@Hollyhocks,

In all honesty, due to the nature and severity of your situation, I think it would be best to seek that type of advice in person from a qualified surgeon as well a second or third opinion from your primary care doctor and neurologist. In order to make a more informed decision about what should be "fixed" first, an in-person assessment is essential and should not be replaced by an online advice.

If I could suggest anything at all to help get your husband's health back, it would be to eat & juice plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables multiple times daily and then some. If he is truly dying of these conditions, eating right is probably one of the first things any good doctor should recommend.

I hope this helps!
