Hydromorphone Came Up As Oxycontin Ua

My UA at the my pain management Doctor's office came up positive for Oxycontin, but I am prescribed Hydromorphone 4mg x 3 & Hydrocodone 10/325mg x 4 - why is that?

Unless they use an actual certified one, which most don't due to the expense, then false alarms are actually very common. Most narcotics are distantly related and produce very similar metabolites in the body.

They should be able to send your sample out for more precise lab work that would eliminate that issue.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Hi Marie, I hope that this is not causing you too much of an issue. Since you said that you do have a prescription for the pain medications they should certainly factor that in to the results. What did they say?

Google for a list of common things that cause false positives. Also the urine tests have plenty of false positives. I’d ask for a retest or a blood test. Good luck
