Getting Soboxyn Perscribed

My son has a serious anxiety disorder. A friend offered him some soboxyn and it really helped him. He is afraid to tell his doctor in fear that he will be be taken off his anxiety meds. Any words of wisdom and encouragement out there?

Suboxone is typically prescribed for mild to severe pain in patients that are trying to recover from withdrawals from opiod addiction.
I would deffinately speak with his doctor, or tell him to consult with his doctor.

In addition to that, Suboxone cannot be prescribed by just any doctor - people who are trying to quit their opiate additions have to go to special clinics and visit doctors who specialize in a Suboxone treatment program. I would not worry about your son telling his doctor, however, the person who provided it to him could get in trouble instead.

Can I ask what medication(s) your son is currently taking for anxiety ???

My son is taking Klonopin. That is why I am so concerned. Based on the article you and Crystal sent to me, the 2 drugs can have very negative reactions. I am waiting for a call back from his doctor. I'm not sure how to begin to tell him what is happening. I was able to reach a doctor that treats addicts and he said Suboxone could be perscribed by any doctor for pain management, but a certified doctor is needed for opiate addition. My son is not addicted to opiates, he might have a chance with his doctor. He may lose his Klonopin script, he has a though choice ahead.

What you have stated makes sense - I was not aware that Suboxone was able to be prescribed by any doctor for pain management; I guess you learn something new every day. Anyways, I wish you and your son the best with this, and I hope that the final decision is for the highest good.
