Klonopin Brand Name (Page 3)

Updated

I've been unable to find Klonopin (brand name) at any pharmacy. Although I've taken this medication for several years, this is the first time I've been unable to find it. I've been told the manufacturer (Roche) has it on backorder. Some say it's no longer available. I cannot take the generic as I get a serious migraine. Does anyone have any suggestions where I might get a Rx filled?

I was told by October back in July. I'm completely out of name brand now (I was mixing name brand with generic) and I'm on teva generic and there is definitely a big difference. I hope they soon get Klonopin back in stock.

For those with Epilepsy this is a disgrace. I can see if someone were abusing but this is going to cause people to end up in the hospital or worse.

Hope that's true about Jersey getting it. However, I thought I read that the New Jersey Roche manufacturer shut down last year and everything is basically coming from the San Francisco facility. Doesn't matter to me, just so it gets to Pa soon. There's no way I want back on that roller coaster drug xanax or anything similar. Brand name Klonopin always worked for me because it lasts so long in my system.

As far as I can tell it was suppose to have started production October 11th and be available the last week in October. If anyone finds out otherwise, let us know.

Where is the information that says production started Oct. 11?

Called Genentech today. They say late October but nothing specific. Transferred me to one of their pharmacists but was on hold way too long and then transferred back to the operator who said one of them would call me. Not holding my breath!

I got this from another Klonopin forum posted just a few days ago:

It is oct 11th. You can call Roche to report a product complaint at: (800) 334-0290. Their hours are Monday-Friday, 5:30 am to 4 pm PST. Also contact the FDA in DC… maybe this will help speed up the process. When I spoke to them they said by the last week in october. I am taking a generic which is not working as well as it should. Does anyone know of a pharmacy in NJ that carries Klonopin?

He definitely talked to them and was told it would be accessible by the last week in October.

this shortage is a blatent disregard for customer safety.the mfgr of klonopin seems to have zero concern for the stoppage of klonopin distribution. they stopped the mfgr of klonopin without so much as a peep to even the prescribing doctors leaving millions at risk for serious effects of sudden stoppage.

i contacted roche and they tell me that a reformulation was a necessary fda requirement but i think its politically motivated by insurance companies and healthcare providers to shake lose the people taking it without the real need with no regard to the people that have a real need for this medicine and since roche seems to have little fear of a legal suit for its unexplained unindicated stoppage the government must be backing the stoppage. roche is also very evasive as to its production date and seems to have little regard for even its own warnings that sudden stoppage of taking this medication can cause serious side effects and in some cases cause stroke or even death. more to follow.....

Genentech Pharmaceutical returned my call today indicating Klonopin should be available by the end of October... the last week in Oct. I questioned him about the change in dates, the issues involved that caused this production pause, if any of the ingredients were sourced from China, etc. Of course, he was non-committal on all those questions. Repeated the phrase we've all heard.... just a review of the production of Klonopin. He said he didn't have a list of the ingredients and the source of them in front of him. I recommended they make a point of following up with patients who had called and letting them know when production begins again. He said he would see that's done. I believe little of what he said, just that the best date he has at this time is late Oct. Stayed tuned! I think we do need a legal suit!

This shortage seemed to catch up to me in June or so. I've been on Name brand Klonopin since the very late 90's. Yes I know that's a while but it's been well worth it. I have no choice but to live with a disease. However my quality of life has been extremely improved by Klonopin. Anyhow, Gen nor Roche contacted my pharmacy or my doctor. No one knew. My doctor got the "unavailable now" just like everyone else. I know my pharmacist personally. He just kept being told it's "not available" right now. My pharmacist has been ordering it since then everyday, not knowing they stopped production. I don't think they care about the patients, doctors or pharmacies. Which tells me its either money driven or they did hit fda red tape. Maybe it was both. For example, they changed the formula for some reason then it got flagged by the fda. Another thing to remember is that name brand klonopin has many different names when you leave the U.S.. If you research it you'll see that Roche klonopin is still being sold outside the U.S. under Klonopins alias foreign names.

I too have been taking brand Klonopin since the 1990s. Have almost adjusted to being without it, but cannot sleep. My primary care doc had prescribed generic Ambien but keeps me awake. Had office visit with him today and he just didn't want to prescribe the brand name. He finally did, then I had to engage with my insurance company and they're not committed to paying for it. Cannot afford $34
$340 for one month's supply. Will see if there's resolution tomorrow. Genentech returned my call and said Klonopin will be available near the end of October.

Yep Bonita, that's your typical insurance response to name brand drugs. I have good BC BS and it happens to me allot. My insurance rates go up every year but they keep paying less for drugs every year. It's all about the money. Drives Dr and patients crazy, which I suspect its what they want to do, so that most people will just go on the generic instead of fighting for the drug their Dr prescribes, making insurance companies billions. Has anyones pharmacist looked up Klonopin and seen the date in the last week in October or is all this still coming from Gen/Roche?
