According to the FDA, “Levofloxacin is excreted largely as unchanged drug in the urine. The mean terminal plasma elimination half-life of levofloxacin ranges from approximately 6 to 8 hours following single or multiple doses of levofloxacin given orally or intravenously."

I was prescribed 10 tablets 500mg each for a broncial infection, 1 tablet daily. After taking 4 tablets, I experienced severe axiety attacks or panic attacks. I stopped and went back to my doctor who told me to finish them. After taking another for 2 days, ( 2 more), it started over again, only more severe than before. I stopped for good.

No Its a common side effect and it lets you know that the medicine is working. I have had the same response the last time I took this drug & I am cured from my illness. No worries.

I took it for 9 days, I didn't take the 10th pill, because I was having severe muscle pain in my arms and shoulders and my bones would crack in my shoulders. I couldn't lift my left arm without pretty severe pain. Also, my knees hurt. I stopped it a day and a half ago, feeling a bit better, I hope it hasn't caused damage!

I too was prescribed levaquin but for 20 days. I had to just go to a orthopedic dr they are afraid I am going to rupture my knee. I have pain in many joints and soreness as well as other problems. Never taking again.

It has been since the beginning of March since I took the Levaquin, and my left shoulder may have a tear and some other joints pop. I will see an orthopedic doc soon. Apparently there is mild muscle pain which is okay but more severe can cause damage.

I took levaquen for two weeks and my ankles swelled up so big i could hardly walk. after two weeks my Achilles tendon ruptured resulting in major surgery and I have not been able to walk on my right side since then. I will be in physical therapy for the next 3 months

Had very slight macular degeneration in one eye and after taking levofloxacin for only five days the degeneration increased rapidly squiggley lines etc. Can this progression be reversed or stopped at this point? Terrible drug don't know why Dr.s prescribe it when they don't seem to know the side effects can be devastating.

Knees and muscles and hips are big sign of allergy. I am tx for anaphaxis to Levaquin. Stop if anythings swells or abnormal pain

I was on levofloxacin 500 mg tablets one a day for the past 4 days. Very bad calf and knee pain, as well as in my upper arms. Dr is now starting me on amoxicillin 875 mg, 2 times a day to clear up my sinus infection. Is it safe to start another medicine 24 hours later after taking the levofloxacin?

I was on levofloxacin for 28 days. The entire time I was having severe anxiety attacks and panic attacks. I also am pretty sure I had similar reactions from clindamicin. The anxiety was so bad I could not function. It got so bad dr. Sent me to see mental health dept. I thought all along it was medication and said so. I am about 10 days from the last pill and this is the first day I have had relief from the anxiety. I am 66 yrs old and never felt that kind of anxiety before. I would like to hear if other people have had this problem so I could show dr. the posts.

Joe, this is not a published reaction BUT I've been in the medical field for 35 years and have seen this kind of reaction first hand in many older patients, and yes at 60 we are considered older. Most say antibiotics make them feel crazy in the head. Now that you are aware of it just use caution and maybe ask the docs if you could use half a dose at a time, may take longer for the infection to go away but it beats the side effects of those really strong high dose antibiotics. Hope this helps.

I've been taking Levofloxacin for 14 days. 750mg. I have had anxiety. And I feel such brain fog it's not even funny. I have the nerve pain in my hands. Since I am a hair stylist this has been really hard. I hope all the side effects go away soon.

I had the first bladder infection of my lifetime. I'm 79 yrs old. My doctor put me on Levofloxacin 500 mg twice/day. On the 3rd day my calves started to hurt where it was difficult to walk, then both shoulders were painful and popped. My knees also hurt. I finished my 7 day dose, but think the prescription was way too strong for me to be taking. Finished the med 2 days ago. My calves, shoulders and knees still hurt just as bad. I'm wondering if the tendons are torn.

I was on levofloxacin and metronizadole for 10 days for diverticulitis and just finished yesterday. I am 63 and I hated the Anxiety I felt. Doesn’t sound as bad as yours, but it was making me feel Strange and Scared and every day, I Never want to Ever take these again. I hope you start feeling much better.

I also experienced a shaking like symptom inside my body from taking levaquin for a month and some hair loss. I stopped taking it a month ago and feel much better. Th hair loss is still occurring but not as bad. When I brush my hair more than normal excess hair in brush but slowly getting better.
