Identifying Xanax 2mg White Bar - Very Similar To Buspar 15

Updated

First time poster here. There was another post on this site about a scored bar-shaped pill that apparently is often mistaken for Xanax, but according to the responses it appears that it is actual Buspar.

Even if this is the correct pill identification, there isn’t any source references images or other supporting info. Some people will believe it just because the answer sounds authoritative. This could lead to a false sense of safety which could result in a harmful outcome. Others, like myself, require more proof. In other words, what is the source for your information? What if you're wrong and they really are Alprazolam and someone takes four bars and expires due to respiratory arrest?

You also must know that the reason people are trying to identify a drug that usually means that it didn't come in a prescription bottle labeled with the patient’s name, medication name, dosage, and a physical description of the medication itself. Pharmacies perform several checks and double-checks, done at each step of the custody chain from the factory, mass packaging, shipping and delivery down to the actual dispensing. The patient or caregiver is also require to double-check the bottle each and every time before administration. It's just more than reckless to "identify" a pill based on a fuzzy description, especially if your source is yet another uncorroborated website, blog, or message board.

I am a retired LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) and spent most of my career working in long-term care facilities where almost half of a work shift consisted of administering medications to the residents. The med cart contained an addition locked drawer for controlled substances like Vicodin and Benzos. It was my job to know not only what the meds were prescribed for, but what they looked like. If there was any question, I would use the PDR (Physicians Desk Reference) that contain actual size photos of the drugs. If I was still unsure, I would call the dispensing pharmacy. Now, because of my background, people call on me if they have a question about a medication.

So for those of you who have pills that somehow found their way out of their original containers, if you're going to use the internet to ID a med, use these message boards to point you in the right direction and get at least three corroborating sites to EXACTLY match the worded description and an image of both sides of the pill. But, if you really want to know what you have for sure and want to be safe, call a pharmacy. Make up a story if you have to, to explain why you have a pill out of its bottle. Deceiving pharmacists or doctors is not good practice, but is preferable to having your brain usable to tell your lungs to breathe that may happen during sleep, or if while awake will render you unconscious and then death if breathing is not restored within three minutes. This can happen without necessarily overdosing - it's common when combining two or more certain meds or types of meds. Some may have the effect of potentiating another, creating a condition almost exactly like an overdose, although technically, it isn't one.

I'm sorry as although your post is well written, it is not your "job" to look at a pill and identify it by the color/number/shape. Pills are pressed in the same shapes and there are only so many colors. Many people here obtain illegal medicine and the posters who provide answers here do not guarantee in anyway you will have the real deal. Your best bet is to use this site or others like it to look up the NDC#. We do appreciate your answers as well!
