Hydrochlorot tab Acc vs Hydrochlorothiazide cap Myl

My husband has been taking Hydrochlorothiazide cap Myl. He just got a refill and noticed it is Hydrochlorot tab Acc. Both are 12.5 mg. Are these the same medicine? ## Hi Joan - I am pretty sure that "Hydrochlorot" is just an abbreviation for the full name Hydrochlorothiazide. And based on the abbreviations that you shared, it sounds like the first version he took was a capsule from Mylan (NDC 0378-0810), and that his refill now contains the tablet from Accord (NDC 16729-182). Does the following image look like his current script? HCTZ 12.5 MG ORAL TABLET / ACCORD Color: Orange Imprint: H 1 If so, then my assumptions are correct. If NOT, is there any way that you can share the color and imprints on the new prescription? ## You are correct. His pills look like the picture. Thank ...

Hydrochlorothiazide And Triamterene By Sandoz Pharmaceuticals

My aunt has been taking the Sandoz Pharmaceutical, hydrochlorothiazide and triamterene for 13 yrs. The GG606, now the pharmacy is saying they can't get that one anymore that they have a new one by a different company that is the same. She has tried to take this, but it gives her a terrible heachache, where the other one didn't. Is there any pharmacy that still carries this medication by Sandoz Pharmaceutical? ## Unfortunately, there is a shortage of the Triamterene and Sandoz is one of the companies affected, so it isn't currently available anywhere. There can be fluctuations in the active ingredients of generic medications, this may be causing changes in her blood pressure, which could cause the headaches. Has she talked to her doctor about this, yet? She may require a dosa...

Would like an answer to my question

I have been taking hydrochlorothiazide for years and i want to know how long it will take to get out of the system. Its a simple question and i see other people have asked the same question and they answer everything but the time frame of how long or about how long it will take to get out of the system. ## is hydrochlorot 25mg and hydrochlorothiazide 25mg ## I also take this for HBP...why are you concerned about getting it out of your system? Before stopping it, consult your doctor for a replacement or your bp may skyrocket and you'll be putting your health in a compromising state. ## The medication will be completely out of your system between 25-60 hours. However, the effects from a single dose will wear off in about 12 hours. ## It is generally about 5 to 6 half lives for a medic...

Also I noticed that after when I don't take it and I have a day where I sat for a while that my socks along my calf leave a mark. Has anyone else experienced this same problem? BUT I found a solution. My Dr prescribed a NON medicated fix which is comforatble. what's the difference between hcl and hctz in Benazepril?

Please explain the difference between hcl and hctz in any blood pressure medicine. ## if i take benazepril hctz20.12.5 can i take benazepril hcl 20 mg ## Benazapril with HCTZ contains 2 active ingredients, Benazepril, and Hydrochlorothiazide. The other one you listed only contains Benazepril, the HCL just designates the specific chemical salt that it is derived from, which in this case is a Hydrochloride salt. Thus, you should take the one your doctor has instructed you to take. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

elevated heart rate from meds

After 1 dose of 25 mg hydrochlorothiazide I began experiencing an elevated heart rate (97-121 resting). After my 2nd dose I developed hives. I called the doctor's office on a Friday afternoon, spoke with a nurse, but no one called back. I stopped taking it 2 days ago. My heart rate continues to be in the 100-120 range. How long before this side effect wears off? ## Hello, Sandie! I am sorry about the issues you've experienced. Has there been any change? Do you still have hives? It could take awhile for such symptoms to go away, according to FDA reports. Those can be symptoms of an allergic reaction, which means you may need to try a different medication. Is this the only one you are currently taking?

Missed 21 doses of hydrochlorothiazide

A pharmacy error caused me to miss 21 doses of hydrochlorothiazide (25 mg once daily). Can I expect side effects now that I have started taking it again? ## Yes, it is possible that you might. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. With that bad of an error, I must ask if you've considered switching to a different pharmacy? That is just horrible. Are you on any other medications?

Hydrochlorothiazide Side Effects

I'm taking Hydrochlorothiazide for water retention due to a side effect from high estrogen levels in my birth control. I take 25 mg every morning, and haven't been able to sleep at all in the past three nights. I've looked it up online and haven't found anywhere saying that it causes loss of sleep. Is that a side effect of hydrochlorothiazide or is there just something else wrong with me? Because I haven't changed any other medications, or habits since then. It's the only thing I can think of that's causing this. ## Hi Hannah, There are actually quite a few side effects listed that, in my opinion, could indirectly result in loss of sleep/insomnia-related symptoms. Posted below is a list of side effects for you to check out: Hypokalemia, an occasional side eff...

Bad side effects of HCTZ after 8 years...

Hello! I started HCTZ around 02/98, didn't notice any problems until about 4-5 years ago when I could not longer stand at my stove for even 5 minutes to cook a meal, felt like my calves were going to burst because they were so tight. I have always drank plenty of water since my early 20's (I'm now 53), was never informed my sodium and potassium were to be monitored closely while on this drug, and never warned about staying out of the sun for any length of time. After being denied to stop taking this drug by my physician, I stopped it in 08/16 and couldn't believe what pain I was actually in while on that dreadful medication. As it stands, the past 4 years proved NOT to be helpful with BP as it was always stroke level for years (160-180 over 105-118 consistently) and as a...

Taking Hydrochlorothiazide all life

I'm prescribed to take this drug for all life on a daily basis (not related to hypertension). Does anybody takes it on a regular daily basis? Are there any severe side effects of long-term use? ## Hello, Wise Mike! How are you? This medication is classified as a diuretic, which is used to remove excess fluid from the body. Yes, some people do take it daily for life, due to high blood pressure, congestive heart failure or edema/fluid retention. The most common risk to long-term use is dehydration, if you don't take in enough fluid each day. There is also a slight risk of kidney damage. The FDA lists other common side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. Is there anything else I can help with?

expiration date of hctz

can you still use hctz 25mg. that expired 5/15? ## Hello, Blondie! How are you? Concerned about Hair Thinning

I have only been on HCTZ for 3 weeks because of high blood pressure readings, and I have seen a definite change in my hair. There is total lack of body, and even my husband has noticed the thinner quality of my hair. I am afraid to comb it for fear of seeing more hair on the comb, but at this stage it is more a total thinness. Is 3 weeks too short a time for this to happen? Previous to that I was on a different blood pressure med briefly, called Diltiazem, right after my foot/ankle surgery. But I don't see thinning of hair as being a side effect for that med. Was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem while on HCTZ and if so, was there anything that can be done to help. This is causing me a lot of stress. Haven't had this problem before and don't want this to get ...

Rashes, muscle cramps and high blood sugar

I went to my dermatologist and they took a sample from my arm for biopsy and it came back that I was having a reaction form it. I had been to my doctor just before that and was recalled because they said my blood sugar was high 7.8. They diagnosed me with type 2 diabetes. I went back to my doctor to have them give me a medication that did not contain HCTZ. I had researched it and saw one of the other side effects was high blood sugar. I spoke to my doctor about it and she told me to come back for blood work after I had been off it for a month. I went back and my blood sugar was only 5.2. I did not have diabetes. If you are tak...
