I am taking 10 mg lasix twice daily and 20 meq potassium daily. Is this a good ratio? ## Hello, Eugene! How are you? Are these the doses your doctor has prescribed? There's really no definitive rate that I can give you for how much potassium Lasix depletes from the body, it can vary from person to person. Have you actually tested as being low in potassium? The FDA lists the typical side effects of Lasix as possibly including nausea, dizziness, increased urination, hypotension and dehydration. The potassium is known to irritate the stomach, so it should only be taken with food.

My dog just had a mass removed..the vet.sent her home w this stuff. I cant believe after four hrs n no recovery time w a drain they would release her. ## @Jessica, Sorry to hear about this experience with your dog. Unfortunately it sounds to me like the vet was in a rush to get it done and over with. But at least she is back in good hands now :) I looked up Pet-Tinic on Amazon and for the most part it seemed to be getting rave reviews. Although I haven't come across many personal reviews on Torbugesic. Can you tell whether or not the medications have been effective at all? ## Ty david..I will never let that butcher ever touch my dog again. If u saw what she looked like..ud cry! my mother is eighty four and her ankles swell she is on lasix and plenish k but she gets up about every half an hour at night to go to toilet but sometimes nothing comes out and she says that when she gets back to bed that her bladder is full. she has got an endicrone seal or something. Can she take urispas with the lasix and plenish k and how much fluid should she drink a day? ## Hello, Barbara! How is your mother doing? Rather than adding another medication on your own, your mother needs to discuss this with her doctor. Retaining fluid like that can be very dangerous and could lead to congestive heart failure, which may put her life at risk. At her age, this just isn't something worth trying to treat yourself. What dose does she take of the Lasix?

My 87 year old mom is staying with me at Christmas. I have LASIK and potassium that are supposed to be given 20mg and 10 mg respectively. Can I half the dose? ## Hello, Anita! How are you? Yes, as long as tablet, such as the Lasix isn't time released or marked that you shouldn't cut, break or chew it, it is okay to do so, but you should always make sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. The potassium, however, is one of those that is usually marked not to be broken, cut, crushed or etc. It can cause severe irritation of the stomach if that is done, so it needs to be taken whole. Is there anything else I can help with?

water pill ## Can anyone discribe what this pill looks like, I have 80mgs Furosemida by Serral that I bought in mexico (with a valid perscription) as a generic for lasix. I want to make sure I didn't get ripped off. ## This is listed as containing Furosemide, which is known by the name brand Lasix in the U.S., but I can't provide information on what it looks like, since it isn't available here in the U.S., so it isn't listed in the databases here. You can learn more Furosemide details here. This is a loop diuretic which is commonly used to treat high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. Since it removes fluid from the body, it can easily cause dehydration, if you aren't careful, so follow your doctor's recommendations on the amount of fluid you should tak...

My wife is suffering from MCD (Minimal Change Disease) and has been prescribed the above drugs by the Nephrologist. However, she has started experiencing acute cramps all over her legs and hands. Please advice or share experience. ## I am not a medical doctor but have some understanding of the diuretic due to use of these on my parents. The cramps are a result of loss of potassium due to use of Lasix type of diuretic, and reduced loss of potassium due to use of Dytor type of diuretic. Normally potassium chloride is recommended to substitute for potassium loss and to take care of the cramps. My advice is to see a good physician and get an opinion on this. Cramps are highly debilitating and painful and hence I am responding to this. My mother who had been on prolonged dytor use had cramps...

circular no imprints whatsoever white with a rounded top and bottom do not taste like mints ## I found these tiny small pills in my daughters room. they are white with no number or letter or mark of any kind. It looks like a briath mint the top and back are round but from the side it looks like a cylinder ## Probably 40 mg Lasix Water Loss Pills. Used in Bodybuilding and other competitions to drop about 4lbs in a few hours. ## If there are no markings, it is difficult to determine what they contain. They can be ruled out as being a U.S. manufactured prescription tablet, since they are all required to have imprints to enable their identification in case of emergency. However, there is a small chance that they are foreign medications and a very big chance they are just an over the counter...

My husband is prescribed lasix as well as several other meds for early stages of CHF. He took his drug test last week and they sent it to a lab because it was "unconclusive". Today they fired him because the urine was diluted. Can they do that if he has scripts for them?

I took around 15 to 30mg of ms contin then drank half gallon of water and half gallon tea and took 2 lasix and alka seltzer, I had a drug test 2 1/2 days later think I could have passed the drug test? I haven't taken any prior to that. ## Did you pass the test? I can see it has been awhile since this was posted. For future reference for anyone that reads this, MS Contin contains the narcotic Morphine in a time released formulation and like most other narcotics, it is generally detectable for approximately 4 to 5 days, after last use. There is, however, no precise time frame that can be given, because individuating factors will always come into play, such as a person's metabolism, overall health, activity levels and etc. ## i took one ms contin and showed positive 9 days later. t...

my mom having this tab, she have a sweling body is this a side effect . ## Has she consulted her doctor? How long has she been taking it? It might be the sign of an allergic reaction and she should contact her doctor immediately. ## Hi. My grandmother is 70+ and she has just recently managed to get her sodium levels under control, they were quite low. Also she is diabetic but thats under control, her BP is usually in the 140 range, cant really help that because she needs to take salt capsules to regain her sodium during summers and the monsoon season. Now, she has been experiencing a sudden weight gain, with excessive swelling to the feet. That came down a bit with a 5 day dosage of lasix 40mg, cant continue as she may lose electrolytes again. So, the doc asked to get her TSH checked wh...

My mom gets Lasix from Canada - it's a yellow tablet. She went down to the Caribbean and they gave her a white tablet that does not seem to work as well. What is the mg and type of Lasix that is contained in the yellowish tablet? I need to get her a prescription for that instead of the white ones...not sure if the Caribbean even sells the same version at all?

This Drug was sent to me as a Generic for Lasix, it was marked Furosemide TAB 40MG. But it dosen't look like anything I have taken before. Can someone tell me is it a Generic Lasix? ## Yes, this tablet also contains 40mgs of Furosemide, the active ingredient in Lasix, it's just manufactured by a different company. It is normal for pharmacies to supply generics from different companies, depending on whomever was offering the cheapest price at the time they had to restock their supply. This is how they keep their prices as low as possible for customers that do not have insurance. Is there anything else I can help with?

my mom is in a quack rehab place. they are giving her lasix for water retention and restricting her water to 1200 cc's per day and giving her sodium tabs 3 times a day. it sounds like some has their head where the sun doesn't shine. she never had edema in her entire life. she fell and broke a hip. and I think these people are going to kill her, out of stupidity, not maliciousness. help! ## Have you spoken to her doctor(s) about your concerns? It is a misconception that someone needs at least 2 liters of water daily, because you also take in fluids in other ways, such as in what you eat. If they have a concern about her retaining fluid, or possibly developing congestive heart failure, then it is normal for them to restrict her fluid intake and to use the Lasix to help draw out an...

supposedly lasix replacement ## This tablet contains 50mgs of Furosemide, the active ingredient in Lasix, which is a diuretic used to reduce the amount of fluid in the body. Was this given as a prescription for a human, or an animal? This tablet is actually listed under veterinary medications and is usually prescribed for dogs, though there are quite a few medications that cross over, from humans to animals.

My farther is 89 and already diagnosed with heart failure. Congestive Heart Failure. From my poor knowledge this might be Diastolic heart failure as he has fluid accumulation in the feet, ankles and legs. This was initially controlled by lasix,, Aldactone and angizaar/Lorsatum then the fluid was lost but legs remain with stiff muscles. Then later prednisolone was introduced and now he is too weak to walk. Is this combination of drug correct? How can we help him to relieve the problem of stiff muscles?
