My rx is round with KC 10 stamped on it. Can I take one every other day so my stomach doesn't feel bad all the time?

Hello, Kelly! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having.

It's best to follow your doctor's prescribing instructions. Have you tried taking it with food, rather than on an empty stomach? That usually helps. As a matter of fact, when I was in the hospital and had to take it, they wouldn't give it to me without a meal or small snack.

The FDA classifies this as a supplement and please be careful not to exceed your doctor's dosing, either, as too much of it can be just as dangerous as not enough.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Thanks for your response. my blood test showed a potassium level of 3.5. Is that just low and can be treated with a healthy diet which includes 2300 mg of potassiam per day or is that too low to be solved with diet? The problem started when the doc had me start taking another hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg in afternoon and I unthinkingly did it without realizing it would deplete me. I have since stopped the afternoon pill and started a diet rich in potassium but healthy at 2,000 calories. I also stopped the Klor Con 10 as it was hurting my stomach. What are your thoughts?

That's at the lower limit, so not dangerously low. The general range for adults is 3.5 to 5.2

Another thing you can try, if your doctor approves, is cutting out more sodium. Elevated levels of it also tend to deplete potassium.
