Klonopin Brand Name (Page 2)

I've been unable to find Klonopin (brand name) at any pharmacy. Although I've taken this medication for several years, this is the first time I've been unable to find it. I've been told the manufacturer (Roche) has it on backorder. Some say it's no longer available. I cannot take the generic as I get a serious migraine. Does anyone have any suggestions where I might get a Rx filled?

Maybe they have stared production but don't have any available at this time to distribute. If this is the case, maybe it won't be long now but if it isn't, then it would be good to know one way or the other if they are actually producing it anyway.

Called again today. I asked if it was in production yet and they said no. Again, I think the more people that call the better.

I began to call my local pharmacies to find the brand Klonapin and received the same answer; they are out of stock and would try to special order. My usual pharmacist contacted their supplier and found out the drug will not be available until December 1st! Each time I ask the date keeps getting pushed. I have issues with the generic version mainly that it doesn't work the same. When I realized this, I continued on the brand even if it meant a higher copay. I was glad to find the comments from others as know it is not just me. I will be seeing my doctor and finding out about trying an alternative like Xanax. Wondering if making this change will involve withdrawal symptoms from Klon. Hoping that is not the case.

I cannot take generics !!! Ambulance took me to ER because my heart started racing ( reaction to Klonopin generic ) !!! IT IS OCTOBER, when Genentech said Klonopin would be available again.......It is not. I have taken the generic because Genentech forced me to........and as I said,,,,,,,I cannot take generics,,,,,,,,,so are you ( Genentech ) telling the truth???? WILL KLONOPIN brand EVER be back on the market????? This is nightmare !!!! WHEN or WHERE can I get Klonopin??????? Wrote to Roche to see if suppliers overseas could help. That was just yesterday.......PLEASE be responsible and help !!!!! PLEASE !!!

Is it December the same for all supplies or could it be it will be anyone like available in October but maybe later to some supplies? I remember this happened back in 2011. I went to get a refill in February 2011 and got a partial fill as it was on backorder and I was told April, then it was May, then it was June, and finally I was able to get it filled the first to second week in July. That was 7 months it was on backorder. Now here it is 3 years later and it has been on backorder for several months. How long has it actually been unavailable, March or April?

Where are you that pharmacist said no brand klonopin till December ? The generics are horrible!! I'm miserable. Tried Xanax and it was bad also.

Hi Elizabeth,
When I called the 800# today I told the pharmacist that I tried the generic several times over the 24 years that I've taken Klonopin. I said my anxiety and panic attacks were horrific and added that my daughter had the same reaction. She immediately said would you speak to our safety division. I said absolutely and answered questions about the generic. Did you have the same experience? I think if more and more of us call it may help get them to stanufacturing. I think it comes down to economics.

I took the generic back in 2008 and it was from Purpac. It made my throat and stomach suffer a severe reaction with severe burning. Just that one pill. I didn't take another one, it took almost a week for my stomach and esophagus to heal. I reported it to MEDWATCH and the FDA checked into it. I filled a formal complaint and they called me asking a lot of questions. I was honest. That was the reaction I had and it actually cause damage. That is why I am afraid to try another generic. This pill was hard as a rock and it was something definitely in the binders that caused it. I had a few named brand left and took one and thank God, it did not cause any issues at all, that proved to me that it was the INACTIVE ingredient not the Active ingredient.

I was informed by Walgreens about it being on back order until December. At first, I was able to receive the brand at CVS but no longer. I called local chains like Rite Aid and Walmart. Same response about ordering but would not know how long unless brought in script. It gets ridiculous going from place to place. Also to buy it by other means like through Canada would be paying the full cost. Doubt I could afford it.

Hi, I went to my local Walgreens just this past week. They called the distributer when I was there and was told December. Previously, they had said Sept. 15th. I had to fill genericly since ran out. I only ran into this situation within the last few months. Think every pharmacy maybe different. When Walgreens said couldn't fill, I went to CVS and they had a supply. Now they can't fill it either.

Have you called Genetech (the manufacturer of Klonopin) 1-877-436-3683 recently to report your reactions to the generics. Their safety department recorded everything I told them about my terrible experiences with the generics. Please pass this on to everyone you know that is desperate to get the real Klonopin!!!! I think we should all flood them with calls asking when Klonopin will be available.

Have you called Genetech and asked to talk to their Safety Department? They will take down all of your information about reactions etc.

While we all wait for the brand/Klonopin to be back in order in December, can we share the best generic out of these major manufacturers: Actavis and/or Watson, Teva, Qualitest, Accord and all others. Please state which generic works well for you, and in comparison to the brand.

All generics are not created equal. I learned this when I tried buspirone. When I was first prescribed this medication, I got it in Teva brand and did nothing. I refused to give up on it after reading some positive reviews. It was when I tried Watson did I know that all generics were not created equal. I did so much better on Watson that I never needed taking my benzos. Watson makes some of the best generic benzos out there...research. Always ranked on par with Roche Klonopin, Diazepam and Pfizer/Xanax. However, it was bought out by Actavis.

I hope you guys reply, share what generic you are taking, if its working well for you, tell us what that generic manufacturer is. It would be helpful for all others to get what works pending when Klonopin will be back to order.

I think that should be a different thread. So far, this one focuses on information about WHEN Klonopin will be available. It helps to hear what others are told and find out. If another topic is started, such as which generic is best, then the posts will be mixed with: Klonopin News, and different generic debates. Just my opinion. Google generic klonopin and you will find lots of info on different generics.

I called CVS today and asked them to check with their wholesaler about when Klonopin would be available. The wholesaler told them there was no date for when it would be available. So MAYBE it will be sooner than Dec. I also called another pharmacy and asked them the same thing, I am supposed to hear tomorrow. Hopefully, it will be available in October. Genentech may not notify wholesalers until they are ready to ship. I do not know how the process works. But I hope it is October not Dec. Everyone should call Genentech 800-821-8590

I've been taking Roche Klon for a decade/
There was a supply Glich in 2011 too.

BUT this looks to me like they've decided to STOP making it and Are forcing people to make various substitutions.

If people can make six months without it, they can go forever
Weaning people off it is Clearly their intent.

I wonder if Generics are Paying Roche.

BTW there are some pretty horrifying studies (September) out there for Long Term use of these benzos and Alzeheimers rates thru the roof. Google away.

It's a quality control issue on one of the inactive ingredients. Some people need it to control Seizures e.g. me. The named brand is the best at doing that for me.

I hope they have it available soon. The FDA ( when it was updated on August 27th) projected the supply to be available in October 2014. That is the way it is worded " The Supply " so that would indicate if the supply is available then it should be ready for a refill. They assured me they were not discontinuing it and also said they are doing everything they possibly can to have it back on the market as quickly as possible. Let me know if anyone hears anything from them or any updates at all.

Called Krogers today asked them to check with their wholesaler. Their wholesaler showed a date of Nov. 20.

Kroger pharmacist told me that may fluctuate as they get more information.
