Started taking Hydrochlorothiazide awhile ago. Now I have a rash and have no idea why. Looking to see if this is the cause? ## How long have you been taking Hydrochlorothiazide? While a rash can be a side effect of many medications, normally, such side effects would appear withing the first month, or so, of taking a medication. If you've been on it longer than that, then the rash may not be related to the medication. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Hydrochlorothiazide as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, increased urination, and hypotension. Ref: Hydrochlorothiazide Information

Please help.I feel like I havew no energy at all. ## No, Metformin hasn't been known to cause elevated blood pressure, according to FDA reports, however, high blood pressure, and diabetes often do go hand in hand. What are the effects of this drug? Are there any side effects? ## half the 25 mg prescribed for HBP; need to know about side effects; cannot sleep; mouth sore..thanks ## Is this safe. for long term use. hydrochlorot 25mg. ## In regards to posts like this, it is very important that it always be stated that every medication carries the risk of causing side effects, even over the counter products. I know some doctors claim that they don't, but they are either uninformed or are trying to keep you from being afraid of taking a medication they feel you need. However, when something is prescribed for you, always just assume that it may cause side effects. You may be lucky and not experience any, but there's no way of knowing ahead of time. As to the Hydrochlorothiazide, it is a diureti...

Anyone experience this? Been on HCTZ for 7 or 8 years and now all of a sudden this burning redness is killing me? ## That is odd, but it is not impossible to suddenly have a reaction to something that you have been taking, before, without issue. Has anything else changed, recently? Are you on any other medications? Are you using any new skin care products? Are the current tablets from a different manufacturer? Have you informed your doctor of the problem? You may need medical attention, and/or to try a different medication. The typical side effects of Hydrochlorothiazide, according to FDA reports, usually include: nausea, dizziness, headache, dehydration, and increased urination.

I have COPD and I take Spireva. I also take Triamt/HCTZ 37.5-25 for mild high blood pressure. I have started having my hair fall out and to break off ... also I seemto be having a very fast heart rate wheb ever I stand or walk. Could one of the medications be causing this? Thanks for your help ... it is greatly appreciated! ## Most blood pressure medications are known to cause hair loss, in some people that take them, as a side effect, it has also been known to cause accelerated, and irregular heart beat, but that symptom could also be caused by the Spireva. Other side effects to the Triamterene and Hydrochlorthiazide may include nausea, headache, postural hypotension, and increased urination. Have you spoken to your doctor? You might do better on a different medication for your blood p...

Why aren't there triamt/hctz tabs available? As I cannot get my script filled by prescription solutions pharmacy? ## The manufacturers of this generic medication have reported a shortage of Triamterene to the FDA, however, a reason for the shortage was not provided. They originally estimated a full supply would return to the market by late last month, but this did not occur and no other information has been provided. In the meantime, the best advice I can give you is to speak to your doctor about using an alternative medication. A comparable one would be Aldactazide, which contains Spironolactone and Hydrochlorothiazide. Are there any other questions? ## Forget shortage. My local Walmart after saying "shortage" now says the mfg. is no longer making this drug. ## WHAT IS THE ...

My aunt has been taking the Sandoz Pharmaceutical, hydrochlorothiazide and triamterene for 13 yrs. The GG606, now the pharmacy is saying they can't get that one anymore that they have a new one by a different company that is the same. She has tried to take this, but it gives her a terrible heachache, where the other one didn't. Is there any pharmacy that still carries this medication by Sandoz Pharmaceutical? ## Unfortunately, there is a shortage of the Triamterene and Sandoz is one of the companies affected, so it isn't currently available anywhere. There can be fluctuations in the active ingredients of generic medications, this may be causing changes in her blood pressure, which could cause the headaches. Has she talked to her doctor about this, yet? She may require a dosa...

My husband has been taking Hydrochlorothiazide cap Myl. He just got a refill and noticed it is Hydrochlorot tab Acc. Both are 12.5 mg. Are these the same medicine? ## Hi Joan - I am pretty sure that "Hydrochlorot" is just an abbreviation for the full name Hydrochlorothiazide. And based on the abbreviations that you shared, it sounds like the first version he took was a capsule from Mylan (NDC 0378-0810), and that his refill now contains the tablet from Accord (NDC 16729-182). Does the following image look like his current script? HCTZ 12.5 MG ORAL TABLET / ACCORD Color: Orange Imprint: H 1 If so, then my assumptions are correct. If NOT, is there any way that you can share the color and imprints on the new prescription? ## You are correct. His pills look like the picture. Thank ...

greenpill it says one side says barr--the other side says sss 843 ## I started this medication Monday, I haven't shown any side effects other than urinating every 30 to 45 minutes until around 6:00pm everyday. ## what is this meicine TRIAM/HCTZ ## The tablet with the barr 555 643 marking contains 25mgs of Hydrochlorothiazide and 37.5mgs of Triamterene, it is most commonly used to treat conditions such as high blood pressure, edema and congestive heart failure, because they are both types of diuretics that remove excess fluid from the body. That explains the frequent urination side effect, others may include nausea, dizziness, headache and dehydration. You can learn more Triamterene details here and you can learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here. Are there any other comments or ...

Before stopping it, consult your doctor for a replacement or your bp may skyrocket and you'll be putting your health in a compromising state. ## The medication will be completely out of your system between 25-60 hours. BUT I found a solution. My Dr prescribed a NON medicated fix which is comforatble. Please explain the difference between hcl and hctz in any blood pressure medicine. ## if i take benazepril hctz20.12.5 can i take benazepril hcl 20 mg ## Benazapril with HCTZ contains 2 active ingredients, Benazepril, and Hydrochlorothiazide. The other one you listed only contains Benazepril, the HCL just designates the specific chemical salt that it is derived from, which in this case is a Hydrochloride salt. Thus, you should take the one your doctor has instructed you to take. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

After 1 dose of 25 mg hydrochlorothiazide I began experiencing an elevated heart rate (97-121 resting). After my 2nd dose I developed hives. I called the doctor's office on a Friday afternoon, spoke with a nurse, but no one called back. I stopped taking it 2 days ago. My heart rate continues to be in the 100-120 range. How long before this side effect wears off? ## Hello, Sandie! I am sorry about the issues you've experienced. Has there been any change? Do you still have hives? It could take awhile for such symptoms to go away, according to FDA reports. Those can be symptoms of an allergic reaction, which means you may need to try a different medication. Is this the only one you are currently taking?

A pharmacy error caused me to miss 21 doses of hydrochlorothiazide (25 mg once daily). Can I expect side effects now that I have started taking it again? ## Yes, it is possible that you might. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. With that bad of an error, I must ask if you've considered switching to a different pharmacy? That is just horrible. Are you on any other medications?

I'm taking Hydrochlorothiazide for water retention due to a side effect from high estrogen levels in my birth control. I take 25 mg every morning, and haven't been able to sleep at all in the past three nights. I've looked it up online and haven't found anywhere saying that it causes loss of sleep. Is that a side effect of hydrochlorothiazide or is there just something else wrong with me? Because I haven't changed any other medications, or habits since then. It's the only thing I can think of that's causing this. ## Hi Hannah, There are actually quite a few side effects listed that, in my opinion, could indirectly result in loss of sleep/insomnia-related symptoms. Posted below is a list of side effects for you to check out: Hypokalemia, an occasional side eff...

I have taken it for years for blood pressure and I was told to quit taking it because I have become photosensitive where I burn in the Sun in minutes. How long does it take to get it fully out of your system? ## It may take several weeks, to a month for it to fully process out and for things to return to normal. The FDA warns that you may also experience some withdrawal effects, such as fever, chills, elevated blood pressure, elevated heart rate, and fluid retention. Are you on any other medications, or is the only one you take? What are you usual blood pressure levels? Have you tried sun block?

Hello! I started HCTZ around 02/98, didn't notice any problems until about 4-5 years ago when I could not longer stand at my stove for even 5 minutes to cook a meal, felt like my calves were going to burst because they were so tight. I have always drank plenty of water since my early 20's (I'm now 53), was never informed my sodium and potassium were to be monitored closely while on this drug, and never warned about staying out of the sun for any length of time. After being denied to stop taking this drug by my physician, I stopped it in 08/16 and couldn't believe what pain I was actually in while on that dreadful medication. As it stands, the past 4 years proved NOT to be helpful with BP as it was always stroke level for years (160-180 over 105-118 consistently) and as a...
