what is the shelf like of carbi/levodopa 25/100 arlene ## Hello, Arlene! How are you? If they are in a bottle as dispensed by your pharmacy, tablets expire one year from the date they were dispensed to you, because they are then exposed to the elements that cause degradation. If they are in the originally factory sealed bottle, they are usually good for at least 3 years, from the date of sealing. This medication is most commonly used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, hypotension and vivid dreams. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi , now that Synaptic Forte is no longer available. Is there a replacement that is as good as Synaptic. Thanks

Generally, they all increase the effects of each other, thus the dosages should be carefully calculated by your doctor and they should be monitoring you regularly to stave off any problems. I have talked to several people who have said that they did not have good results when they were switched from the brand to the generic. I am having trouble with walking. I think maybe I could be having trouble because I am using the generic, Have you seen patients that have had similar complaints? Thanks ## Hi, Ginger! Sorry about the problem that you're having. There are always people that have problems with generics, because there can be fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient, when switching from the name brand to the generic. It doesn't affect everyone, but some people are sensitive to any change, or it can occur if you were taking the name brand for a very long time. Learn more Levodopa details here. Have you tried asking your doctor to prescribe it as the bran...

I need to know who is the manufacturer of this medication? My dad uses this medication for Parkinson's related tremors. ## How long does it take for carbo/levo to get into your system and take effect? Is this a time released medication? ## In regards to the first question for anyone looking for information in the future: Without knowing more details, such as the markings on them, there is no way for anyone to tell you who the manufacturer is, since this is a generic that is made by several different companies. Thus, if that's the information you need, you'll have to include more details in your post, preferably any markings that are on the tablets. As to how long it takes to start working, most tablets take about 15 to 20 minutes, once ingested. However, it will take about 4...

THE MEDICATION IS FOR PARKINSONB ## Hey George, From what I could gather, Levodopa is in a class of medications called central nervous system agents. It works by being converted to dopamine in the brain. Carbidopa is in a class of medications called decarboxylase inhibitors. It works by preventing levodopa from being broken down before it reaches the brain. This allows for a lower dose of levodopa, which causes less nausea and vomiting. I have to let them know before hand what will be in my system. ## Hi Rachel, For a full list of possible adverse effects, I would recommend taking a look at the link below (and scrolling down to section on Side Effects): As far as drug testing goes, the user guidelines indicate that before having any laboratory test, tell your doctor and the laboratory personnel that you are taking levodopa and carbidopa. Levodopa and carbidopa can cause false results in urine tests for sugar (Clinistix, Clinitest, and TesTape) and ketones (Acetest, Ketostix, and Labstix). what is the effective half life and absorption rate expected for carb/levo extended release 50/200 mg tab mylan? ## Elimination half-life of levodopa in the presence of carbidopa is about 1.5 hours. Following Carbidopa and Levodopa extended-release, the apparent half-life of levodopa may be prolonged because of continuous absorption. The extended-release formulation releases levodopa and carbidopa over a 4-6 hour period. I'm not quite sure what this equates to in terms of half life. But to be safe I would estimate the half-life to last an extra couple hours. As far as absorption rate goes, the extended release tabs have a bioavailability rate of 0.70 to 0.75. The approx. amount of bioavailable Levodopa in each tab is 140 to 150mg out of the 200mg pill. I hope this helps!
