast and high proteins of chicken and beef and green vegetables. I eat cheese in moderation and natural fruit juice but no bread. Am I doing the right things here ? Thank you for your time. ## HI, Margriet! Sorry about the issues that you're having. Levothyroxine and Ringing in the Ears

I was recently diagnosed with Hypothyroidism after having my thyroid tested and my TSH was 5.9. I have been taking Levothyroxine since the end of June. The middle of July I started having non-stop ringing in my ears and still continues. I also have experienced severe hair loss and cannot put weight ON. Is it okay to stop taking Levo to see if the ringing in my ears stop? I really don't want to be on this medication, but don't want to cause additional issues as I'm getting married soon. Appreciate any sound advice. ## I have been on levothyroxin for a good while now.i just had a week away and forgot my pills.BUT I feel good.i don't feel as tired I have less headaches.less noise/ringing ear noises.and basically feel better without my pills I don't think my doc will be ...

Please help. Is the levothyroxine making me crazy?

I was diagnosed with hypothyroid about 7 yrs ago. I was taking 50 mcg of levothyroxine up until now. I am currently 29 weeks pregnant and my new doctor put me on 125 mcg. My doc says i have to be on a higher dose during pregnancy or the baby will be born with birth defects or have learning disabilities. The road has been really rocky. My moods have been up and down, i suffer from severe depression, mood swings, horrible anger, memory loss, bad anxiety attacks and fear of loosing myself. I litterally feel crazy. I asked my doctor and there is nothing she can do except put me on some antidepressant. I dont think i need that and i dont really like takin meds like that. I absolutely think the levothyroxine is making me worse. I feel suicidal and thats not something i want to feel esp. durin...

Levothyroxine and heart rate

I wanted to know if anyone on Levothyroxine has this problem. I've been on 50 mcg of Levothyroxine for about two years (went off it for several months this past year but went back on it). Lately it feels like my heart is beating stronger and sometimes it beats somewhat faster. Taking a hot shower triggers rapid pounding heart beat. These symptoms come and go and seem to be helped if I drink a lot of water. It also seems to help if I get to bed at a decent hour and get enough sleep and eat the right foods and enough of them. The slightest amount of everyday stress can make my heart start beating in the way described. I've been sedentary quite a bit and getting exercise (Walking for 20 minutes) can be a challenge since I lack energy. Also I have been feeling anxiety and depression...

Amneal Levothyroxine

I'm changing from Armour Thyroid to generic Levothyroxine. Any feedback as to the quality of the manufacturer, Amneal? I'm a little dizzy, and my eyes hurt and are very dry. ## They are a reputable manufacturer, but Armour Thyroid and Levothyroxine are not exactly the same, though they do treat the same conditions, so it is normal that you may experience some side effects, when you first switch. Other side effects to Levothyroxine may include weight changes, nausea, and loss of facial hair. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? ## I changed from Amour Thyroid to Nature-Throid. Amour changed the inert ingredients and I became allergic to them. I am now on Nature-Throid and it is excellent. ## I have found that I can only take the Mylan brand for some reason. Pharmacy...

Levothyroxine and Osteoporosis

I had a thyroidectomy in 1988 for a non-toxic goiter and began taking Synthroid and then levothyroxine. In 2018 I had another thyroidectomy because the thyroid gland grew back. I'm now taking 1.50 mcg of the medication. I recently checked the monograph and discovered that this medication can cause osteoporosis. I was diagnosed with this in May of 2018 during a bone scan preceding the thyroid surgery. Has anyone else had a diagnosis of osteoporosis while taking levothyroxine? I'm pretty surprised that I would have this ailment even though I'm 75. I've never been a thin woman which seems to be the person who most often gets osteoporosis. ## No, but I feel so weak my bones, so much pain namb . :( I feel levothyroxine it’s the trigger of all my symptoms. levotiroxina sodica

I think this is the mexican version of levo throxine 100 mcg. ## I think they also call it that in South America. Maybe if you check the page on Levothyroxine you might be able to find out useful informations. ## I take 75 mcg of levothyroxin daily and was able to get sintrocid/levotiroxina sodica in Mexico. Am I going to be taking the same medication? ## Yes, this is the Spanish name for Levothyroxine, they should be equivalent, as long as the dosage is the same. However, foreign medications are not always FDA approved and regulated, so you do need to be careful as it may not meet U.S. purity and potency standards, which is why I stated 'should be equivalent". There is no way to know more, without more details. Do you have any other information, such as markings on them, or the...

Insurance Covers Medication But Forced to Pay Cash?

Yesterday, I had an appointment with a brand new doctor that is in another state. He wrote me a prescription for a month supply of my medication and after stopping at and calling approximately 35 different pharmacies attempting to get the medication filled, I was given the name of a pharmacy by a very kind gentleman that had experienced the same problem. The medication I take is unfortunately very hard to get a prescription filled for if your doctor is not within your state and I live basically on the border of two other states, MD and PA. I called the pharmacy I was given the name of and indeed they did agree to fill the prescription. I inquired about acceptance of my insurance before going to the pharmacy and they stated that yes they did accept insurance and they would run the medica...

Levothyroxine vs. Levothyroxin

I had thyroid cancer and had a TT in 2017. I've been on Levothyroxine 150mcg for almost a year. The pills have always been light blue colored and round with a stamp of jsp on one side and 520 on the other side of them. I recently switched pharmacy and just opened them to discover the label says Levothyroxin 150 mcg tab Santos. They are blue, oval and say 150 on one side and GG 338 on the other. They look NOTHING alike and are not called the same. There was plenty of room on label, so its not that there wasn't room for the 'e' at the end. Am I taking the same stuff? It's been hell getting my levels right and I have nodules growing again and monitoring my antibodies for the cancer. I cannot afford to be on a lesser effective drug. Are these the same? They sure look tot...

Levothyroxine interactions with heart medication

Can Eliquis, Digoxin, and Diltiazem all be taken at the same time as my Levothyroxine? You should notify your doctor if you have symptoms of nausea, loss of appetite, visual changes, slow pulse, or irregular heartbeats. Digoxin -> Levothyroxine You may need dose adjustments in order to safely take both medications together. This combination of drugs may decrease your digoxin levels.
