Lyrica is NOT generic Gabapentin!!! Neurontin is the brand name of gabapentin and I'm not sure if there is a generic name for lyrica yet or not. Neurontin started on the market in the late 1980s as a psych. med and by the early 1990s the FDA realized it was helping certain kinds of nerve pain and now these days it is no longer prescribed for psych. issues just nerve pain and certain physical brain disorders. Lyrica was invented in 2003 and given to ppl for both physical and psychological disorders that causes nerve pain. My doc. switched me from gaba to lyrica when it was new but eventually had to switch me because because the lyrica did not help me. THEY ARE 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MEDICATIONS!! Look it up before you comment like you know something about a medication and btw the FDA is investigating gaba and considering putting it in a class with narcotics because ppl are over dosing on it and they recently are using it to help recovering alcoholics with withdrawal symptoms as well. So if u are prescribed gaba then soon you will be weaned off of it if you haven't been taking it for a long period of time and if you get to stay on it your doctor will be doing routine drug panels to make sure you are taking it.

Gabapentin can make you gain weight. It generally does not cause weight loss.

You need to know what you are talking about before you present such facts as truth. Yes, Gabapentin is a Schedule 5 controlled substance in the state of Kentucky, but that does NOT make it a narcotic, which is what the question asked. In fact, if you look at the list of schedule 5 controlled substances in Kentucky, you will find that narcotics are not on the list. Because Schedule 5 medications are generally Barbiturates and NOT narcotics. Please educate yourself before spreading false information.

I take both gabapentin and amlodipine every night with no problem.

No, you should not use Gabapentin if you take Suboxone. The two together can cause your nervous system to be suppressed (act like it's hardly there at all), and you can end up with serious respiratory (breathing) problems, end up in a coma, or wind up dead. If you are going to use the two medications together talk to your doctor first and make sure 100% that is what they want you to do. Make sure that your doctor monitor's you on a regular basis, and don't self treat with Gabapentin while on Suboxone under any circumstances.

Gabapentin is NOT a narcotic its officially classified as an anti-convulsant. It treats nerve pain and seizures, it won't treat regular everyday pain that is not caused by the nervous system. I would find a new doctor if your doctor doesn't even know the meaning of the word narcotic.

Yes, as I'm on 300mg Gabapentin and 10mg 2 times a day of the Amlodipine and I've not had any problems. I hope this has helped answer your question.

No you should not take suboxone and Gabapentin together unless your Doctor scripts it and monitors closely. It's a CNS depressant and has its own respiratory depression indication so that cause cause additional breathing problems if taken together.

Gabapentin is the generic form. LYRICA is the name brand, FYI.
You cannot go off it cold turkey. I went into severe withdrawal when I ran out and was never told.
CVS told me to come get (2) days to hod me over, but when I got there, they pretended like they had no idea what I was talking about, even though my husband was with me the whole time, so he was a witness.

Gabapentin/Neurontin is a different drug than Lyrica/Pregablin. They work much the same ways but their is notable differences in bio availability and strength. They both can have a significant withdrawal syndrome associated with it by patient accounts. The severity and duration of the withdrawal and need to taper slowly is typically denied by the medical profession at this time until further data is available. Gabapentin or Lyrica neither one is a narcotic they are that are anti-seizure medication classed as gabapentinoids. However, their may be an absorption issue depending on when the medication together. are taken that may or may not be a issue. Both are respiratory depresents and should be monitored when used with a opiate.

My doctor says they are. I'd suggest googling it!! It causes constipation in me and made me very depressed and overwhelmed although it helped the neuropathy and other pain, I will have to take as needed only!! Good luck and Blessings to you!!

There is no way possible to nod on any of that, Both are non narcotics. He must be on other drugs. That's like saying ibuprofen gets you high if you take 3 at a time. This is a serious forum, not for jokes please.
