In 1998 I Had A Winged Scapular After Surgery.

Updated

My neurologist at that time. He put me on MS contin. In 1998, I was out of my mind in pain. I stopped taking the ms contin. I didn't fill the last Rx for my pain. I called my neurologist and told him that I wasn't taking it anymore. He said I was a good girl. I thought that painful experience was over. I was Dx with ms in 2004. I'm in pain again. The worst pain I ever had was from the winged scapular. My new neurologist told me that he will never give me pain medicine because I took ms contin and I could have gotten addicted to it. My leg hurts a lot now. I have never been treated like trash like this guy is doing to me now. I have ms fatigue. He doesn't want to see my medical records from my previous neurologist. I don't know what this guy is thinking. I should be able to see my records. I don't know what is going on. I have not had ms medication since 11/2014. I am very tired. I don't want to have to ask him again if he is planning on giving me a disease modifying medication.

Hello, Janet! How are you? I'm sorry that you're so miserable.

To be quite honest, any doctor not looking at your medical records and not letting you see them seems a little odd. You are entitled to a copy, though they are allowed to charge you for making a copy for you.

Is it possible that your old doctor noted an addiction problem in your records?

Have you tried consulting a different neurologist?

The FDA classifies MS Contin as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

What treatment regimen is he offering?

Thank you for the reply. I met my first Neurologist in January of 1992. I have moved away from the area, otherwise I would still be seeing him. He sent me my records free of charge. I know that is not the usual. I have read my records.
Our Doctor /patient relationship was a very healthy and respectful one. He told me that I should be getting any meds. from my PCP. I am very tired now and I have to write again tomorrow.

I know what feels like. I've had open heart surgery when was 28 but was seeing neurologist since 19. I'm 32 now an my dr retired. original pain issue was due to really bad car accidents where I broke my jaw, smashed a disk, also the sciatica broke my patella but because I was born with a heart defect they wanted to replace my knee but I said all that stress on my body could be too dangerous, so to make it short I started by him giving me OxyContin Purdue old school 80's and hydrocodone ten's and Percocet tens, then switch back and forth till I started getting hives from I guess the brand of hydrocodone. So this went on, pain got horrible in lower back and knee. oh sorry my right hand had to be fixed with surgery also, its such long story. I mean I have horrible panic attacks. Getting to the point, originally my dr told me he could put me on methadone but I was so young and tried something else first. I remember this was before the OxyContin up roar. So he showed me what Purdue sent him. Shorten story, that along with benzodiazepines it helped out but was still too high of pain level and my leg ended up giving out. I went off back deck. God I gotta shorten this. I ended up being on 140mg methadone a day an three oxycodone 30mg immediate release. So 90 mgs. Then my dr retired. oh an he gave me 90 hydrocodone also but I rarely took them and didn't have anymore hives this time. Well that was two years ago. I've been on buprenorphine 8mgs for last two years. Actually right before saw him I was prescribed the buprenex 0.3 iv/im. Before I saw this dr I hated it but this time I guess I was so sick when I started I lost my tolerance and it worked wonders. It's more the stigma of the subutex. I was on way harder medicines before with no problems, now I always explain why I take this with it and that. I just want to be back on a pure strong agonist no antagonist in it. I know it doesn't have the naloxone. oh I left out the heart surgery. I got split from head to toe at 28 years old and they added fentanyl patch and Hydromorphone along with my usual pain meds. Sorry gotta stop. Any advice? My back's killing me. Gotta stop for now.
