Humira And Face Swelling

Updated

Hey has anyone had under eye and cheek swelling? I have had derma fillers placed in my tear troughs and cheeks over a year ago and my earlobes repaired and filled with derma filler 2 years ago. My GI Dr insists it’s the derma filler. I went back to the dermo who injected the fillers over a year ago and he said it’s not from the fillers, there is nothing left but injected the dissolving enzyme just to be sure. I have had 8 full under eye and cheeks flares in the last 3 months. It always comes on 3 days after my Humira dose and remains for 2 or 3 days before going away completely. Then slight swelling under each eye and even one ear between the bi-monthly dose. I have been on Humira for one year and 3 months. This all started right at the Humira 1 year mark. Also my vision is blurry and doubled in my left eye. Of course after my GI dr sent me to the eye dr I now need glasses but never have I needed eye correction (except over the counter reading). I am age 51, so maybe it’s just a coincidence or my age on that one. I am sure there must also be some residual of the fillers and my body is rejecting it by swelling up. It’s not a biofilm infection or granulomas thank god! I am worried. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I just emailed my GI dr asking if I can hold off on the Humira for a few months to see if the swelling stops.

I used to have fillers, Juvaderm and Restylyne. What type of fillers are you talking about! I stopped because I started to wonder what these chemicals really are. I would hold off on the Humira and see if things calm down.

My BFF had all the tests ie: colonoscopy, CT scans of his entire body before his Doctor started him on Humira. SIX months after injecting first on one side of his belly then the other. He went to Doctor because he just didn't feel like himself. Well we found out he'd gotten CANCER on both sides of his abdomen! On the left it was colon cancer and on the right it was liver cancer! They did the surgery, he wore a bag for a year and he lost half of his liver. A year later they put his colon back together. He never did get cancer back there. But it kept recurring in his liver, more surgery. Then spread to his lungs, lost 1/2 of one lung. Then it went to his brain and heart. Well the brain cancer was inoperable as it is in the heart. He lost his spleen and a kidney as well. as well. He barely had a liver or lungs when he died in Aug. 2016. He suffered with that crap for over 10 years. It was 2-3 years after he got cancer that the "Warnings" came out that these biologic drugs may cause some forms of cancer. He didn't know any of that malarkey. So was not able to make an informed decision!! Myself because of what happened to him... I'll NEVER entertain even a thought of taking Humira! I'll deal with the pain of my arthritis. Which is in my entire spine, legs and shoulders, arms, and hands. As sensitive as I am to different medications, I refuse to take that risk. I pray for people every day when I see those commercials or hear them. For whatever reason Tiffany, I'm praying for you, that God will hold you in his Loving hands and shield you from all of the bad. May you only have good responses to this medication. Peace Sister.

See your doctor and ask them to put you on something else they do have serious side effects on the long run. Celebrex works but in all medications is a dangerous side of side effects. Anything we take, that is the reality.

The TNF blockers can stop the immune system from fighting the cancer cells. I tried HUMIRA which didn't do anything to me but I was on ENBREL 50 weekly since 2012 and this works well, yes it does, but I wish they had some way to avoid relaxing the T cells but also block them too. Maybe they need more research on this issue. One popular medication is Remicade. Sometimes the cancer runs in families or blood type, but suppresses itself under the immune system which can cause issues and that’s why we have the immune system, to fight disorders. I also noticed that the body gets use to this after some time. Ask your doctor to put you on something else if that is troublesome. I wish you well.

Sounds like you need another doctor quick. i had horrible experiences with dermatologists. do not let them ping pong you around and mess with your mind. keep track of your symptoms. be careful what medicine and creams they give you It will confuse the base problem and make more problems. sounds serious it is not your age. check out bacterial infections. get a sound diagnose from a competant Dr..

They do many checks before they start someone on TNF blockers, like TB if he have how long your Bf was on the medication? Spinal spondylitis or HLAB27 gene AS all those required the TNF blockers etanacept is more popular there others, but everyone is different this is the issue because we are different cancer can be predisposed and also the blood type we have as enzymes, some get some no get everyone is different.
