Harvoni Treatment

Updated

Hello, I am Hans (71 years). I live in Germany. I've been taking Harvoni for 6 weeks. I am happy that I have no problems and no side effects. I started with a viral load of 1.1 million. The fist blood test after 14 days had a reduction to 94 (!). In 2 days I shall see my doc again. I'm curious about the new result (I hope ZERO). Good luck to all.

10 more days to go with the harvoni.. Did have some side effects: Confusion, anxiety, insomnia and some hair loss... I'll be glad when it's over and hope I can get back to normal. Undetected at 4 weeks.

I did really well on Harvoni tx too, Hans. I had to be on it for 24-wks., as I was at 4th stage liver failure. I've been virus-free for 2 years. My side effects on Harvoni, were mostly fatigue, got 3 or 4 headaches total, sometimes got a bit of a gag reflex after eating some foods. No real nausea. Insomnia.....kind of, but I'm a night person, so maybe not. Good luck with your treatment.

I started taking Harvoni while fasting today. How long after taking the med can you eat? I'm new here and would appreciate any advice as I forgot to ask the pharmacist.

Still having problems with fluid retention in legs, and weight gain (70 lbs.! in 3 yrs.). Doctors are just scratching their heads, having me take more diuretics and telling me to eat less, exercise more, and watch my salt intake. Snore..... This has been going on since I cleared the virus about 3 yrs. ago. Nothing on the Harvoni website regarding this issue. They don't respond to my email communications. Other than that, I feel pretty good.

I have also been on Harvoni close to 6 weeks with no side effects. Had my first blood test and everything is normal but they don’t the load until after treatment is over around 3 months after.

As I remember, I took it with breakfast. It's been three years. Memory is a little foggy in the detail area during that time. Hope your treatment is going well, and your results end in a cure for you.

I’m now going on my 8th week of treatment. My first blood test after one month was normal. Some very mild headaches in the beginning and some fatigue but not bad. I’m now noticing some hair loss. No weight gain but some loss of appetite and have about 8 lbs today to date. At the end of next week I will have another blood draw and 4 more weeks of treatment. They don’t test for viral load until 3 months after treatment completed. I’m praying for healing.

I am 57 yrs and am gonna start Harvoni. I'm so afraid!! Afraid I can't tolerate it. Afraid of something new I guess. I am taking 1/8th Soboxen daily and I can't seem to shake that crap off. Please tell it will be okay. Please tell I can do this. I feel so alone!!

Hang in there. Harvoni was for me, fairly symptom free. A couple of headaches over the 26 wk. tx. (because I failed the 12-wk tx with Olysio/Solvaldi), very grumpy, that was the worst symptom. Got tired of saying, "I'm sorry," to my wonderful, patient, and loving husband. When I was told I was "cured" a while after tx, and now I'm about 3 yrs. HCV free, I was amazed. I'd carried the virus for 40 yrs. So my liver was in 4th stage failure. Very sick. Now, I have a few liver related issues that are minor, and my liver is getting healthier, slowly. So don't be afraid of Harvoni. For most of us, it wasn't that bad. Good luck with your treatment. Peace

I took my Harvoni with breakfast. Didn't have any nausea issues when I did this. Fatigue, just rest more, it helps. Drink water. Staying hydrated helps. I'm rooting for you! Don't give up.

Re: Blondie (# 10) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Blondie my name is Doug. You need to be cautious about how harvoni. Read the articles in this form and form your own opinion. Consider the stage of your hepatitis and is it life threatening at this moment. Some people can tolerate it, but most people have multiple side effects that last their lifetime. As far as the subs are concerned, I take 1/2 and it helps with the side effects from the harvoni. I was taking one eight and when I stoped I had the heebie-jeebies leg shakes for a while. I did get off of it, but because of pain issues I had to go back on. Chin up, and do your research.

The best of luck to you, Hans! I've been clean of the virus for 3-yrs. I didn't have really bad side-effects. Being grumpy and tired, were the worst of them.

I’m happy for you. I did 12 weeks of Harvoni, after completing I did first blood test after 3 months, completely clear of disease. Did a second blood test 3 months later. Cured! Hope you are also clear.

Re: Blondie (# 10) Expand Referenced Message

I started Harvoni April 15th. I have to say the first few days I had some side effects. Started with a little nausea and went into heartburn really bad. Talked to the pharmacist and she advised Pepsid at exact time as H. Took good care of that. I get a sm h/a prob everyday but Ibuprofen helps. Took my 1st bl tst at 4wks. HCV undetected. I'm on my 2nd month and feel crappy everyday but I have a couple health issues. Not bad, just enough to make me feel s***ty. 1 more month to go and I will be happy to say it's gone. It's been emotional for me and my boys. 29 & 36. More when it's over and I take my med at 7 every evening thinking I could sleep through the worst.
