Hello,
Based on my research, U.S. prescription medications are required to have a mandatory expiration date of 1 year from the date the prescription is filled. After a year is up, the medication should still be safe but it will start to lose its potency and can no longer be as effective. However, there are some medications that can become dangerous after they expire. That being said, it's best to not take any medication after its expiration date.
The medication might have a label that explains how/where it should be stored, but if not, I would ask the pharmacist. It's usually best to keep medications in a cool dark place.
I hope this info helps!
