What does Arthri-D vitamin contain and where is it available? ## Hello, Sheila! How are you? It is available over the counter from various online retailers. It is listed as containing vitamin D3, n-acetyl-glucosamine, Turmeric, Boswella, Ashwagandha and Yucca. They claim that is helps alleviate arthritis pain, but that has never actually been proven. The company webpage lists the price as $79.99 a bottle. Is there anything else I can help with?

Started getting insomnia about the same time I started taking glucosamine. Wondering if this has happened to anyone else? ## Hello, Bell! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. No, that would be very unusual. It is most commonly known to cause drowsiness, but even then only in a very small percentage of people. The other side effects to this supplement, as listed by the FDA may possibly include nausea, heartburn and diarrhea. Has anything else changed, recently? Any new medications? More caffeine?

Xray shows bone to bone on my right knee. ## Hi Arnie, Sorry to hear about the condition your knee is in. Did your doctor recommend any types of supplements or nutritional regimen to help rebuild the cartilage? According to the MayoClinic, glucosamine is one of the substances that our body's naturally use to build cartilage. Supplements containing glucosamine are also relatively inexpensive at most health food stores, so that may be something worth considering. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is another supplement touted for similar uses as well. But there are a plethora of other alternative options out there if you're willing to experiment for a while until you find out what works best. My theory is that if you continue to give your body the right tools (via vitamins, minerals, and...

I have arthritis everywhere, especially in the ankle, and also osteoporosis. For the osteoporosis I am 67yrs. I am taking Alendronic Acid once a week and have done for 4 yrs. For arthritis I take one each of the following daily (and have done for years):- one Glucosamine Sulphate, one Omega 3, one Zaldiar tablet and one Beline capsule. It seemed to work well for me except for severe hourly nightime lower leg cramps which obviously prevent me from sleeping. A month ago, I suspended all medication and have been in terrible joint pain and feel awful, however, the leg cramps stopped overnight. I now know that it is the Beline capsules which give me the severe cramps as I started to take them again yesterday. I need to know if there is a successful alternative to Beline? hi. my mother has been diagnose with osteoporosis.she was advised glucosamine initially...and now she has been advised diacerein capsules. It might be quite layman like to ask...but which is the better medicine of the two?? there is a third option of biofosa 35 as well. her age is 53 Yrs and she has no prior history of this ailment. ## Well, the Glucosamine is a supplement, not a medication. It is substance that is naturally found in our joints and there has actually been no proof that supplementing it will actually replace it in the joints and help. The Diacerein is an actual drug, it works by inhibiting interleukin-1. Bifosa contains Alendronate and this helps with bone metabolism, to prevent them from breaking down further. Now, of the two actual medications, they both do different th...

Hi, I am looking for good brand of over the counter medication bottles of Glucosamine 500mg and Chondroitin 400mg combined if possible, in Canadian pharmacies or drug stores in Vancouver BC. ## Hello, Peter! How are you? I really don't know what brands are available to you in Canada, but what I think would be a good way to find out would be by asking a pharmacist/chemist. They are usually very knowledgable about which ones are the good brands, because they pay attention to what their customers prefer. Is there anything else I can help with?

Freeflex Forte is actually a nutritional supplement, it contains Glucosamine and Chondroitin, both of which are believed to help with joint health and mobility. Whether or not it helps will depend on what's causing your pain. Have you consulted a doctor to have your knees checked out?

My brother 72, has been taking Orcerin gm for his knee pains. Kindly explain longterm and short term side effects of all the ingredients of this drug. ## Orcerin-GM contains Diacerein, Glucosamine and Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM). The only actual medication in this is the Diacerein, the other two products are supplements that are believed to help with joint pain and mobility. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness and diarrhea. As to any long-term side effects, I am afraid I can't answer that question, because these combinations are not available in the U.S., so those types of studies have not been undertaken.
