Help! Lost Methadone Take Home Bottle!!

I've been in a methadone clinic for almost 2 years now.... I've done everything like I've supposed to... NEVER failed a drug panel.... Went to all of my groups and this is the first time this has EVER happened to me!! My clinic isn't open on Sundays so they give us a take home bottle on Saturday and then we turn in the empty bottle on Monday... Well I went to the fair today and now I can't find my bottle!! Idk what to do? Will I still be able to get my dose on Monday without my bottle?? Please please someone help me!! I am flipping out!!

Hello Faith,

I have never been involved in a methadone clinic or the way that they are handled, but from all of the different sources I can read on the internet is seems that these types of things are handled on a case by case basis. I am sure everything can be resolved in a civil manner if you explain to them the situation and point out that you have never had an issue within the 2 years you have been at the clinic. Do your best to remain calm and be clear when explaining the situation. We all make mistakes, try not to beat yourself up too much about each one.

IF YOU GET TAKE HOME DOSES THEY WILL TAKE THEM AWAY. I'M ON 1X WEEK AND THAT HAPPENED TO ME YEARS AGO BUT IT ONLY TOOK 7 MONTHS TO WORK BACK TO MY 1X WEEK. SO THEY DON'T THINK YOU'RE LYING, GO MAKE A POLICE REPORT TO GIVE THE CLINIC. THAT HELPS A LOT. DON'T KNOW YOUR STATE, I'M IN NEW YORK BUT MY EXPERIENCE IS IF THIS ISN'T A MEDICAID CLINIC AND A PRIVATE ONE, THEY MAKE NEW RULES UP WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE IT. HOPE THIS HELP AND POST BACK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS.

Thank you for sharing Nick. As I stated I am unfamiliar with the practices at the methadone clinic and the information available on this particular issue is limited. When you had this issue had you already been in the clinic for a few years with a clean record as well?

I WAS ALWAYS CLEAN AND THAT'S WHY 1X WEEK. CLINICS IN DIFFERENT STATES FOLLOW FEDERAL RULES BUT CONSTANTLY CHANGE CLINIC RULES. SOME GIVE 1X WEEK PICK UP BUT YOU HAVE TO GO IN 2-3X A WEEK FOR GROUP WHICH DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. I DON'T HAVE TO GO FOR METHADONE BUT HAVE TO GO FOR GROUP. AS I SAID BEFORE, ALWAYS GET A POLICE REPORT WHEN YOU LOSE A BOTTLE. EVEN THEN THEY CAN SAY YOU CAN'T BE TRUSTED TO SAFE GUARD YOUR MEDS AND NEVER GIVE YOU PICK UPS AGAIN.
