Will taking cephalexin 500 4 times a day for 7 days show up as a positive in a drug test? Will be taking drug test 3 weeks after finishing meds ## Will the antibiotic reflex show a "false positive" drug screen? ## I recently took a drug test that was a dip stick put in my pee and I was taking keflex, ibuprofen, lamotragen, clonodine, resperidone and the test came back that I had benzodiazepines in it and none of my meds are benzodiazepines the only thing that would give a false reading would be the keflex I was pissed. So they didn't believe me until a couple days later when they sent it off to the lab when it came back negative for benzodiazepines and still they don't think that it was the keflex that caused it. Unbelievable!

Doing a lab for highschool about recombinant DNA, learning about taking the insulin gene from human DNA and inserting it into bacteria plasmids to mass-produce insulin. The plasmid had a gene for antibiotic resistance, there were three different types of antibiotics listed and the plasmid we were working with was resistant to one starting with a k, but I can't find it's name. ## Hello, Amanda! I am taking sulfamethoxazole and cephalexin for staph infection. I just recently took a urine test for my suboxone doctor and got a call to come in to speak with them about my urine. I have been clean for 8 months and have only been taking my suboxone. Is it possible that the antibiotics caused a false positive for something? I am very worried.

However, an antibiotic will not help with whatever issue has caused the infection, such as a cavity, impacted tooth, or etc. So, you will still need to see your dentist to have the problem corrected. I got my next to last bottom left molar pulled about a week ago after being blown off n jerked around by the emergancy room and the llow income clinic that takes my insurance they gave me a round of keflex antibiotics at emergancy room i finished them then dentist gave me amoxacillin to take i have one days pills left and the infections still there and very painful should i get checked for mrsa n on bactrium or is my pain normal the tooth was "extracted" (ripped from my face) about five days ago and the dentist said id feel better the next day but i don't?!?! ## Hello, Doug16125! After being released from the hospital I was given Bactrim DS for a really nasty UTI (800mg 2x day for 10 days) told too drink plenty water... Well I took the prescription completely and doing everything I was told to do... After 3 weeks I am sick again !!!! I am still hurting in my left side but now have a really bad cough to where I can't sleep from coughing up my lungs it feels like (extreme head ache, green phlem, wheezing, wanting to rip anyone's head off) and I have had a rash twice now! Started on my hands went away and now on my throat, chest, and shoulders!!! After a $14,000 hospital bill I can't pay with no insurance. I am now taking amoxicillin 500mgs twice a day for 7 days to clear up the infection in my chest!!!! Not sure what is going on if the rash is a normal...

I'm allergic to Keflex and Penicillin.. Can I take macrobid? ## Hello, James! How are you? Macrobid contains Nitrofurantoin, so it is a different antibiotic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. However, since you are allergic to the others, there is a risk of your also being allergic to the Macrobid. Keflex was prescribed for ear infection to be taken for 10 days. Took keflex for 8 days and realized that didn't finish the 10 day course. Forgot to take keflex in 2 days.what to do? ## Hello, Lala! How are you? Has the infection cleared up or are you still having symptoms? You should likely ask your prescriber how to proceed. They may want you to do another full course of antibiotics, or possibly just finish these. I suffered 4 puncture wounds to my middle finger from being bitten by a Pit Bull a couple days ago. Since the pit was going after my beagle puppy and I knew the pit would kill him, I slipped my hand under the pit bull's collar. He pulled me onto my back and bit my hand. Does the antibotic Keflex interfere with the results of a drug test? ## It shouldn't, though some meds will give a false positive, it is always best to tell the person or company ordering the testing, as well as the doctor or company who is taking the sample, everything you are taking, that way they know what to expect from the results. ## well I just tested positive for meth taking that and ibuprofen and both prescriptions paperwork say that may cause false test on some urine tests for the Keflex and some medical or lab tests can be affected on the ibuprofen 600mg.the Keflex is 500 mg.i didn't use meth so what else can it be?

Has anyone ever been prescribed Keflex propholactically for a period of 90 days (500 mg for 90 days)? In my case, it is being done due to a UTI with the Klebisiella Planticola bacterium. Got the infection 3 times and a 5-day course of 500 mg 3 x a day did not eliminate it. I feel very sick on this drug but we have to get rid of this infection. I have 60 days left and am praying to God, it will kill the bacteria. My doctor gave me keflex, I received the generic drug for it. When I was 5 or 6 I had a severe allergic reaction to penicillin...trouble breathing and hives and my parents had to take me to ER. I think I've used keflex before but I'm not sure. Just want to make sure it's ok. Should I take it and have a reaction, would I be proactive by having benedryl nearby? Thank you! ## Hello, Tiffany! Any time you experience chest pain, you should have it checked out, because there is a risk of being something serious. However, there is a chance that it has just caused you to produce more stomach acid than usual and the chest pain might be due to GERD. I was just diagnosed with folliculitis by my family doctor an he put me on keflex and my dermatologist has me putting flouocinolone acetonide on it. Is this normal? ## Hi George, From what I could gather, folliculitis is reported to be a common type of skin condition (usually caused by a bacterial or fungal infection) in which the hair follicles can become inflamed. So it makes sense to me why you were prescribed an antibiotic such as Keflex (cephalexin) for the infection as well as Fluocinolone acetonide, which is a topical corticosteroid mainly used for reducing skin inflammation and itching. This combination of meds would essentially be attacking the folliculitis from both angles, and in my opinion, seems like an appropriate course of action. I hope this helps!

I was prescribed Keflex 500 mg - 4 times per day. I meant to grab a pain pill (I'm recovering from an open dislocation) and accidentally took a second dose of the Keflex instead. Should I be concerned? ## Never mind. I skipped the dose the next am & was blessed to not have any side effects. :-) ## Hello, Amy! How are you? It was actually worse to skip your next dose than it was to have doubled up on the one. Doubling up isn't really dangerous, since this is just an antibiotic and might just cause you to experience more side effects, such as nausea, dizziness and diarrhea than usual.
