I Need Help Finding Pain Management In Little Rock Ar. I Was Told Of New Laws Now I Have Relocated Back To Ar

Updated

I have relocated back to AR. My PCM put in a referral to see my old Pain Management Doctor. I waited to hear back from the Pain Management. While waiting I went through severe pain from a spinal tap. I was able to see a Neurologist after a blood patch. He sent me to a Pain Management Doctor. I explained I was waiting for a certain Pain Management Doctor who was familiar with my diagnosis. I went ahead and saw the neurologist pick for PM.
Long story short, I got the approval to go see my old PM Doctor. I left the Pain Management Doctor from the neurologist. I scheduled an appointment with my old PM that was treating me a few Years ago. The day before my appointment they said they couldn't see me bc I had already seen a PM in AR. I explained the situation, but apparently they said I broke their contract. I wasn't aware that I broke the contract when I came back to AR. Now I can't find any PM to help. I'm very severe in pain. I've tried Eastern Meds these 3 months I've Been here and not much relief. Because of a new system in AR I need help in finding a PM that is willing to help and can see me even though I have already seen one. Any idea on who may treat me?

Hello, Jane! How are you? I am very sorry about what happened.

I have to admit, however, that it isn't making sense, unless you received prescriptions from the other PM doctor, then still tried to go to the other. They'd consider that doctor shopping and none of them will want to see you, if that's what happened.

What about the one you already saw, can you return to them?

I apologize if I'm not understanding you correctly, if so, please feel free to clarify and I'll try to help.

Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?

I guess I am pretty cynical, but Jane, I have had two spinal tap procedures with one resulting in the need for a blood patch. While there is discomfort during both the spinal and the blood patch, there is no lingering pain once the procedure is completed. I assume that the pain you are experiencing is from another problem you are having?

From the way you have described your situation, it sounds very much like doctor shopping. If you attempt to go to multiple doctors to get duplicate scripts, it will raise a red flag and you won't be able to get in to see any doctors.

If I were you, I would attempt to return to the initial doc that you saw and liked. If they are reluctant to take you back as a patient, they should be able to tell you why and perhaps recommend a new doctor for you.

If you still have problems, can't you go to your primary care doc and ask for a referral to a pain mgmt. specialist?

I hope you are able to find a good doctor to take you on a patient. Just wanted to let you know that they may assume you are doctor shopping, and that if you do find a good doctor, you should stick with him.

Good luck to you.

Am I the only one that read the whole post? She said that she relocated. When one relocates, one gets a new doctor, typically.

If a dr treats you for chronic pain, they usually have you sing a contract. THe contract states a number of things that you agree to in order to receive treatment. If you break the contract, the dr can refuse to see/treat you. Chances are they looked you up in the Prescription Monitoring Program datacase and saw that you were being treated regularly for your pain. One of the things you agree to in the pain contract is that you won't receive pain meds from any other dr, this includes ER drs. Since you've been to the old pain dr before maybe you know someone in his office and you could talk to them and ask if there is a way for you to leave the dr you currently have the pain contract with and to start seeing the old pain dr again.
