My husband has lumbago (lower back pain) and I gets pretty bad where it keeps him up at night. He had Medicaid however he's switched to a few doctors and none are willing to give him anything that works for him for pain these days 2 years ago he was on a combination of Valium and norco but since that doctor was no longer available the next doctor would t prescribe them. And since then it has been really hard to get pain meds with all the crack downs on it. He takes naproxen and flex aril and the naproxen doesn't touch the pain Tylenol works sometimes when he's not feeling too bad and ibprophin is a joke. He has asked to stop flexaril when he takes it it upsets his stomach something terrible so today the doctor took him off of it and didn't replace it. He is interested in pain management and has asked for it but getting Medicaid doctors to do anything and getting referrals is like pulling teeth. He has no history of drug abuse and can submit a random drug panel but we can't find a doctor to do anything so I've come here for help. He needs a doctor ASAP he isn't getting sleep and in the line of work he is in ( home restoration) he frequently injures his back. There is a lot of lifting bending climbing and reaching and there are days he can't take the pain. Going to the e. r. Is only a temporary fix and he doesn't like to go that route. A lol info: he is only 29 has scoliosis and lumbago depression and anxiety but can deal with the others just fine with current meds just needs help with pain if anyone who knows a good doctor that can and will help him please let me know!! Thank you!!

If you have a Medicaid Health Plan, go to their website and there should be a list of drs that accept Medicaid and that health plan. If you don't have a Medicaid Health Plan, go to your state Medicaid website or call the Medicaid office in your area and ask for the drs that will accept Medicaid.
If you're changing drs when they tell you they won't prescribe certain meds, you may have been red flagged by Medicaid as a drug seeker. Even though, effective Jan 1, 2014, every state Medicaid has to pay for Valium, most Medicaid drs rarely prescribe it due to the high rate of abuse associated with it now.

I am 36 with 2 small children. I have Lupus, fibro and thyroid disease due to the lupus. I am in pain constantly. Always have fatigue, can barely move and hurt all over. Have tried Naproxen, ibuprofen, neurontin, plaque nil, steroids u name it. Nothing make me feel like a normal human being besides pain medication. I'm not a drug seeker just want the pain to go away. I live in Indianapolis. Anyone know of any doctors who aren't afraid to help me?

Re: Full of pain (# 6)

Have you heard of ldn (low dose naltrexone)? As long as you are not on opioids, you could be helped by this. It helps people that have autoimmune diseases. Many people go into remission from MS, Cancer, Lupus, etc. Good luck!
