It was recommended by the members of a separate thread that one be started that directly relates to ketamine and it's use to treat depression. If anyone besides myself would like to discuss it's use as a treatment for depression, feel free to post your questions, answers and experiences here. This thread is an offshoot of a related one that discussed a treatment of Scopolamine for depression. ## thanks michael- yes, i am very interested in hearing about your experience so far with ketamine. both the iv application and the nasal route. i'm not too keen on the nasal route, but like i said, i will try that first due to cost. so, how you feeling? john ## Thanks for setting up this Discussion Michael! I hope we can share experiences here to help everyone. The cost of getting reli...

I tried ketamine infusions twice for depression and had horrible side effects like I always do from anesthesia. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is an alternative method available yet like pill form or nasal spray. My Dr did not know. I was so optimistic this would fix my depression but am now frustrated that I can't tolerate the IV experince. I live in ohio but travel often for my job so I could potentially see a Dr in another state if anyone has suggestions. Thanks in advance. ## What side effects did you experience? Could please post back and be more specific? The side effects will not change, from one dosage form to another, in most cases, and the FDA warns that it may cause headache, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, mood changes, and weight changes. Are you on any other me...

Is there anyone who has had RSD/CRPS FOR A LONG ENUFF TIME TO WHERE IT WAS UNDER CONTROL WITH MEDS AND MAINTAINABLE AND THEN ALMOST 20 YEARS LATER IT GOT JUST AS BAD IF NOT WORSE AS WHEN I FIRST HOT IT IN 1993..I NOW HAVE TO TREAT IT LIKE I DID BACK ALL THOSE YEARS AGO WITH THE HEAVY MEDS AND ALL THE PAIN N POLITICAL BS THAT IS GOING ON WITH MEDS AND DOC'S NOW...ANY SUGGESTIONS ON DIFFERENT DOSAGES OF MEDS THAT MIGHT WORK BETTER THAN BEFORE THAT I CAN BRING UP WITH MY NEW DOC. ## Ketamine. Also, Gabapentin and Lyrica are facing litigation and may soon disappear. ## Conditions such as RSD/CRPS tend to be degenerative, so it can be normal for things to worsen, as you age, and for you to require more aggressive treatment options. Your body also gets used to medications, as time passes,...

The link below is to a compounding pharmacy in Atlanta, GA. I have no affiliation, association or experience with them. I am posting this for the excellent and accurate information it contains. I have used ketamine intranasal spray at 50, 100, and 150 mg/ml solutions. Around 200 mg/ml, it may not remain dissolved. I have found that nasal administration of ketamine can play an important role in continued recovery from severe treatment-resistant depression, without the great expense and inconvenience of IV infusions. pavilioncompounding.com/blog/ketamine-nose-spray-for-depression-and-pain-management ## Hi I was wondering if you were able to dissaccosiate with the nasal spray like you do with the infusions? I've received 5 ketamine infusions and was feeling like a new person. I was giv...

For 40+ years I have battled bipolar illness.. been through all meds, many ect, rTMS. and clearly dealing with trd... How can I find novel treatments.. spc.. sKetamine, or possibly GLYX13,, I am in Canada but will travel to get help.. Having a MI seems to in a less than important issue, the stigma and all.. but I don't care if it doesn't keep me from treatment.. ## Just get on the web and do searches for Ketamine and the other medication you wanted to try. There are clinics popping up all over because of the efficacy of Ketamine. Big pharma and Psychiatrists hate this because it takes you off their payroll money cash flow. Thankfully what is right is right and this works. Good luck. ## Where do you live? I was told by my psychiatrist that Dr. Roger McIntyre will be doing ketamin...

I am a 35 year old woman who has lived with anxiety and depression most of my life. I think it is both genetic (100% of my family members have some sort of mental illness or depression) and caused by life experiences (growing up with a bipolar father and borderline mother in an unstable home). Since the age of 15, I have been on and off almost every kind of anti-depressant and other assorted drugs. Some helped, but never enough. Nothing stopped me from hitting bottom on a regular basis. I've also been in and out of therapy: most of it was pretty useless. Four years ago, I went off all meds for pregnancy and breastfeeding for about a year and a half. I was ok-ish, but not great. I ended up having to stop breastfeeding so that I could go back on meds because things got so bad. Since t...

used for pain ## No. This is used mostly in veterinary practices and would most likely kill you... Ketamine has a high chance of respiratory failure and death ## I have used ketamine for rheumatoid arthritis many many time for joint pain. Don't tell people it will kill them, if you have no experience with the drug. Ketamine is an amazing drug and can help many people in quite a few ways. ## Ketamine is not amazing for everyone, since we are all different, and may react to it differently. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, sedation, weight changes, and mood changes. I have been dealing with treatment resistant depression and chronic pain for 5 years. I have researched Ketamine, infusions and nasal sprays, and it sounds like the answer to my prayers! My psych knows about it but doesnt prescribe it. I would love to do a clincal trial but they are all far away! i cant even find an infusion center here. Does anyone have experience with this? This thread is to discuss Ibogaine as a means to treat Depression and Pain Management, including, but not limited to, anxiety, IBS, joint pain, brain fog, shortness of breath, backpain, FMS, CFS, anhedonia, sleep problems, racing thoughts, loss of libido -- symptoms which are often associated with depression. I would like to start a discussion on the subject since there is a lack of information regarding Ibogaine as a viable treatment option for Depression. Most information on the web only deals with Addiction treatment. This is an off-shoot of the thread Ketamine for Depression. You can find more information regarding my past history with depression and avenues of treatment that I've pursued in that thread (for example see post # 392 over there). Ibogaine. I will go to the states to take ketamine treatment for depression. Ketamine is probably a great pill for depression, as recent research indicated. By the way, i am searching for friends who may have the same problem and same opinion--want ketamine--in states. I already tried to commit suicide 4 times. I entered in Japanese military forces for about 6 months, I've done Shikoku Henro meditation everyday 2-8 hours. i don't exercise everyday, due to these struggles. My mind is so much better. However, I feel my limit recently. final solution is ketamine, i recognized. Why I still have heavy problem, maybe I try to juggle too much heavy stress simultaneously. these stressors make me really sick. If you are interested in my article, be my friend please? You can post back on here. {edi...

Does anyone know what this is used for? It has too many half word abbreviations and it's not found anywhere I looked. ## They stand for Ketamine, Gabapentin, Lidocaine, Clonazepam, and Ibuprofen, this combination is most commonly specially created by a compounding pharmacy and used topically for pain relief. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including skin redness, irritation, dryness, and flaking. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Today I was prescribed a cream called Ketocam/lidopentox/dmso. Just wondering what all that means? Thanks.

So back in January my boyfriend had a 5 day Ketamine infusion for his chronic migraines. He also has an extensive history with Major depression and anxiety disorder. Ever since this treatment his depression has gotten progressively worse, to the point he is no longer at home and is being committed to a state psychiatric facility. The treatment caused him to start hallucinating and he ended up actually staying in the hospital for a month for a 5 day treatment and a rehab facility after that to learn how to walk again because he couldn't stand without falling once the treatment started. On top of that the hallucinations have yet to go away. Since he progressively got worse, he had a mental/behavioral health break in May and has been pretty much hospitalized since. At which point he ha...

Hello out there. I was just wondering if anyone out there has ingested a little of their topical pain compound to further help pain and if that is terribly horrible for you. I wear a fentanyl patch too 25mcgd and nothing ever seems to help. Any info on ingesting the topical compound would be great. Thanks! God bless you all ## Hello, Moni! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. But no, there is a reason this is a topical compound, it is not safe to ingest it in any amount. Yes, it can be terribly horrible for you and very dangerous. If your current medication regimen isn't handling your pain, you need to discuss the issue with your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi there! Thank you for your response. I was not quite sure about what to do. I had been ...

I know this is in the clinical trial phase to some degree but have been reading about people who have seen their doc for a ketamine infusion or nasal spray for treatment resistant Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). I guess what I don't understand is if the clinical trials are only to learn how ketamine rapidly produces positive effects on people like myself, who've been treated for many years with many drugs and never found anything to relieve my MDD. Does anyone know where I can find a doctor in my state, AZ? I saw a list in the Ketammine for Depression forums of doctors who use it for depression but I can't afford to drop in to UCLA Medical center for a shot at treatment. My MDD has lasted over 20 years with very short (6 week) remissions. The past 6 years I've had no re...

Hi, I have a couple chronic sports related injuries and a new issue in my neck causing some referred nerve pain into my head. I started cymbalta about 7 weeks ago, it has helped tremendously in my mood and depression, and maybe a little bit so far for my pain, so I am hesitant to stop it just yet. I recently had a 45 min Lidocaine/ketamine infusion, though my pain doc explained it was mostly lidocaine. He did not want to administer too much ketamine the first time. I have another scheduled in 5 weeks. It's been a day, and I certainly feel more uplifted, but it's difficult to say if the pain has improved just yet. Anyone has success with these infusions? If so, how far apart were your first few infusions? Or perhaps you didn't need more than 1?

Does anyone know where i can buy some ketamine from in india? ## I'm sorry, but this drug is constrained by the relevant federal laws and are unable to provide anyone with such information. Ketamine is very potent and is highly regulated in the U.S. Are there any other questions or comments? ## I think it is utterly ridiculous that a drug, in use since the 50's and widely used in a pediatric population presently, should be so restricted just because some people have used it to get high!! It has a long history of safety for use in human beings. looking for a center in Southern California that takes Medicare for treatment of bipolar and depression ## Hello, John! How are you? I'm sorry, but I have no way of knowing what insurance any given clinic or doctor accepts. Do you currently have a PCP that might be able to refer you to someone? If so, that might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. Have you tried calling Medicare to see if they have a listing of doctors in your area that accept it? Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area? What type of treatment are you seeking, in-patient or out-patient? ## Get enrolled at Kaiser Permanente and then make an appointment with the MD that gives infusions of Ketamine. Research this. Your psychiatrist will not want you to do this because it threatens his inc...
