How Long Does It Take Effect Sulfameth Trimethoprim 800 160 Tabs

Taken sulfameth trimethoprim 800/160 tabs started 3 days ago went to ER my hands & arms small bumps as if a insect bite had some sting. While there they gave me a shot of Bactrim DS 800/160. And taken the pill form. My question why am I still itching? And I take Rx on time

What did the ER doctor say caused the bumps and itching?

Bactrim is an antibiotic and it is commonly used to prevent or treat infections.

However, if the bumps, stinging and itching were caused by an allergic reaction to something, then this will not treat that.

In addition, it can cause a non-allergic skin rash as a side effect.

I just came from the Dr regarding the Sulfameth. .took it 3 days ago and i got all these tiny bumps all over me!! my skin got blotchy.. I asked pharmacist he said its nothing to worry about... Then finally i went back to my dr and he said to stop right away. 4 days from sat said .. I cud go into shock if i didnt stop... Now im freaked.... I had a pill this morning and now i want this stuff out of my system.. how do i do this?? is it possible to get it out?

I first started feeling itchy a day after taking it but thought it was just dry skin. I didn't notice any bumps until the 6th day into the medication so I discontinued and had planned to call the nurse the next morning. When I woke up I was covered from head to toe. These bumps looked like the measels and I called the nurse paniced and was told to immediately go to ER.
I ended up go to urgent care instead and was given a steriod shot and 2 other medications. The hives were gone in 2 days.
