Levaquin Is Poison

Updated

I was given levaquin post pneumonia to combat another suspected respiratory infection. Within two weeks every joint in my body hurt. That lasted 8 weeks. During that time I experienced a vitreo macular separation in my right eye. Soon after this my hair began to fall out. I lost about 50% of it. My symptoms have subsided but I realize I am one of the lucky ones. This drug is toxic to so many people. I have taken cipro in the past with no ill effect but levaquin put me over the edge. Never again. My heart goes out to those who continue to suffer.

Hello, Makkay! How are you doing, now? I'm very sorry about what you went through.

Actually, from the posts I've read on here over the past year, it seems many more people are starting to have bad reactions to various antibiotics. I'm not sure if it's due to overuse, but it is getting much more common.

Is this the only one you've had a problem with?

This is the only antibiotic that has ever had a negative impact on me. I am not generally a sensitive person as regards medication. I am faring well at this point. I'm very thankful that I had no permanent damage or lingering effects. Thanks for inquiring.

I'm a cipro sufferer since dec 4 2013. I feel your pain. Since about yesterday it was discontinued. I'm a bit bummed bc people were sharing what had worked for them. Such as modified citrus pectin.

Makkay, I'm so sorry about your symptoms. But thank you so much for sharing your experience here. This is a common problem and people need to start researching drugs before they just take them. The Side Effects of Levaquin can be devastating and life changing. We need to get the word out to never ever take these drugs unless the infection is life-threatening and there are no better alternatives. I wish that doctors understood this, but they seem to keep right on prescribing this class of antibiotics for minor infections. Not cool.

I cured my Levaquin toxicity with chlorella. Chlorella is a green algae superfood that detoxifies the body of heavy metals. It is also nutrient-dense and provides high amounts of magnesium and other essential vitamins and minerals that Levaquin and other quinolones can cause deficiencies of. I took a tablespoon of chlorella for 2 months. I am now cured. My insomnia and heart palpitations are gone. Chlorella is also high in protein so I still take it as part of my diet for overall health. The brand I used was "Nutricost." You can get 300 grams of chlorella on Amazon for only $15 dollars. I hope this information helps someone because all the doctors I saw were completely useless to me. Levaquin didn't even cure the infection it was prescribed for. I am now supplementing with monolaurin, a natural antibiotic/probiotic combo. I take 3 grams, twice a day for chronic prostate infection. After 10 months, my symptoms are lower than ever. I expect to be cured within the next 6 months. Thanks for reading and I hope this information helps someone.

Eddie,
With your Levaquin Toxicity, did you only have heart palpitations & insomnia? Or did you also have the tendon pain in the achilles, ankles, and tendon pain in general. I'm getting the impression from your post that you did not have the tendon issues since you didn't mention that. I was just wondering if Chlorella helped your tendon pain... if you had tendon pain in achilles, etc...
