Lentogesic Capsules Query

Updated

I have been taking Lentogesic Capsules - 60 a month for a long time. I have encountered problems in the last few months of Paralysis in my legs especially the one leg. I have traced all of my tablets side effects on the internet and have found that it is not any of those tablets. I have had scans, xrays and all sorts of tests in hospital by specialists and they cannot find any physical problem as to why I have paralysis in my legs. I then decided if they cannot help me I will research on the Internet myself. After lengthy researches I can only put this paralysis in my legs down to the Lentogesic as I started this problem when I started the tablets and did not realise it until I started researching after seeing that even the Specialists cannot help me. I would appreciate some feedback or any suggestions from the Manufacturers of Lentogesic Capsules. I am certain that the Lentogesic has bad side effects and I need help to fix it as I am 45 years old and have never ever had a probem with Paralysis. It is so bad that I even have to have homecare some days. The pain I have is unbearable. Can you suggest any other painkillers as i am still on the lentogesic Capsules. I am certain that it is the Lentogesic causing the actual paralysis. Please help me with advice or suggestions. Thank you very much.

this site does not manufacture any medications, this is an information only website. So, I can provide you with some details on the medication.

Lentogesic contains the active ingredients Paracetamol and Dextropropoxyphene.

What all kinds of tests did your doctors perform?

There are several possibilities here for how the medication may be causing the issue.

One is the Acetaminophen, it can cause blood thinning, which could have resulted in bleeding somewhere in your body, that is causing the paralysis by affecting or pressing on your nerves. If this has happened, the damage could be permanent.

The second would be related to possible cardiac problems. All medications relating to Propoxyphene have been removed from the market in many countries, due to the cardiac problems it has been proven to cause, which in some cases has resulted in permanent injury or death. Cardiac issues have been known to cause paralysis, numbness and/or pain, in some people.

If this is the case, then the solution can be as simple as discontinuing the medication.

As to other possibilities for pain relief, without knowing what country you are in, I cannot make any suggestions.

Hi, thank you for getting back to me regarding the ingredients and the possible causes of the paralysis. I am quite concerned that the Acetaminophen can cause paralysis which could be permanent and that if you have possible cardiac problems from the Propoxyphene which caused the medication to be removed from the market if I understand you correctly can also cause paralysis. I still have severe problems with paralysis as mentioned before in my hands, arms and legs. I am also worried that the damage could be permanent. I did mention the tests the doctors did. I think I must go back and explain to them that I have been taking Lentogesic for a very long time with the above ingredients so that they can do the correct tests and follow up. Please could you send me the Name and Number of the Manufacturer of Lentogesic so I can contact them as well. Maybe they can also advise me. I thank you once again for your assistance and help. Sorry I almost forgot to mention that I live in South Africa.
