Halcion Update From The Usa 2013

Excellent tablet the 0.25mg of Pfizer Halcion....for me, with my
sedative history...I need to take 4x 0.25mg of the Halcion, to give
me the sedating effects, I originally felt on Sanofi Ambien 10mg, a/k/a
Sanofi Stillnox in a white 10 mg elongated caplet.

Halcion tablets, I get are light blue oval very small tablets, with a embossment on the front as Upjohn 17 on the front side, and a solid score line on the rear side. My Halcion, I get come in the "unit dose pkg" (a blister pack sealed in aluminum) with the following embossments, on the bright shiny blister pack, "Pfizer" Halcion 0.25mg. Triazolam. I also have a expiration date of 09/2016 on the end of the blister pack + a Lot number consisting of 8 alpha number letters, starting with a alpha letter, then, 6 numbers, then, ending in another alphabet number. My residency is in the USA, but I travel frequently, domestic and internationally, and, I obtain my Halcion, always, from outside the USA, in a non-EU country, where Pfizer Halcion is a Schedule V. In the USA, Halcion is a Schedule IV. I find USA
physicians, including the psychiatric community, are not necessarily favorable to prescribing Halcion, except, as a last resort IMHO due to the long ago negative publicity, Upjohn received, (now a part of Pfizer) in the late 1980's, that bordered sensationalism, as I am old enough to remember former President Bush, Sr. and the defrocked minister, Rev Jimmy Baker, if I remember correctly, complained, about some memory erasing effects of the triazolam. Once the top selling sedative in the USA, such as the year 1988, holding down sales position Number 17, while the sister daytime anti-panic anti-anxiety medication by Upjohn, "Xanax" held position number 3, in the top 200 selling ethical pharmaceuticals in the USA.

Source: Pharmaceutical Data Services, Inc. Scottsdale, AZ, and, "the Pill Book, page 950, 4th revised edition, Bantam Books, when "Halcion" in 1988 was still offered in the .5 mg tablets. The larger tablets were eliminated, due to pressure, from the USA press, and, a threat from the USA DEA to reschedule the lightweight sedative, into a tighter USA controlled substance, schedule, such as a C-III, or, worse yet even a Schedule II, if not a Schedule I. I have seen this happen in the USA before, with another hypnotic, going from a Schedule VI to a Schedule II, and another from a Schedule III, (with refills) to a Schedule II (no refills). also, from, not even being a controlled substance, sodium oxbate, to a Schedule I, then, changed, years later, to a Schedule III, the latter is marketed as Xyrem, only prescribed by a special group of Psychiatrists, or, Sleep Disorder trained M.D's, and is very, tightly controlled, and very, very expensive, compared to the 1980's when it was sold over the counter. Just my 2 cents worth, of a 60 something, once married into the medical field, and once a credit services consultant, who called on big pharmaceutical firms, by a Fortune 500 company in the 1970's and the 1980's.
