Have Lots Of Pain

Hi Dr. I'm 49 years of age and I have cronic Osteoarthritis on both knees, both wrists and hands, lower back and left shoulder. I've been taking meds for 10 years (give or take). I used to live in San Diego and after trying all kinds of medication the Dr. ended giving me morphine ER 30mg and Norco 10/325. I was taking 3 to 4 morphines daily and 6 to 8 Norcos daily. With time he pump me up to 60mg instead of 30mg of the morphine. Since I couldn't work anymore, I lost everything and had to move to L.A. county where I have relatives. I got a Dr. there but he said I was taking too much medication so he took away the Norcos and gave me the morphine but 30mg and only 3 daily. After a couple of months I told him that they weren't working too well so he gave me 60mg 3 daily. After a few months, I told him that the morphines weren't working too well by themselves so he recommended me to take 100mg of morphine but I said no. Cause in the long run I'll have more tolerance and then what?! So I told him to put me back to 30mg but instead of 3 to take 4 daily and to put me back on Norcos too. Well he did gave me the 30mg morphine but 3 daily but no Norcos. Now I've been having trouble sleeping, moving and have lots of anxiety on my legs. Can you please suggest me anything? I would really appreciate it.

I feel for ya Chikilin,

I too am in constant pain due to Neuropathy/nerve damage and minor arthritis. I am on 10/325 at 5 per day and thats not enough!! We as drug users (we are in one way or another) get immune so they tend to not work after a while and before you know it you run out of pills before you get your next RX!! I'm on 150 per month!! and was taking 200, but got cut down due to the f****n Gov't.

My question is: HOW DID YOU GET ON MORPHINE AND NORCO? If I mentioned that to my doc, he'd boot me for sure. He said in the first visit, I will RX you 150 per month and that's it, you ask for anymore I cant see you again! how is that for a pain doctor. I would love to try the Morphine but am scared if I work (self employed) I may screw up a job, not to mention get caught driving with the drugs in my system, thats a Felony and means prison time! I cant work without the meds either and it sucks for sure so I know how you feel. I also live in the L.A. area, Glendora, 91740 to be exact.

I am so sorry I cant suggest anything because everything I have tried is useless. OTC drugs are worthless after you take pain meds, and I also tried herbal, GNC, TV ripoffs, etc., but looks like I am stuck and in the same boat!! IT SUCKS GETTING OLD (56 here, male) and being hooked on these pills. I would love to kick it, but how would I work or even live with the pain? Hi Tom thanks for the reply. They gave me morphine cause I said that the biceps weren't helping much. That I had to take at least 12 to 14 a day so they gave me morphine but took away the biceps, for awhile. Like I used to get up very early to work I told my doctor that the morphine took too long to do their job since they are WRong (Extended Release ) and I needed to get up early for work so I needed something faster for the pain. So he gave me back the biceps just alittle less. Don't get me wrong, I had a hard time trying to get them. I suggest to try to get a doctor that is old and an American cause foreign doctors are hard or try a woman like I had. I can't say much through here but good luck buddy. Like I told my doctor after he told me that I will have pain for the rest of my days and I will take meds as well "that I rather have a short and happy life than having a long and miserable one so I hope you prescribed me something goood". LOL

Hi Again Chikilin, I feel the same way about a short and happy life, I can't stand living like this, especially when I am also addicted to these pain meds!! I am a slave to them due to the fact I cant work without them either (physical labor, self employed). I hope all goes well for you in the future, good luck with everything, Tom in Ca.
