Is Lunesta A Controlled Substance?

Ia Lunesta a controlled substance. Medco is only refilling it once when my doctor prescribed it for 12 months

The reason they are doing that has nothing to do with the drug class, it actually could be due to one of two reasons:

Your insurance and what they cover. Most insurance companies set up a certain list of drugs they will cover and how often and they will not allow refills on some items that they do not consider necessary for long-term use, you will need to see your doctor for a refill or have them phone one in whenever you need one. They also don't want to be laying out the money to cover regular refills every 30days on a drug that you might not be using that often or you might stop taking after awhile.

Another possible reason has to do with how your doctor prescribes it, if they prescribe as PRN which means take as needed, so you might not be using it on an exact dosage schedule, that can also cancel out refills.

This is what happened to me with an anti-nausea med I am on, my opiates for pain management sometimes make me ill, however the Meclizine I have for it is considered an AS NEEDED med, not something that I would be taking every day on a regular schedule, so no matter how she has tried to give me refills on it, the pharmacy always cancels it out.

Hi, just call your doctor, their is some mistake. You by law, the pharmacy has to fill if your doctor put refils on the bottle. They only way they can't I found out is if you wait too long to refill. Notice on the bottle how it says so many refils untill a certain date. I bet that's what it might be. Doctors don't put take as needed anymore, that's so 50's. If they did that, then everytime you went to refill, the pharmacy wouldn't be sure. They don't want to waste time. Let me know how your doing.
