While it is an effective antibiotic, the fact that you've been on it for quite awhile might mean that you've developed some antibiotic resistance, so it may not be effective at treating or preventing other infections.

Thus, if you've been exposed to Chlamydia, you may need to be treated with a different antibiotic to prevent complications.
