Is it in a bottle dispensed from a pharmacy?

If so, then it should have an expiration date of one year from the date it was originally dispensed. The exposure to heat and light that occurs, when it is removed from the original factory sealed container allows degradation to start, so the medication starts to lose effectiveness over time.
