I have an infection. I was wondering if (4) 500mg capsules can be taken at once. I remember being prescribed the same dosage of another antibiotic and was instructed to do all at once. It was a chalky metallic tasting pill cant remember the name of it. ## Hello, Curious Cat! How are you? What type of infection? Has it been confirmed by your doctor? A high dosage at once isn't actually harmful, but when it comes to this antibiotic, it is not going to effectively eradicate the infection. It needs to be taken at regular intervals, throughout the day, for the full dosing period. Side effects to this antibiotic may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Hi, I have been taking 500mg 4 times per day for 8 weeks for a potential osteomylitis. My concern is if my body is building a tolerance to the Keflex. The infection is still present, and although it has diminished somewhat has not gone away. ## It isn't that you really build a tolerance to an antibiotic, it's that the bacteria can develop antibiotic resistance. However, that shouldn't be a concern after just this short of a time period, that usually occurs with long-term use or repeated use of the same antibiotic. My doctor told me i have a staph infection from an ingrown hair by my rectum and it made my lymph node swell and have sore muscles and joints. can i take keflex 500mg more. Was told to take it 3 times a day. can i take it 4 or 5 times a day if the muscles and joint soreness worsens? ## Hello, Mike! How are you? i have an 11yr old that has strep and cannot take z pac how much keflex 500 mg can give ## Hello, Tammy! How is your child doing? What has the doctor advised? You really need a medical professional to make sure that it's strep and then to prescribe the proper antibiotic, if it is, because if it isn't actually an infection, or the proper amount of an antibiotic isn't used you run the risk of them developing antibiotic resistance bacteria.

shelf life of keflex ## Hi patty, From what I could gather, Keflex (Cephalexin) has a shelf life of 3 years. After this time frame, the medication may not be nearly as effective as it should be, and therefore may not be strong enough to eradicate certain types of infections at this point. If you do have expired antibiotics, it's probably a good idea to visit your doctor for a new script. This way you can at least be certain that it'll work the way it's supposed to and not cause drug resistant bacteria. Is Keflex from a veterinarian okay for human consumption? ## Hi Lilianna, Keflex is a medication that contains the active ingredient Cefalexin; which is used to treat a number of infections including: otitis media, streptococcal pharyngitis, bone and joint infections, pneumonia, cellulitis, and urinary tract infections. I am concerned about starting Keflex because I just finished taking Amoxicillin. Will this be ok? ## Did you find out if it was okay to start taking this? On the drug info page it says to let your doctor know if you are taking any other antibiotics while taking keflex. But technically if you already stopped taking the amoxicililn then you might be safe to take keflex. Sometimes you might be prescribed a different antibiotic so that the bacteria don't build a tolerance in your body to the original one you were on. But it is definitely best to triple check with your doctor about this. My friend took his dad's keflex to get rid of a sinus infection because he doesn't have health insurance. He has to do an employment drug test now. He is worried that it will show up and it wasn't prescribed to him personally. ## Keflex will not show up on an employment drug screen. It is an antibiotic. No employer will test for antibiotics on a drug screen. They are only looking for Illegal street drugs and prescription narcotics.

I have a bad abses tooth is keflex a good antibioti to take for it ## Although Keflex (Cephalexin) is commonly prescribed for tooth abscess, some patients believe that Clindamycin is a better option for these types of infections. In my opinion, it's best to stick to more natural options, such as Clove Essential Oil, to avoid many of the undesirable side effects that are associated with prescription drugs in general. It can vary, depending on the type of infection being treated and how severe it is. It can range from twice a day to 4 times a day for 10 to 14 days.

does it have any antobiatics in iT ## Sorry, the only thing I can find under Lupin is a pharmaceutical company, not a drug. Can you please double check the drug name? ## I have seen Keflex(Cephalexin)but had never seen it as a blue and white 250 mg capsule with Lupin written on the capsule .the drug should indicate on it what the Dr. ordered or substituted.

I have allergies, I take allergy shots. I have a prescription of Keflex 500mg. I was wondering if I can t;ake the Keflex for the sinus infection. ## It is an antibiotic, so it can be used for many types of infections, however, how do you know you have a sinus infection? Also, if the prescription is old, it will not be as effective, you need to see your doctor.

generic antibiotic? ## KEFLEX, IS that what you mean? this is an antibiotic used for many different types of infections. One use is for complex skin infections, upper Respiratory infections etc. Never take without a Dr order, as has cross sensitivity for some people who are allergic to pennicillin. If ordered by MD should take whole perscription, as symtoms may go away before you are really cured. ## I'm usually RX amoxicillin.
