I am a thyroidectomy hyperthyroidism 45 year old female with hypokalemia on 30 meq's a day but I also take 80 mgs of Lasix. 9 out of ten times my potassium is low but I have been eating so much food with potassium that mine was at 10 last time and I was in the emergency room and I cannot find a doctor, not at a hospital in my area that doesn't have a 3 month wait. Is there a way to get your blood taken without an emergency room? I have insurance, just do not trust hospitals. They treat you like a rotating door and you never accomplish anything. HELP. PLEASE. ## Your doctor can order blood work, some blood draws are done right at their office, or at the hospital lab, but neither requires you to go to the ER. What reason did they give for a 3 month wait? Usually, if you've had...

I purchased what should have been Lasix 100 mg ..it says "Lusix 100 mg". The generic name should be furosemide and on the packaging it says "frusemide". There are no markings on the pills and I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? The envelope came from Combitic global caplet pvt ltd? Any suggestions? ## Honestly from the way you put it, this sounds like a classic case of a counterfeit. Deliberate misspellings for otherwise common drug names is the biggest red flag in my opinion. I'm not saying that Combitic Global Caplet is a fake manufacturer (though I could be mistaken), but perhaps whoever is distributing these products is putting on some sort of front for the real deal, if you know what I mean. On that note, Combitic Global Caplet does appea...

Is this lasix ## I got the same thing... it doens't seem nearly as potent as other lasix I've had. I'm wondering if it's fake. Or thinking it is. Notice it can't be found anywhere. ## Yes, it contains the same active ingredient as Lasix, which is Furosemide. It is commonly used to treat high blood pressure, certain cardiac conditions, congestive heart failure and GERD. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, frequent urination, hypotension, and dehydration. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was prescribed Pota chloride 8meq because I take Lasix for fluid retention and was told I needed to take a potassium supplement to replenish lost Potassium through the fluids I'll eliminate. Is there OTC potassium and natural foods I can take to just add potassium instead of continue to take the prescription? ## There any many natural foods that contain generous amounts of potassium. I supposed the most popular food is bananas. They say roughly 4-5 medium sized bananas a day reaches the daily value for the average adult; however, I know that we're all different and require different amounts depending on our current levels, so there's no one-size fits all approach, outside of tailoring your diet to meet your unique needs. I've just had an open heart surgery valve replacement the mitral one and it's been two months now. So I'm taking cardiocor, warfarin, synaleve or still pains if needed, slow k and mylan furosemide. So the lasix was draining me too much and two weeks back I stopped taking it. I am fine,no swollen stomach or legs and I drink not more than 1litre of fluids a day. Since I urinate very well should I continue not taking the lasix or do I have to take it until the doctor tells me to stop?

This pill was in my script for Lasix. It is smaller and thicker with scored halves. Looks like 54 on top and 583 on the bottom. Thanks for any feedback! ## A while pill with 54 over 583 is manufactured by Roxane Laboratories and they list it as containing 40mgs of Furosemide, which is a generic for Lasix. (NDC 0054-4299). Inactive Ingredients: - Silicon Dioxide - Lactose Monohydrate - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Starch, Corn - Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - Sodium Starch Glycolate Type a Potato - Stearic Acid Ref: DailyMed ## Are you sure it doesn't say 543 instead of 583? If so then it would be percocet, a narcotic (oxycodone) pain pill.

My 40lb Cattle Dog got ahold of my lasix pills I take for a heart condition. I cannot account for several 20mg pills. Are these pills toxic for dogs, and should I take him to the vet? Any advice would be helpful. ## On this I have to say: Yes, please contact your veterinarian! There are some medications that can be used cross-species, with dosing adjustments, but not all can be used safely in dogs. My son use to take meth, but has been clean for over 70 days. He takes 60 mg ritlian a day, 20 - 40 mg lasix a day, potassium each day. On days that he has a migraine headache he will take 2 Excedrin Migraine tables with a can of coke, and repeat it every 4 - 6 hours until the headache goes away. He is on probation so has to have two or three urine drug test a week. My mother aged 87 years has started taking Nexito Plus for the past 3 days. She used to have panic / anxiety attacks in the night, and hence was prescribed Nexito plus instead of Revotril (0.25 mg). She did not sleep during the past two nights, and today has been sleeping through the day. Towards evening, she became more drowsy and is sleeping soundly with very little reaction. Her pulse rate is varying between 52 - 57. Oxygen saturation is 95-99. She is also on Lasix (40mg) - 1/2 tablet twice a day. Should we let her sleep ? Is it one of the effects of using Nexito plus ? Should we do something else ? ## Yes, drowsiness can be a side effect of this medication, according to the U.S. FDA, she may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability. I have a temp of 96.6. I'm also weak and have no stamina. I also fave A-Fib which I know affects stamina but now it's worse. ## Are you on any medications? If so, what do you take? Some of them can cause such symptoms as side effects, according to the FDA. I've experienced it myself with several cardiac/blood pressure medications. Is there a chance that you may be dehydrated? These could also be symptoms of it, according to AMA reports. ## My meds go back several years. I doubled my lasix per docs recommendation and helped stamina. My low temp apparently from defective thermometer. Sorry about that.

Hi I have been on 20 meq 3 times a day for a week. My potassium levels were at 2.2 at the time the doctor prescribed them for me. I am on 20 mg of lasix a day for kidney issues. I am going back to doc next week for more blood work. Do you think my levels will be increased greatly? ## They should improve over the week, but there's no way to say how much. I've generally found them to work very fast, though. The FDA warns that they can be very hard on the stomach, so they should be taken with food. As to the low potassium levels, Lasix has been known to cause that, so you might want to ask your doctor about switching to a potassium sparing diuretic. Is there anything else I can help with?

Diabetic- stage 4 kidney failure on 40 mg Lasix daily 80 meq Potassium Chloride ER daily. Seems like a lot of Potassium. Doctor won't talk to me about it just tells me to take it. ## The medication Lasix is used to help remove excess fluid from the body, but while doing so, it also tends to remove potassium, which is why such supplements are often prescribed along with it. 80meq is not really that high of a dose. It is very important to maintain a good potassium level as being either too high or too low can both cause dangerous health problems. The FDA warns that it is very rough on the stomach and should be taken with food. Is there anything else I can help with?
