Is Flurazepam Still Available?

Updated

I have been on Flurazepam for some time and am being told by my pharmacy that there is a manufacture problem and they don't know when it will be in. Feeling anxious as I know I would have side affects if I just stop it. Any one have information on this?

Unfortunately, some sources are listing it as having been discontinued. Thus, the best thing to do might be to consulted your doctor about trying an alternative medication.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Re: Flurazepam IS coming back on the market (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

Yes . If flutrazepam is the non generic name for Dalmane 15mg & Dalmane 30mg. They are still available . I get 1 a night 30mg Dalmane caps it’s definateky spelled in tray f....pam defo begins with F. Anyways yea Dalmane 30mg by MEDA. In Dublin Ireland so doubt they’re banned although I read tramadol and Xanax are banned in the UK that is definatley not the case in Ireland they’re actually a very common solution for anxiety relief (Xanax, alprazolam, gerax etc.) and tramadol for pain.

Yes. Dalmane is not banned. Not in Ireland anyway. A lot of people prescribed this. I also get it weekly. Heard a lot about Xanax tramadol etc banned in UK which is correct. But they are available in Ireland! Quite heavyily prescribed! Dalmane 30mg presvribed for insomnia. Tramadol prescribed for Pain. Xanax prescribed for anxiety. To answer the original question . Yes MEDA still make it. Dalmane is available and heavily prescribed , in Ireland, anyway.

There is no manufacture problem. It’s a case of simply finding a chemist that sticks them. They are not banned.

I can't understand why Mylan discontinued flurazepam! This drug was a life saver for me! It Got me off Alcohol. When they Gave Me Zopiclone I felt woeful the Next day! Same with Zolnods, the next day they affected my breathing, when I took a Dalmane, my side effects from the zolnods went in 25 minutes! Same with Zopiclone, they made me feel brutal the next Day! Dalmane helped me Get off Alcohol. Dalmane is safer than those other Benzodiazepines!!! Mylan are Evil for discontinuing Dalmane.!!! Being from Ireland, there's no chance of getting my favourite benzo!!! I'm deeply concerned!!! I have 68 dalmane at home. I'm thinking of the last dalmane!!! I'm Desperate.!!!

Re: Hippo (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

I have had a prescription for Dalmane more than 40 years. Effective and non-habit forming for me. I'm now dependent on Ativan nightly and DO NOT LIKE IT!

Good news Hippo; Viatris is showing Dalmane available in Ireland in early November, 2023. I can't get a prescription because I'm no an Irish citizen. Dalmane will be available again in the US late 2023 - early 2024. MAYBE! Good luck to you.

I hope so! Mylan are making up excuses. Other benzodiazepines are misused, like Xanax, Diazepam, temezepam. Yet mylan discontinued flurazepam! Murderers...

Re: Stretchdub92 (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

I've never heard of this but I'm in the US. It's a double edged sword. Some of us really need these to cope. Life is to much . I'm highly sensitive I stuffer from trauma and autistic. So I'm a mess and will go to any lengths sometime to get peace. That's why we here in America are dropping like flys from fentanyl. Life so painful u take that chance it's sad bc all we need is a little understanding

Re: Sleepless (# 8) Expand Referenced Message

I've never heard of this Dalmane ever and I've struggled with anxiety, being overly sensitive, drug seeking trying to find one sec of relief in my mind and heart. I was put on Klonopin and the Dr told me to never go off them or I could suffer from a mental break. Well what do I do...I don't want nothing controlling me or how I behave in any situation so I went off them and four months later I'm still full of something in me that's going to explode any moment. I don't trust myself anymore. Since my dad died, then my cousin and my best friend's husband drops dead at 39. Then a guy I have had an affair with for nine years secretly I hadn't heard from in two months, so I pick up my phone and got on his dad's FB page and what I saw I thought was a joke... he had passed away at 36 yrs old. He was a physical therapist and I didn't understand it, still don't, but at that moment I felt so guilty bc I told him a couple yrs prior I'm too old for you and to go find yourself someone that has less baggage and be happy and live a happy life. This was after he graduated and wanted me to move in with him. We continue to see each other. He got engaged and married but still wasn't happy and continued to see me and now I'm seeing his (what they put on paper) love of his life and family grieve over someone they didn't even know. I feel like something out there was going to make sure they took everything from me and it did. I have nothing or nobody left. My mom is dead, my friend overdosed. I'm even afraid to even be in love again. How do you cope with all those heartaches that linger every day that never go away?

Re: Hippo (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Hippo, I'm in the U.S. but have the same issue. Used Dalmane as needed more than 40 years before it was discontinued. Never got dependent. I'm now dependent/ addicted to Ativan nightly.

I see you are in Ireland. I have been following the shortage there and the U.S. According to the IPU, Dalame will be available later this month. They pushed it back (again) to June in the U.S. I am planning to fly to Ireland for this medicine if it does become available. It's an absolute life saver for me.
