Is hydralazine gluten free? ## Hydralazine is actually a generic medication, so it's manufactured by several different companies, which means that I can't check if the one you have is gluten free, without knowing who the manufacturer is of your tablets. Do you know who the manufacturer is? Or can you post back with the markings on them? ## I have the Camber brand. Is it gluten free? ## Hydralazine from Camber comes in 4 doses: 10 mg (NDC 31722-519), 25 mg (NDC 31722-520), 50 mg (NDC 31722-521), and 100 mg (NDC 31722-522). In each case, the inactive ingredients are listed as: - Anhydrous Lactose - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Sodium Starch Glycolate Type a Potato - Stearic Acid - Fd&c Yellow No. 6 They should technically be gluten-free but you might want to contact the manuf...

Presently I am taking Hydralazine, Carvedilol, and Hydroxychloroquine. Am I being over medicated and what are the side effects? ## HCQ May cause cardiac arrhythmia with this combo and the other two together increase risk of severe hypotension. ## Thanks, I get short of breath retaining fluids. I didn’t have a problem until I began taking Carvedilol. I have asked to be taken off but my primary physician won’t, ## Well it’s your body. If I listened to my doctor every time he says take this and that, I’d be a mess. I have RA and I eat a plant and fruit based diet, smoothies. Organic. Take vitamin C, D3 and give it to God. Now not everyone can do this. I’ve been offered HCQ and other meds but I feel that food cures the body. How did the Israelites live to be 15...

My PCP prescribed Hydralazine to treat my BP after taking amlodipine, metoprolol, and carvidelol - not working for me. I was hoping that this hydralazine will work for me, 10mg bid 2 only. Now in 15 days taking this med, I always have shortness of breath, feeling that my lungs are super congested. Barely breathe and all in the morning, my anxiety became so aggressive, feeling of constantly sad. But I was also being told that it is just a matter of time that my body will adjust or adapt this meds. But it's so hard waking up in the morning breathless, so when I stopped taking these meds, all bad symptoms are gone. Please help, I'm worried what if my BP will spike. I'm back to my alternative meds, boiled lemon grass I drink morning at night and I think that helps my blood press...

Just realized that I took Hydralazine 25mg three hours apart when it's supposed to be taken every eight hours. ## Took my 100 mg hydralazine at 3:30 and when I went to take my metformin and Lisinopril instead of grabbing Lisinopril took another hydralazine instead 6:30 , should I be concerned and should I take my Lisinopril or wait until bedtime when I usually take my other hydralazine ? ## Can I take 100 mg hydralazine 7 hours apart before the next dose. ## Taking an extra dose of Hydralazine within 3 hours may result in more lowering of your blood pressure than usual, and additional side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. If you feel extremely faint, or dizzy, you should consult a medical professional. Theoretically, you should be okay, but ther...

In three days I noticed my breathing improved - not sure why that is. I pee a lot too. A little woozy - trying to get used to the medication and adjust to the drop in blood pressure; it's been high for awhile. ## The increased urination is a normal side effect of this medication, as well as most other high blood pressure/cardiac medications, according to the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and hypotension. As to the improvement in breathing, where you suffering congestive heart failure? ## Thanks for writing. No I wasn't suffering from congestive heart failure according to the cardiac doctor and the results back from the Eco Cardiogram... all showed that my heart was strong. ## My husband has been taking Hydralazine 25mg for about a month and now he mostly remains in bed, has broke out on his stomach, sides, & back. He has been experiencing tiredness, forgetfulness, and dry mouth. It's to lower his blood pressure but the side effects are not worth it and I have been putting calamine lotion on the itching and he takes benadryl. This drug is not good for you at all. ## Bennie, how is he doing? Has informed his doctor about these issues? There are other medications he can try to lower his blood pressure. It took me about a year to find some that worked for me, without making me miserable. The FDA lists the rash as being a possible allergic reaction, which could get worse with time, so he might really need to try something else. Typical side effects inc...

My Dr. in the US has prescribed Hydralazine-only, without any combination of meds. In India where I have come from, Apresol tablets contain hydrochloride also. What does hydrochloride do? Can I take Apresol safely as an alternative to Hydralazine? If not, what Indian drug is equivalent to Hydralazine? ## The Hydrochloride is not actually an additional ingredient. It just designates the specific chemical salt the medication was derived from, according to NIH reports. Thus, it is really the same medication. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I take hydralazine, Htcz (hydrochlorothiazide), lisinopril and amlodipine. I have no energy what so ever when I try to work outside like in the garden. My blood pressure drops really low to where I almost black out. Any reason why this is happening? ## All of these medications can lower blood pressure, as well as treat certain cardiac conditions, according to FDA approved uses, and if you are working in the garden while it's warm, or hot out, that can also lower your blood pressure. Thus, it may be dropping too low during such activity. There is also a risk that you are dehydrated. Activity also lowers your blood pressure, so you may need a dosage adjustment. Have you spoken to your doctor about it? Where do you live and what have your recent temperatures been like? I know some days...

My muscle pain in legs, arms and shoulders has increased lately, and I realized it coincides with the increasing dosage of hydralazine. I get the same pain with statins, but this is worse. I have pinched nerves, but this seems to have come on suddenly with the meds. Could I be right? ## Yes, it can cause these symptoms as a side effect, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. How long have you been taking this dosage? Side effects are usually transient and will go away once your body gets used to the medication, but that could take about 4 to 5 weeks. If they don't improve, after that time period, you may need to try a different medication. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? ## I've been...

Is it possible to have side effects from hydralazine from one manufacturer and not from another? Within a couple of hours, I felt dizzy and nauseous after taking the same dose (100 mg), but different manufacturers of hydralazine! ## Yes, under the Hatch Waxman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredient. They also do not have to measure against each other, just the name brand. Thus, it is possible to receive another generic that is higher, or lower in the active ingredient than a different one you were taking, which could cause you to experience withdrawal symptoms, or new side effects. What are the markings on the new one that you've received? Can you please post back with these details? That would enable ...

Not a supporter of hydrazaline. I have had back surgery and have gone down hi) since then ## That is not a normal side effect of this medication as reported by the FDA, but there is no way to know how any given medication may affect any one that takes it. Were you on any other medications at the time? What types of symptoms are you experiencing, now? Has there been any change?
