I'm nauseated, dry mouth, headache, muscle ache, tired. I just started today but I feel like crap. I can't feel this bad and try to work. Like some of the other posts, I get anxiety when starting new meds due to history with bad side affects with other meds. Also can I take melatonin and be on this? I suffer from insomnia sometimes and need this to help me get to sleep. Even thought Belviq makes me feel tired I may still have issues with getting to sleep or staying asleep. Thanks for the informational discussion board.

Hello, Susan! How are you? I'm sorry that you're feeling so miserable.

Those are all normal side effects of Belviq, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience frequent urination, nightmares, flushing, swollen glands and sweating.

However, side effects are usually transient and go away, after a few weeks, once your body gets used to the medication. If they don't, or if they get worse, you should consult your doctor.

I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between it and Melatonin, but it's always best to double check with your doctor to be sure.

Is there anything else I can help with?

you should consider trying 5htp which also helps to build up your serotonin while your sleeping and can assist in accomplishing good restorative sleep. And you need that in order to restore and repair your body throughout the night. I was taking Valium at night prescribed by my Dr in order to sleep. But I wasn't sleeping through the night. So I started taking 5HTP an hour and a half after eating and 30 minutes before going to bed. And as I am doing my evening ritual to get ready for bed like wash my face, brush my teeth and/or take a shower, I take Ultra PM. WITHIN 15 minutes I'm ready to fall asleep and I sleep through the night, something I haven't done in 21 years. I also weened myself off the Valium completely. It's amazing how great the combination of those two work. And I'm not groggy or sleepy in the morning. I have fibromyalgia and Addison's disease so I am naturally always tired but I could never fall asleep and then when I finally did, stay asleep, until I started those two natural sleep aids. You should look them up. And my Dr said you can still continue to take your prescribed sleep meds while beginning these meds. Good luck.
