Re: Bella (# 218) Expand Referenced Message

Bella, it’s time to stop! We all know you are in pain because of your nephew. Whether he was a good kid or used drugs is not the point here in this chat room. No one is saying anything bad about your situation but it’s time you stop badgering people who have legitimate pain issues & can't get the proper medical attention. It has nothing to do with your nephew. Most of the people in this room are not afforded the proper care because the government & insurance companies are making it so difficult. You had bashed me over a year ago & you are still feeling the pain of your nephew’s death. It’s time to let him go have some peace in your life.

Re: Mare (# 222) Expand Referenced Message

This has only a fraction to do with my nephew. Look at all the posts here or you just pick on me. For your information I too live in chronic pain and have every right to be here. So you can shove your response up you know where. Your nothing but a bully and so aren’t these desperate addicts. Look in the mirror before you say anything about anyone overdosing.
You will never hear from me again. I hope you all suffer.

Re: Mare (# 222) Expand Referenced Message

Shameful, if you lost a child to anything, how would you feel if someone told you to get over it. Also please remember that addiction is a disease and does not make a person bad but instead makes them do bad things! It would be helpful to offer a hand instead of a slap to Bella who is obviously very affected by the loss of her nephew! Yes, I am a chronic pain patient who has been put thru hell after being put thru a forced taper and then denied to me altogether! This was neither Bella's fault or that of her nephew! Please, can we not try and help one another even if our problems are different?

We are all bullies and addicts AND you hope we all suffer. You sound like a bully to me Bella. You sound like you need professional help, Bella. I think you should seek it. Why are you lashing out at us?

Re: Focked (# 225) Expand Referenced Message

Didn’t want to come back but my email prompts me and I just wanted to thank you for your kindness and understanding. I will say it was not my nephew but my son. I just cannot bring myself to say it because of the stigma as you all can see, and Mare says I attacked her but she said these kids are “junkies.” My son had everything a child could want an A student a closet addict when reached college. He was kind and wanted to join the Peace Corp. My son was not a junkie. He was an addict. A dentist gave him 3 refills on 3 wisdom teeth pulled. I went to yell at this dentist and he smelled of liquor. My child had never even had a sip of soda in his 25 years here on earth, he was in karate, baseball, bowling league, and he modeled for 6 years as a child. All his teachers from high school and college came to funeral. Girls were screaming. He was a popular kid and he believed in God. After he died in 2014 I ended up in the hospital in disbelief and lost my faith. I have it back ten fold as I know he is at peace. I am sorry I didn’t say it was my son but I just couldn’t after others were calling my nephew, and now you see why I could not say my son because I just knew people would attack these kids. All these names and blaming him in which it was not his fault. Long story short unless any of you lost a child, and saw what I had seen, don’t ever say that to me again. He was also epileptic in which played a part as well. I only say this now not because of pity or anyone’s apology, but none of us know any persons life including me. I was very hurt coming off here with these comments. So need not respond it is what it is. This is why I suffer from my RA and stenosis. I suffer in silence from not just mental but physical pain as well and I don’t go out. My life is done. I am a senior and I am quite ready to join him if I can. I am not afraid of being in pain. Although my primary gives me ridiculous 15 OXY per month I agree it’s ridiculous, but being dependent on more as I saw I just can’t. Thank you again I promise my last post but I saw this and you understood. God Bless. I never meant to hurt any of you I can’t help myself with this terrible grief I carry. And that is the most severe pain of all.

Re: Bella (# 227) Expand Referenced Message

I do hope that you come back at least to read the comment! I lost my son to a drunk driver many years ago! It was the most painful experience of my life!

I also have a friend lost her very good son to an overdose! They thought they had finally gotten him clean and when he was away at college, it happened! She is a very brave, she talked about it to anyone and everyone! Her motto is: if it saves just one person! Her husband in a beautiful article which was posted in the sun here in Florida! People need to understand that it can happen to anyone!

As pain patients we do not like the stigma that narcotics carry! Many will not admit to being on narcotics because of the stigma. No one likes to go to the pharmacy and be looked at in this manner! What I'm talking about is the J word! As pain patients, if we do not like this word why would we think about using it on someone else! Why would we use this word to someone who has lost a nephew or a son? We have to learn tolerance, empathy, and yes maybe love! We would never say that word did someone really love! If narcotics were problem we would talk about it as it is; addiction! Please don't tell me that this lady did something first because I will tell you that God tells us to turn the other cheek! She is a woman in pain and she will always be in pain until the day she dies! Unfortunately her worst pain is not going to be from OD or any other disease it will be from the loss of her dear son! Believe me I have lived it for far too long not to know what I am talking about!

Bella if you have read this please don't feel bad that you referred to your son as your nephew! I see all you were doing trying to protect yourself as much as you could! My prayers go with you .. a lifetime no matter how long that is, is a very long time!

Re: Focked (# 228) Expand Referenced Message

Yes my email prompted me again and I was afraid to look but I see you understand my pain more so after your own loss. I’m so sorry. My cousin also passed long ago from alcohol and he worked and played guitar... for some reason some not all blame a parent for the overdose death or any death associated with addiction. I share my story and my speech about grief and the stigma of addiction is next month to 25 couples who this has happened too. So I only hid it on this site because people were suffering. But then they got hateful and I had to blurt out my nephew because I could not bare the sting of anyone speaking bad about my child. I do speak at churches and schools because what the hell I'm gonna suffer anyway may as well try and help others. Addiction is a disease the AMA said so in 1962 I would not lie about that. I saw how it became one. My son was a smart handsome nerdy type of kid. I have heard other parents I meet at the cemetery as I never missed a day in 5 years, that their kid started with mostly pills on the street then went to Heroin. My son never did needles he was afraid of them go figure. Anyway sorry for the rant but The Fentanyl is coming from China over the Mexican border, as there was just a sudden bust from there. Chronic pain sufferers are having a major problem but it’s nothing to do with kids that are addicted. If your an adult with a definitive diagnosis that causes chronic pain, you should be able to get pain meds. If not it’s your doctors fault. They are afraid of malpractice, they don’t no who is telling the truth or not. I’ve heard it all. Doctors do not give out Heroin or Fentanyl. We have a Heroin crisis with needles. The opioid excuse is simply that... just today Johnson&Johnson has to pay out $575 million dollars for drug rehabs etc... I do hope people on here research instead of pointing their finger at a kid who is stuck yet cannot get out no matter how hard we tried. I would of died for him.

Re: Bella (# 230) Expand Referenced Message

I absolutely understand Bella! Sometimes we do things that later we wish we had not because we were trying to protect ourselves in the only way we know how! I am glad you were able to say this was your geeky, inteligent, smart loving son! You did what you did because others where chastising you and your son because of a disease he had! No one would ever think about doing that except when it comes addiction, both alcohol and drugs! I cannot tell you how sorry I am about that and I pray to God that we can remove the stigma that comes with these diseases !

I grew up in the sixties and remember the Vietnam War as being the tragedy of our times! But how could it be we have lost more people to overdose that's then all the lives that were lost in the Vietnam War?
Worse than that, this disease is showing no signs of slowing down!

Truly I wish I had an answer but I don't! The one thing that I do know is; today your mother your brother your child, your loved one could be alive and tomarrow you could get that shredded call telling you they are gone!

Be kind to everybody people it is the least that we can do!

Re: Focked (# 231) Expand Referenced Message

My ex husband is a Vietnam vet. I’m ten years younger. He’s also a retired firefighter. I do have another son and two grandchildren but I pretend when I see them all and hardly do. That person Mare imagine saying time to let go? Whether she knew it was my son or not just proves how much they do not know about addiction and death of a child. I am happy my President is building the wall, in fact, I’d like to help him. I’ve been in talks with DA, AG, etc...fact it came from there. If I were a millionaire I’d sue for allowing it to come over. That being said, thank you for your service Focked...because Freedom is never free. So to change the subject just yesterday I went to my Rheumatologist and he asked me why does your primary only give you 15 5 mg OXY? That’s half a script. I said I don’t know I guess I’ll take one when I get a flare. But I get a flare every day and can’t say this. So I asked what is it with doctors who don’t want to give out pain meds to legit pain patients? He said Big Pharma cracked down because of BAD DOCTORS who were giving them out to just about anyone FOR PROFIT. And now doctors are afraid of malpractice. And this is coming from an older very respected guy who was being honest to me a senior. He then added a 4% lidocaine patches... they literally don’t work or make me nauseous. I don’t have the answers that’s why they blow you off to pain clinics so they are out of the situation. I do feel bad for people myself included but I’m also a woman of great faith. Prayer helps. And for those who think well prayer didn’t help your son well, I believe he is relieved of his earthly sufferings (it took 5 years to think this way) and God does not take us. Death takes us but Christ rescues us from death. He was my best friend and wanted help, it’s a broken system where just 5 days u can check yourself out? SUBOXONE is another nightmare. Legal way of keeping you high for $$$ out of pocket. Anyway thank you. Sorry for the rant. Grief is just love that’s all bottled up with nowhere to go. Hope you feel better.

This makesme sick stop using the race card and what in Gods holy name does any of this racist. We are suffering badly and doctors are really being nasty to us. The same doctors that started us on our pain medications to begin with and our now treating us like we did it ourselfs. I have been abused badly by the pain management place as if I got the drugs myself. It is sick how they treat us then have no compassion for us. We are going to suffer for along time. We now our the bad guys. I hate the race card being used, remember it is about our pain and they need to feel our pain problems and will. We need to ask God to make them miserable Noone cares, black or white or in between. So stop the race card it is useless and wasting time. It makes me sick. It is about all of us who truly need pain medications in order to have any sort of life. Screw the pot crap and oils and every other natural crap they throw at us. I have spent thousands. Do you really care about the side effects when we can't even get out of bed. Sorry I have watched many many people live long lifes with their pain in check and at least have quality of life. My pain is killing my heart, my blood pressure is so bad. I have proven time and time again that when they releave my pain everything levels out, but know instead pump me full of a lot of other drugs having nothing to do with my pain and then they sit around trying to figure out why myblood pressure is so bad. I take so many medicines for this it is unreal and it never helps, I keep blacking out and breaking bones. Just Had major surgery on my spine they gave me one pain pill every six ours. I will never have surgery again. I will just let my horrible blood pressure as they say, your are either going to have a major stroke or heart attack. They really have taken my life away, I now at 62 have a DNR on me because what is the use. Yes it is sad. So stop talking about race it makes me sick. When we start to die we are going to have horrible deaths and a lot of suffering. Lets drop the race card and remember we are all in it together. ONLY IF YOU ARE RICH DO YOU GET GOOD CARE, WE HAVE NO HELP UNLESS WE FIGHT THE HELL OUT OF THEM

Re: Bella (# 232) Expand Referenced Message

I'm glad to see that you have felt comfortable enough to come back a few times now. I have seen nothing more of the people that were so hurtful to you and I am so glad of that! I enjoy chatting with you! I don't think I would be here today if it were not for faith and the love of Jesus. I live in South Florida and I have been praying he keeps everyone including me safe from this horrible storm that can't seem to make up its mind where it wants to go and is moving at a snail's pace. Besides it's 150 mile an hour winds, it could dump up to two feet of rain all up and down the east coast of Florida and could very likely impact other states as well! I have registered with the department health so if there is an evacuation they will send me somewhere where I will at least have a cot. I could not imagine having to sleep on the floor I remember reading that. we're also a chronic pain patients. I also do not understand why a doctor would givee you only 15 (5 mg. pills) like you said that allows you only one tablet every other day! It seems like you are right everyone looks at us like we did something wrong when in fact the medical profession caused these problems! It seems that quite a few where using opioids as a profitable business instead of being vigilant with who they prescribed to! As you know, the tides have now turned and we are lucky if we can find someone to prescribe what we really need! I continue to pray that things get better for the sake of everyone who is suffering from pain including myself! I am afraid it could take a very long time however if ever! Well I better go so I can grab a few things from the store in case I am evacuated I will have a few snacks to go with me!
I hope to talk to you again! Sincerely Patty.

Re: Focked (# 234) Expand Referenced Message

I thought you were a man. Because you said Vietnam war but stupid me reread it. Glad you’re a woman and I just wanted to tell you be careful hoping the storm goes past you. I lived in Florida many years ago. Not for me now but it’s great. There were many pain doctors in Florida, not legitimate ones who were arrested over the years, seems Florida had a lot... this is why I feel sorry for the addicted. The doctors put profit above you and that’s that. I asked my primary for at least 30 taken once in morning each day then she says “see you want to go up.” I couldn’t believe it. You know I never did drugs until I was diagnosed with RA and other ailments. And I am in my 60’s. You’d think these doctors would understand it’s no joke to live in pain. She thinks I had pain from losing my child until the MRI and bloodwork showed this. Just awful how they don’t seem to take you serious. Wonder what they do when they are in pain? I guess I deal with it because of the loss. I could care less if I woke up tomorrow. It’s just grief. Anyway writing this in parking lot just came from Church which comforts me. Realizing it’s getting harder to kneel each time.. just wanted to come on and say hope you’re okay and the State is okay as well they just said category 5.

Re: Vintage Lady (# 175) Expand Referenced Message

Hello, vintage lady, I'm not sure what you're asking me...I'm not sure why you can't get your pain medication?...I have to wonder though? Could it be the state you live in? I'm in southwest Florida, my son visits a pain management doctor. The same one I used to visit years ago, he doesn't prescribe like he used to but he still helps out with pain..three lortab 10s a day, or three percocet 10s, when I had a visit with him last June he started me out on 3 percocet 10s, he said quietly that's all I can give, then the next visit with him I mentioned I had to take a 4th one a few days..so he just increased the next script to that, the visits are every 3 months and he does do a u/a around every 6 months or so, I truly believe every state must be different, idk...but these doctors went to school and paid a lot of money for school, only to end up being afraid to treat patients the way they were told to....I read so many sad stories about people in so much pain...I'm hopeful for change. But if it happens...it's a long way off...I also wonder what some big shots with money, does there family members get treatment? It would be very interesting to know.

Re: Bella (# 235) Expand Referenced Message

Hi bella, I'm just stopping by to say hello! I enjoy reading your comments. I feel bad about the way pain management doctor, pharmacy's treat patients. I no longer need to take pharmaceutical medicine, I have been trying natural supplements like magnesium and zinc, turmeric, it helps more than you'd think. However my dad is 83 he doesn't have to take any kind of medication. I'm hopeful to follow his path, I layed in bed last night tossing and turning about this supposedly opioid crisis, if there really is one..for everyone who has a great deal of pain, I can't imagine someone getting extremely hurt?, has me wondering what would happen if someone fell a broke bones?, so I'm just babbling about whatever, I just wanted to say HI, BELLA

Re: Charlene (# 237) Expand Referenced Message

Thank you Charlene for this hello and my email prompting me to return. I must say this site is truly an excellent guide to speak and let us say what we like and how we feel. I may have gone off topic I know this. But I’m thankful for responses in understanding my reactions to certain comments made here particularly about pointing fingers at our youth and saying they are “junkies.” Just another road for me to get rid of the stigma. I do speak on addiction, grief, and loss of a child thrown in with faith etc..I can only do this after 5 years. And I agree with what you say I guess I don’t understand the 20-30 years plus of being on pain meds. I mean opioids truly do cause more pain and that is how they addict you. Also I have been to other specialists about my issues with pain and one doctor said “why does your primary only give you half a script of 5 mg Oxycodone of 15 when it clearly states on the bottle take one every morning?” Haha I just agree with him because god forbid I ask for the slightest increase and this is what I understand from these poor people who are in excruciating pain every day. It’s the doctors. And when I went to pain management they wanted me on OxyContin 24 release pills of 120. All I could think of my son and of course I declined and left. They want you to be slaves so we can have websites such as these. The Sackler family who makes OxyContin just filed bankruptcy so they can slap in the face of people they killed, not to pay back the families who have numerous lawsuits against these scum sucking wealthy people. All in all I only take one when I get a severe flare otherwise like you it’s CBD cream for my painful fingers and back. Along with Aleve which will get me before the pain meds. Just to let others know I do believe in the power of prayer and attend Mass frequently. Even the Latin Mass you forget about everything when you pray. That’s just for me and I pray all here and even the ones who didn’t like me I hope they all get cured and have no or minimal pain and get their medications. Although I said I hope you all suffer, I apologize as that was my reaction to saying things about my child when I knew what really happened. None here didn’t. But peace to you all.

I’m afraid I won’t be able to function without my medication. It seems no one understands or cares about people who are truly suffering, day in and day out. Once th egg y allow people to get awarded big settlements from big pharmaceutical companies, they halt production of the meds . Of course most Doctors have stopped writing prescriptions for these meds already. I’m afraid if my current Dr . retires I’ll be screwed . I’m raising my grandchildren so I need these meds or I would most likely be unable to walk at all. This world is crazy when it comes to this.

Bottom line is this now for us legitimate CPPs... Many of us have been tapered. The daily dose we do get if fortunate enough to have a compassionate Doctor, the medicine itself Percocet & all its generic formulations have been purposely altered for strength & added fillers to detour use & effectiveness as if we are taking a sugar pill. You can notice the difference, i.e. withdrawal symptoms after dose, extreme fatigue, zero motivation, no lift of mood/positivity (dopamine inhibitor), abdominal issues!

So weird how after long term use seemingly overnight these effects began once the "opiod crisis" was defined by Gov’t! (Circa 2016 to date...)
It's disgraceful! We are not stupid. They've tricked us all. This has been done secretly without any patient test trials... Think about it. We must stick together & fight back for our lives!

GODSPEED dear ones!
