Is It Safe To Take Cough Meds After Stopping Lisinopril?

Hi, my mom was placed on Lisinopril 10mg to lower her HBP. Unfortunately we noticed the dry cough. With the approval of the Doc., she was placed on Nifedipine 20mg to be taken two times daily. Sadly, its been two weeks since she stopped using Lisinopril but the cough is still there(it just subsided a little).She is also managing diabetes. Is it alright for her to use cough meds?

Sorry about your mothers cough.

The Nifedipine usually doesn't cause it as often, but it can cause a cough, as well, in some people that take it.

Has she consulted her doctor, again?

On a cough medication, I can't answer you, without knowing the specific ingredients in it, since some of them can elevate blood pressure and heart rate. She should check with her doctor about that, too.

hello yes the report I read that a doctor wrote recommended delsom (hope i spelled that right lol) until the cough goes away. Do a search on Lisinopril after effects, maybe you can find what I read. The doctor did a good job of explaining what causes the cough.
